I did say quartz is a dirty word ) To be honest I am surprised Omega still offer quartz watches!
That said the Acqua Terra in question is grossly over-priced in the automatic version in my opinion. As you say you can buy a Speedmaster (which has more complications) or a Seamaster Planet Ocean for quite a chunk cheaper! Doesn't make sense... ?:)
Omega cashing in on the Bond connection perhaps? or am I being too cynical?

Could be but I think the Acqua Terra has been highly priced for a while. More so than the previous Omega Bond watches.
Here is a glimpse at the Skyfall blue Aqua Terra in the form of the ladies London Olympics 2012 special edition 34mm AT... I bet it will the same blue dial, only bigger at 38.5mm.. Really excited now!!! Very sure it will sell really well..
The arrow tip of the minute hand can only belong on a diving watch with a turning bezel for elapsed time, not on a dress watch.
I wonder if the moviemakers ever could afford "Bond" to wear something original.
Just like the Podbyrin 9.2mm. Something "mystical" that does not exist.
Thanks to AAMC at the WUS forums... Here is the "Skyfall" 38.5mm Aqua Terra watch.... Its a beauty and just as I had expected!

Don't really get this watch. Chunky bracelet, diving style hands, no bezel so not a practical diver's watch, no chronograph so not a driver's watch, too overt for a nice dress watch. What's it meant to be?

I was hoping that I missed something and that the watch has an interior bezel. But I guess not. As a modern Bond watch it doesn't work for me. But maybe as a homage to the book Bond or Fleming it works? I need to check the books again. But Bond being a swimmer/diver even with a diving computer you would think he would want a watch with a bezel. This Omega isn't like the new Linde Werdelin Oktopus II either with the attachable diver's instrument.
Remember guys, Bond has changed in modern times under DC! He is no longer a one watch man! Its still rumored he wears a PO in this film if the watch dealer leak is correct (The Skyfall logo branded Omega is listed as a PO on the leaked Basel Pricelist)
@welshie, here are pics from WUS about the LE Planet Ocean

I must be one of the few that likes the Aqua Terra...but I don't have the £3k to spend on one....neither do I have the money for the LE Skyfall Planet Ocean which I love
I will be buying that blue AT.. And yes, I'm another one of the few here that likes the Aqua Terra... Its a very classy watch!
But I dislike that limited edition PO... Looks really off with that 007 logo on the dial.. They shd have just leave it with the Skyfall engraved at the transparent case back. I think they ruined it by adding the 007 logo at the 7 mark..
The Aqua Terra is the classiest looking watch Bond would have worn since, well, ever.
If any of you have actually seen an Aqua Terra, particularly the white and especially the grey dial models, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
The AT in terms of it's casing design is pretty much identical to the original Bond watch that Fleming slapped on his wrist, the rolex explorer, although, the numeral markings of the explorer have been replicated and been a fixture for Omega's planet ocean line.
However, one thing that the Brosnan era proved was that Bond wearing a blue dial face is a pleasant surprise and fts extremely well, suiting any occasion. That being said, the AT with this blue dial with the embedded vertical engraved lines is wonderfully spectacular and not only that the watch serves a variety of purposes and functions without pretentiously looking for recognition. We all want to be Bond but how many of us are actual divers? How many of us actually use our rolexes and omegas for real diving purposes? It's more of an aesthetics thing that most of us who aren't professional divers choose to buy these watches. I know people who own divers watches who can't even swim.
Me personally, I own a rolex deep sea sea dewller, a PO and I'll be buying this blue aqua terra because not only does it look great but I feel it's overall design encapsulates the essence of Fleming's original Bond watch and it's just a practical watch for all occasions without the almost attention seeking look of divers watches.
Honestly, when this watch is released, go to your local AD and check it out, try it on, you'll really understand what I'm talking about. Also, the latest issue of Total Film magazine has a pic of Craig suited up, standing next to his AM, with his AT on full show, it's the perfect time piece to suit those who dress smartly most of the time. Omega and Bond have scored big with this AT.
To each their own. I personally find the AT elegant, sophisticated and very alluring without being to Obvious. It has a subtle understated look compared to the POs and the subs.
Now, regarding what you said about Dell Deaton, I find it surprising because he's clearly stating that it's an explorer.

So, what sharp little eyes you've got...wait till you get to my teeth.

Hmm, I had heard Dell had fallen out of favour with a few watch sites but anyway the fact of the matter remains that Bond will be wearing this AT in SF and I think it's superb, something I'll definitely be buying. As for the limited edition watches, o don't understand why omega even bother wasting their time.

Hmm, the AT does not really sing to me. I'll wait to see the movie, before I pass final judgement, but I can't say I'm very worked up about it. Don't think I'll be buying that one, but you never know. "Never say never" as Sean Connery once said.

Good thing is, that even 38.5 mm are far too large for his wrists, he's not called Microjeff without a reason.

as far as I remember, there was another Limited Edition on that leaked pricelist and that was a PO.
Plus a Skyfall labelled 38.5 mm Aqua Terra.

This is the rolex explorer btw
skyfall AT
I'd say that it's the most boring watch - ever
And IF did not slap a Rolex Explorer on Bonds wrist. That's what Dell Deaton ( 8-) ) says.
Bond wore a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch with luminous numerals and a flexible bracelet.
It could be an Explorer, but it also could be a Submariner
