i haven't seen NSNA, but i've been a Bond fan for about five years, shall I watch it. Is it worth it.
I know you might say all bond films are worth watching but still, I was wondering

Thunderball remake. You might get some enjoyment seeing that story trying to be remade with an ancient Connery.

Bond fans should watch and form considered and informed opinions on each and every Bond film. It's as simple as that.

This is probably the best approach.

There are many who enjoy it and many who don't. Might as well watch it because it could please you.

Its really bad, but if you're a Bond fan you should watch it. Its definitely a good idea to watch them all and formulate your own opinions. However theres a reason most Bond fans can't stand NSNA.

Yeah, watch it... but be warned... it's not really godawful it just lackluster, very, very, very lackluster. It lacks the spirit of a 007 adventure, stinks of self-reference (I find it more annoying than any reference in DAD - and it had a whole Q-branch sequence of it!!!) and is a spectacularly unimaginative retread of Thunderball. The guy who plays Largo does do crazy well though. He's the highlight.

Also, I'm a Bond purist and am inclined to hate Kevin McClory. Thank-you Kev, NONE of us wanted to see Blofeld in TSWLM or even see a worthy death for the character in which Bond can, oh I don't know, SAY HIS NAME AND AVENGE HIS LATE WIFE!!!! X-(

Then he looked again at Bond and spoke very quietly, the red moustache lifting slowly from the splayed upper teeth.
"I should spend the money quickly, Commander Bond," he said.
Then he turn away from the table and walked swiftly out of the room.

Find the proper context for it.

ie Watch something like Commando with Arnie or a sub-standard US B-movie beforehand, then watch NSNA and you'll find it not so bad really. Or you could get hold of the Special Edition someone rejigged with mostly John Barry music, Blofeld's Cat did it.

    I second Commando.

Years ago when I was still at school ITV showed all the Bond films every Tuesday night including NSNA. At the time I didnt know the story behind it and thought it was an normal EON film. After it finished I remember thinking it was a poor man's Thunderball. If you a fan though, still worth sitting through.

I'd say watch it, then give us your review of it. Like most here,I don't think it's a great Bond film
But it's nice to be able to say you've seen them all.

You have to watch it...but apart from a few bits and pieces (mostly belonging to Kim Basinger :o ), it's eminently forgettable afterwards!

Of course you should watch it...just as you should watch the Casino Royale's of 1954 and 1967.

I don't think NSNA is THAT bad...it's fairly watchable (glowing reference I know :D )....it's pretty decent in places, but does tend to mock itself just a little too much...and as much as I like Rowan Atkinson, you can cut his role completely...!

I agree. I think it's a must for Bond fans, and although I thought it was generally disappointing, there were a few elements I enjoyed. For example, I was thrilled by the return of Sean Connery, and I don't think he was half-bad, especially considering his age at the time. It helped that they acknowledged that he was an older, weathered Bond, and in my opinion Connery made a better impression in NSNA than in DAF. So by all means take a chance and see for yourself.

The problem for me is not so much SC ( although his contempt for the character that made him famous is palpable ) its how cheap and shoddy the whole thing looks and sounds. The production values are very low. Sean plays it for laughs almost all the way through. It really is a terrible film, and should be watched precisely because of that. I hope Broccoli & Wilson watch it daily to ensure that nothing else like it is ever made again.

In my opinion TB is superior to NSNA in every way.

Klaus is more of a creepy villain, but he doesn't have the physical presence of Adolfo. Adolfo is a better a super villian, where as Klaus seems like a child predator or something, lol.

The highjacking of the nuclear weapons was far more interesting in TB than in NSNA

The video game between Bond and Largo is dated and campy

The porn music that plays way too often in the dance studio on Largo's ship just makes me cringe

The ridiculous outfits that Fatima wears....I could go on and on lol

Not that TB is perfect is has plenty of flaws and could have been improved with a good remake, but NSNA failed on almost all levels
