Maybe more people should direct them to this thread - we might have some answers!!! Maybe they have upped quality control since my horrible Riviera purchase
C'mon the more emails to them the better chance of a response
I could write an email, but since I don't own even one t-shirt from them, my concerns would be useless I guess ;/
Well why don't you write them an email saying you wish to purchase one but have concerns about the colour and quality due to SOME 007 fans having bad experiences of late and maybe direct them to this thread??
I think this sums up Suspel - very inconsistent!!! Im over in the UK October, think I will pay a visit to their store and select my own Riviera, ordering online I seem to get incorrect sizes and poor quality!!!
Yours def looks more correct then the one I received!!
Bizarrely my Navy polo was fine, but my black version of the same item fitted completely differently and shrank like billy-o after it's first wash ... using exactly the same process as I had done with the CR shirt
Thank you for your email and interest in our products.
We were sorry to hear that some of the feedback you have read has on occasion been negative. The Riviera polo shirt currently online is the same style, fabric and colour of the one that was featured. About 2 years ago the colour was altered slightly but this was short term and we reverted to the original colour relatively quickly. All the stock of this colour has now sold through and is no longer available.
With regard to the quality, we can confirm that the garment is still made to the same high standard as always. Of course, with any product that is popular and therefore sold in quantity, we have received a very small quantity returned with shrinkage issues. However, within the quantity returned we found that some had not been treated correctly during the wash process.
We hope this information has answered some of your concerns and why you may have seen some of these type of comments.
I had write this email to them feedback@sunspel.com
I text my friend 1st let them knowing this.
And I found this topic through google.
This is my experience & email to Sunspel
I bought 6 sunspel tshirt 2 of them are "sunspel superfine" as I had a few of them as I bought 4 years ago. Some of them got hole in it. But still good as it is.
The reason I keep buying sunspel superfine after 4 years is because The quality!
When i open the box I was rub the fabric with my finger as I can tell the fabric are bit dry. I didn't realise much as when I rub the another one. I can tell the fabric is totally different hand feel ! The one is thicker to others or one has been brushed but they are all superfine. They all different compare the one I had. I checked the label afterward, What I've got is just pieces of %100cotton from turkey.
What a disappointment.
British Sunspel made in turkey.
I would let you know that you have lost a loyal customer and I will turn my business to zimerli not back again.
My bet: someone from Tom Ford sent this guy here to write this piece of shazam, so we can start searching for the QoS polos and forget about the riveras...
I've been following this thread for a while, as I was after a few of these polos.
Just thought you may like to know that I found a place that sells them online for less than Sunspel. I just received mine today, and they're the real deal - just like the one in Jacob Mortensen's picture up there. Not only that, but they got it to me the day after, and I received the despatch email an incredible 20 minutes after ordering!
Good stuff, and I'll be telling them as much. Drop me a line and I'll send you the link.
I purchased the Bond Riviera Polo in Navy from Stuarts of London in size L. Great service, better price than directly from Sunspel, arrived very quick and I love it. Exactly the same look as CR. Fits perfect, great feel, and does not need ironing, ready to wear right out of package. I loved it so much I ordered two more in Ivory and Stone Gray.
The new shirts arrive today but I think I'll have to return both. First, the Ivory and Navy seem to fit the same. Both have the same tag of white right on collar that also has the size next to it, just like the pictured posted by Jacob Mortensen. The problem with the Ivory is that it is very sheer. I mean you can’t wear a t-shirt with these shirts and the Ivory is see through. I was thinking I might get use to it but you can see my skin. Anyone notice this with the Ivory? Also, the pocket is a little high and maybe a little crocked. I’m probably being a little OCD on the pocket but I did notice it.
The Stone Gray has shorter sleeves than the Navy and Ivory and overall seems a little bit smaller than the Navy and Ivory and not of same quality, very wrinkled for example. The overall fit is probably not that big of a deal but the sleeve size is. I measured from the shoulder seam down and the Stone Gray is almost an inch smaller. I know these shirts have a shorter cut sleeve to begin with and I like that look but this is just way to short. The Stone Gray has the smaller “Sunspel” label only with no size tag next to it. It looks like welshboy78's tag on the pictures of his shirts.
I think I will return both and ask for shirts with the white tag with size on it. Hope they go for that and that actually makes a defifference. I’ll also just get two dark color ones like Cobalt Blue or Charcoal. I don’t care so much about color I just want the right fit.
I bought mine at Stuart's too. But I only bought the navy one which, like yours, I'm very pleased with. Excellent price and service too, just as you experienced.
Thanks for posting about the others though. Interesting. Strange about the variation in labels and size tags isn't it?
Mine has a different tag (more long and skinnier, grey), and I don't think I have the good quality version."
Yes that is the tag I have on the good one. I emailed Suarts and they said the tag does change each season and this is the newest tag right now. But they said the fit is the same. But my stone grey one with different tag is smaller. The sleeze is about an inch shorter. The ivory fits right it just too shear. I wore the navy one for the first time yesterday and everyone love it. I really like it just different than most polos, real stylish.
Here is mine that I bought way back in 2008. Currently my one and only Sunspel. Different looking tag. Quality is very good and I really love the fit. No doubt, very comfortable and cooling. Out of all the polo shirts I have, its probably my most comfortable polo. For the age, the color still looks pretty good to this day. I plan on getting another one soon and I hope the quality on the newer ones are just as good. My recommendation is to hand wash the shirt rather than dunking it in the washing machine as that can be too rough for the fabric.
Update. Just received my returns from Stuarts of London. I exchanged the ivory and stone grey riviera for a charcoal grey and cobalt riviera. They confirmed that the stone grey had shorter sleeves. I asked for ones with the new tags of white with the size next to it. Stuarts was very accommodating and said they had one in charcoal like that but no cobalt with the newer tag (they did have one with old tag). The assured me the cobalt had the same size sleeve length as the charcoal so I said send it. They arrived today. The charcoal grey one with newer tag is almost exactly like my navy one. Seems a tad smaller but nothing notable and nothing a little stretching wouldn't cure. Overall very please. The cobalt (which has a Sunspel label in tan with no size next to it) is not right. The sleeves are the same size but the collar is huge. I mean it’s a little over 3 inches in length compared to maybe 2 ¼ inch collar of the navy and charcoal. Instead of having a nice small and tight collar which fits the shirts it’s just too big. I’m sending it back for refund. One final note, the charcoal one has the pocket in exactly the same place as the navy. It lines up with the bottom of the front placket. The cobalt pocket is lower. I like these shirts but doubt I’d purchase another unless I could see it in person first.
Usually L. For example, when I buy the Zara t-shirts (which are perfect quality by the way) I always get the "very slim fit" in L and the're great in shape. I have no chance to try on the Sunspel clothes, because I see no sense in flying to London for just that reason ^^
The Zaras are almost identical to Sunspel Riveiras in shape, colour, design.
I bought 6 (3 black, 3 navy) for the cost of one Sunspel.
I'm luckily that I'm in good shape as they accentuate my shoulders/arms perfectly!

Much appreciate your effort mate!!
Glad they responded though must admit I'm still a little skeptical - my issue wasn't just shrinkage and color but also construction!!
I think I will buy my next Sunspel at their store so I can hand pick some decent ones!!
Again thanks for taking the time to send them an email!
No problem! The name's George by the way

I have a cobalt and it looks like a lighter shade of Navy
I was a little disappointed with quality and finish also
