Another classic.
I loved Luciana Paluzzi as the evil Fiona Volpe. Bond is great when he finds her in the tub and she asks him " to hand her something to wear" and he hands her the gold pair of shoes. Priceless :)) ( I bet you liked that scene too TP ) :D

When Bond shoots Vargus with the spear gun. " You think he got the point " Vargus just looks evil. Between Blofeld, eye patch wearing no 2 Largo, Volpe and Vargus " Bond James Bond "has his hands full. Throw in having to find 2 nuclear bombs, all the while seducing the stunning Domino ( Claudia Auger ) and what a fun couple days on the beach you have on " Her majesty's " dime. B-) -{ B-)

As always looking forward to hearing opinions from everyone. {[]

Thunderball has a strange atmosphere to it that seems very mid 60s, French, sort of lush and exotic. It could work as a double bill with The Beatles Help! of that same year, but it also has something of The Pink Panther about it, the first film I mean, imo.

My fave scene really is the joke Bond makes when Fiona asks if Bond could give her something to put on. Why couldn't the Brosnan years have had someone on retainer to do jokes like that? They're priceless.

Otherwise, the pts despite some silly stuff, the Chateau d'Anau combined with the Aston Martin DB5 is wonderful to look at especially in the Ultimate Edition.

BTW should the DB5 return in Skyfall?

I agree the bathtub scene with Fiona was terrific. To me Luciana Paluzzi is one of the hottest of all Bond girls.

Shrublands was good - most of what we saw really. Dealing with Vargus with the harpoon gun, the chase through the carnival, using the girl as a human shield was up there - again, it's easier to leave out stuff than in. The forth and one of the best Bond films. Certainly Connery's outings were downhill from here on.

    My fave scene-

the casino scene where Bond arrives by boat and challenges Largo to a match of Baccarat. He then takes Domino and they dance a very cool jazz number.

The scene is mesmerizing for Connery's coolness, Domino's jaw dropping beauty and the perfect atmospheric backround music while all this is happening.

Domino's reaction to Bond while they dance and he proposes an evening together is so good its painful. you can tell Bond has 'touched' her where it matters and yet she is completely at a loss as to what to do.

This is a great scene because Bond is about to show us a lesson on how to deal with such a woman who's come to such crossroads!....except damn Largo shows up and ruins it!!! Damn you Largo!!

I love Bond's fight with the "widow"--one of the best (and most brutal) sock-'em-ups in the series. The fact Bond is fighting a man in drag makes it that much more interesting and unique!

I love the beginning when Blofeld makes all the "Numbers" report out their activities (including the waiter/caretaker Delbert Grady from The Shining).

Bond shooting clay pigeons with Largo is my favorite. "Perhaps you'd call one for me. Seems terribly difficult." BANG.
    "No, it isn't, is it?"
Fiona in the tub, Fiona in bed, Fiona dancing, Fiona on her motorbike and pretty much everything else Fiona. B-)
  • I honestly haven't seen this Bond movie in about eight years but I'll recall what I can

Connery and one of Largos henchmen have a fight in the grounds and fall into the shark pool, roof comes over, Bond puts on his breathing apparatus etc, Connery says something like 'now you can tell about the one that got away' if memory serves

The speeding out of control boat (Disco Volante) at the end, awful scenery/background :)) , rocks hurtling towards the screen at the speed of light, Connery and Celi frantically taking turns at the wheel, dodging terrible pictures of rocks coming forward, then leaping out of the boat before it crashes. That other guy who released Domino on the boat just made it even more comical for me

Volpe was one of the most sexiest Bond girls of the 1960s and I'm sure I'm right in thinking she had some of the best scenes, can't quite remember all that happened

There was an early scene in Paris where other members of Spectre are massed and one of them gets blown up or has an accident, I can't quite fully recall everything as it's been such a while since I last viewed this 007 release, I'm a bit rusty on this Bond film :s

Good call Jade66. The Clay Pigeon shooting scene makes me laugh every time.

The death of Angelo Palazzi is pretty good when the divers cut off his air supply. Not a nice way to go and a good indication of what you get for trying to haggle with SPECTRE :v

A subtle moment I like in " Thunderball " is when Bond is dancing with Domino and he says she only " meets men like myself and Largo " and she says " your not like Largo " " because of the way you hold me ".

OHMSS was originally suppose to be after TB. I always thought this scene was setting up Bond to fall in love in the next movie, OHMSS. When Thunderball's production ran long they had to scrap OHMSS because there was no snow in the summer for shooting at 'Piz Galoria "

Just watched Thunderball again last night on Netflix streaming. I think this scene is amazing too. It is one of the sweetest scenes of interaction in the franchise, I think. That so-close-but-can't-have-it feeling that Connery gets out of the two as they dance.

Also love the tub, clay pigeon, and many more scenes. This and Dr. No are up there in my favorite Bond films besides Casino Royale.

The death of Fiona is another great moment. . .both the tension-filled buildup to her getting shot, and Bond's sitting her body down at a table with the innocent question, "Can my friend sit here? She's just dead. . ."

I'm going to cheat, but my favorite scene/moment is the whole movie. There isn't one scene or moment I can say is my favorite. There are just too many to list. To this day, I still watch Thunderball every month or so. It's a big Bond movie that still has no equal.

TB is one of my favorite Bond films; as such I like many scenes.

Largo killing the guy that has been skimming money, inventive death scene.

Bond massaging Nurse Fearing with the mink glove, very erotic for its time.

Lucianna Paluzzi, the best Bond girl ever. Why don't they cast women like this anymore?

The casino scene, some real glamour and atmosphere. The poker game in CR should have had the same glamour and atmosphere.

The killing of Fiona as the drums builds to a climax’s.

Bond being hunted during the junkanoo added tension and excitement to the chase.

Largo torturing Domino with fire and ice, you don't see anything other than Largo tearing Domino's shirt, then the door shuts and you hear screams.

The entire film is what a Bond movie should be, big, glamorous, erotic, and deadly. They don't make them like this anymore.

Blofeld did the death scene, you mean.

I like the steam room seduction too, quite hot. "You don't mean... oh no" "Oh yes..." Imagine how obnoxious that would be with cocky Lazenby in the role. Only Connery could get away with it.
