DC Tie knot

Does anyone know which way Daniel Craig knots his ties?

I've used the "four in hand" since I started wearing ties, and am not always happy with how it turns out.

thanks

No idea but I know from a very reliable source that he wears his socks on the wrong feet for good luck ;)

Socks on wrong feet? Nice every bit of luck helps. I'm curious how Brosnan wears his tie in Bilbao, spain in TWINE and Hamburg, Germany in TND. im about to purcuase the Brosnan suit from Magonli to match those two suits...

What kind of socks does he wear where there is a designated left and right foot?

Post number 100, well that was a memorable one haha!

Apparently he prefers his socks from a relatively small unknown boutique in London, Marc Senson-Parks, their range has a small R and L tag near the toes. ;)

I've heard this one mentioned before so can confirm what mingeff says.

But just as Craig is notoriously unforthcoming about confirming his height - advising only he is between five and six feet tall - he advises that his socks are a medium size or a large, but will not confirm which. Nor which he puts on first. Say he's a very private person and that it's no one else's **** business.

I think he used the Pratt knot in QOS.

    That's a pretty good deduction, especially with the Duke of York collars. -{

I've heard that he never ever takes his socks off.

I agree. I use the Pratt/Shelby as my go-to tie knot, & the results usually look very similar to Craig's impeccable tie knots from QoS. It creates a medium-sized symmetrical triangle that works well with most collar types. It certainly looks a lot better than Craig's terrible knots from Casino Royale! Perhaps Tom Ford gave him some style advice.

The Half-Windsor is another possibility as well.

I think I am more curious about the socks now instead of the tie!

As an alternative for those still searching, try a similar competitor, George A'Tasda.

4 in hand according to matt spaiser
  • Matt SMatt S Oh Cult Voodoo ShopPosts: 6,610MI6 Agent
Yes, I see it as a four-in-hand since it's a long, asymmetrical knot. It's not a Pratt knot, at least not with the navy pinstripe suit because the seam neither shows on the narrow blade nor does it when he takes the tie off. Because the collar is a moderate spread with little tie space it's hard to say much more.

Matt, what about the collar? Is it this Duke of York collar? You'll have to forgive me, I'm a novice when it comes to theses details of dress.

It's a semi-spread collar, narrower than a typical English spread collar but wider than a point collar. Names like "Duke of York" or "Prince of Wales" are given by brands for marketing purposes. The only "Duke of York" collar is the one made by Prince Andrew's (or George VI's before he was king) own shirtmaker.

Any ideas where you can get these collars like DC wore?

On a budget; TM Lewin's 'Duke of York' is ideal. If money is no object then Turnbull & Asser make a fantastic semi-spread.
