As Christmas eve is upon us it is only fitting to discus your favorite parts of OHMSS.
Piz Galore was just amazing. From the helicopter ride up to the ski chase down the cinematography is just stunning. It is a beautifully shot movie. I also though Telly Savalas was the most believable Blofeld. Barry's score was almost as stunning as the cinematography. OHMSS may have been the first movie I ever watched that I really noticed a film score as a separate entity.

That said, I will go with the safecracking scene in Gumbold's office. This is a beautifully constructed vignette, full of tension as the clock ticks down and Gumbold returns from lunch to John Barry's increasingly urgent score, and even with a bit of slightly rakish humor as Bond ogles the Playboy centerfold with bemusement. And all without a word of dialogue. A great example of the filmmakers adding something to what was already a great novel to make an even better film.

Exactly.
terrific score
best cinematogrophy of any Bond movie
the best Blofeld
some depth for the characters including Bond
good plot
It has so many great moments its hard to pick a favouite - the safebreaking scene, Bonds journey to Piz Gloria, the assault on Piz Gloria, the bobsleigh chase, but if I have to be pinned down to one my favourite is the PCS with the fight on the beach. A great way to to introduce Bond and editing at its best. Marred only by the 'this never happened to the other fella' line.
A truly great moment in a great Bond movie. He looks completely washed up and waiting for the inevitable end, and then there's Tracy...so many great scenes mentioned in numerous posts.Lazenby gets rightful praise for the final scene, but I think this is another that is right up there.
Agree with everything you say, particularly the young Bond thing. It may be that Lazenby's inexperience actually helped him pull that off. Laz did have rough edges, but Peter Hunt managed to cover them up when they would be a liability and capitalise on them when they could be an asset. So maybe he's the real star here.
Have to agree with this. It gets me every time...
A VERY rarely seen side of Bond.

Mmmm....you may level a few things at OHMSS...but a lack of action ? Seriously ?:)
May I suggest that if you watch the film again...arrange your chair to face the tv screen :v

One of my favorites as well. It is one of the few times the viewer really sees desperation in Bond.
The second moment I would choose is during the final Piz Gloria assault when Lazenby slides across the ice on his chest shooting with the Bond theme playing in the background. I slowly warmed up to Lazenby as the film progressed and that moment sealed the deal for me. It's a shame in my opinion that Lazenby didn't continue because I would have loved to see more of him.
1. GoldenEye 2. Goldfinger 3. Skyfall 4. OHMSS 5. TWINE
Damn good scene, and very moving indeed. The description in the book is even more moving. I handed the book to my wife and said "Read that" holding it open to that page. She was hooked on Fleming from then on.
Now THAT is a Bond supervillian. Pure swagger. Anything less for Bond villians is unacceptable.
OHMSS is one of my fav films,, for me the best bits are with Dianna Rig, a very stylish woman,, and the bit where she stops infront of bond, and the camera pans up her legs,, thats it for me,, the best bit,,
but a great film,,
