Connery navy grenadine and knitted ties

Does anyone know where I can get hold of these ties? Turnbull and Asser have navy grenadine ties (DN, FRWL, TB) and knitted ties (GF) and they are excellent ties.
But what I am after is these ties with the same width that was used in the 60s (Connery era)

Sam Hober and Kent Wang have grenadine ties on their website.

What width are those ties? What was the width of Connerys tie in the 60s?

I have one of these in Black and Navy: http://www.michelsons.com/retail-home.php?data_id=657

Quality (100% silk) is excellent for the price! I find I wear one of them every week at work as I like them so much,

The widest point of the present navy grenadine tie from Turnbull and Asser is 3 3/4" (9.5 cm) and the length is approximately 57" (145 cm).
What is the correct measurement for Connerys tie from the 60s?

Sam Hober ties come in custom width and length. Kent Wang is a standard off the rack width of 3 and 3.5.

I buy from both places and they both put out a nice product.

    I think Connery's ties were 3.25.

Grenadine ties cost cost a fortune. There is fina and Grossa type Grenadines and pricing always differ based on brands. Most of em made in Italy can cost between 49-100 GBP !

Below is the link I usually buy my ties from Panah and satisfied from a price point. 8-)

I would avoid T&A ties. I bought the black grenadine and it kept on getting pulls in it. They provided good service and swapped it for another and the same thing happened. I swapped it for a green grenadine tie and same thing again the threads are coming loose which is not what I would expect for a tie costing £105. I can't be bothered to change it again - I have plenty of other grenadine ties and this has never happened and they are way cheaper. Try the navy one from Charles Trywhitt

T&A uses the same Fermo Fossati grenadine silk as almost everyone else, including Tom Ford, Drakes, Mason & Sons and Charles Tyrwhitt. Grenadine silk, particularly the garza grossa (which is what Connery wore), is extremely delicate. I have about 25 grenadine ties from about 20 different brands, and all are equally delicate. Is this the CT grenadine tie you're talking about?

It uses the same exact silk as T&A, just the other side of it. T&A uses the wrong (but not incorrect) side, which isn't any more delicate in my experience. Anthony Sinclair uses the same side, as does Panah linked above, and I think my Harvie & Hudson tie does too (I'm not home to check). But I find both sides to be extremely delicate. There is nothing wrong with T&A's grenadine ties, you just need to be extra careful with grenadine.

Some brands do a fake grenadine silk that is made in England, and that has a similar look without being as delicate. I also have a couple polyester grenadine ties which are also sturdier. I wouldn't be surprised if they melt the fabric a little to make it sturdier, which can't be done with silk.

    Hi MattS,

Yes the link you attached is the CT version i have which is fantastic. I have seven others and none of them have a single pull (Hardy Amies, Tom Ford, Emmett etc). The T&A silk is clearly high quality but it is the way it has been woven which makes it overly delicate - i had numerous pulls on the black grenadine tie i had which i returned and the same thing has happened on TWO more ties after being worn once and i am not heavy handed in using them. To be fair they have changed them each time and i should probably have stayed clear from replacing with another grenadine tie but the only reason i bought the grenadine tie from there in the first place was the bond connection and i have to say i am disappointed. It is the way they have been made - presumably "handmade" which in my experience typically means crap.

It's not T&A silk. Again, the silk T&A uses is EXACTLY the same as the other grenadine ties you have (though not sure about Hardy Amies). Fermo Fossati provides the same exact silk to just about everyone, woven on the same jacquard loom in Italy. You can't blame T&A. I've personally never had a problem. but I'm sorry you have. T&A use the wrong side, which has more floats on display for a bolder look that may also make it more delicate.
