From what I've heard of the score I wouldn't say I was blown away from it. Most parts sound like it could be the score to any other action film. However, speaking to someone at the press screening last night about the use of the bond theme in the score and they said: "Newman doesn't overuse the theme, though I'd say it makes an impact." So there is a bond sound in there somewhere.
The more I listen to this score the more disappointed I am with it. At least half of it is totally bland and unmemorable and could have been served up by any Hollywood hack.

It's like he's tried to play it safe and copy Arnold rather than creating his own sound. Breadcrumbs might as well have been Arnold's "The names Bond...James Bond"

I think Casino Royale just has so many excellent cues, sweeping espionage tracks, and moving uses of the title song and Bond theme that SkyFall's is a little flat for me.
It worked in the movie, but it rarely memorably changed my emotions towards a scene in the way that Casino Royale's score did. The most effective pieces seemed to be the tracks based on the Bond theme and predecessors.
It's one of those scores that doesn't warrant much time overall outside its film, but it did its job in complementing the film.
I think Newman's score worked quite well. It was nothing great but it was above average and got the job done. I think Arnold was a fantastic choice for Bond and I am glad he stayed on as long as he did. He was perfect for blending more modern scoring styles with that classic Barry feel. I thought he was going a bit too far with the "Techno" stuff in DAD but he made his finest Bond score in CR and made up for it. The QoS score was just so mediocre and bland though that I'm glad they found someone new.
Newman's score actually reminded me a bit of Arnold's work but luckily the films theme song was so strong that Newman was able to make a fantastic score around it.
His music at the airport with Bond waiting for an arrival. Has some very loud
electronic Beeps in it. The first time I heard it I though some Git had his

"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
This score is slowly growing on me as a whole album, though the majority of the tracks just sound so generic to me. my absolute favorite track is "She's mine", i think its one of the most emotionally charged and "epic" tracks from the series, i also love the brilliant hints of the Bond theme in it.
Too bad the soundtrack doesn't have Newman's Bond theme when its played during Silva's capture and the end scene.

That doesnt even make sense, a hack writes articles or books!
And lm not sure Ten time Academy Award nominated makes him just any old hack...even if you have the context wrong!
Barry's Bond music on its own was not always great, but watched in the context made sense...
so l suggest you hear the music in the context of watching the film then come up with a view...
just dont use the word hack as it really doesnt make sense at all!
