QoS Tributes

I tried posting in the Quantum forum but I was not able to do so; I apologize if this is the wrong form.

I just watched Quantum of Solace for about the third time and I realized that it had many tributes to the previous Bond films, letting the audience know it still is the same James Bond. The two that really stood out to me were:

GF - Agent Fields smothered in oil on the bed, similar to Jill Masterson with gold paint
TSWLM - After the opera, one of the bodyguards of Haines is slipping off the roof and knocked off by Bond, similar to Bond and Sandor in Egypt.

Do you have any other tributes to point out?

Haha i tend to think of em in that sense too, but i'd rather look at the bright side of the "new Bond" by appreciating these references. But yes I have to partially agree with you here. Thanks for the input zaphod!

The airplane escape, could be a nod to Moonraker. Although as others have pointed out.

Yeah. I don't mind the nods in QoS, they feel genuine. DAD's outright bombardment of references is another story all together. In QoS, as it and CR are the first in the reboot series, I tend to see the references as a way of subtly reintroducing classic elements from the old canon into the new canon so that they remain in the fabric of Bond's world (then and now). I quite like that and hope they do the same for some other key moments and characters as well somewhere down the track, like Blofeld... please EON?

The oil-covered Fields was the big one I noticed, too. I thought the was an awesome reference. Some are a little cheesy, but I like them when done in a cool tone that fits the world.

Bond and Camille jumping from the crashing airplane and having their parachutes open just a few feet from the ground and surviving is much like Jaws, in MR, falling from the airplane without a parachute, flapping his arms like wings, falling on a tent and walking away. Both are equally preposterous.

I cringed during the landing, given the fact that the parachute was pulled a bit too late
But I agree with you completely. The fact that both parties were completely okay puzzled me.

But after all, it IS a movie hahaha

The fight on the scaffold, could be an Homage to the fight on the Hotel building site in CR.
