Isn't this a basic generic aviator style compared to the QOS shades? Anyone find a cheaper alternative yet? Under a $100 would be the price range I'm looking for. :(|)

I like the shades, and the blue lenses seem standard now for DC - he's nicked that from McQueen! ;)

That being said, I think the pic someone posted of him in those new Persol's looks much better on him, IMO.

Still amazed at the quality of Persol, and buying them on the web you can really get a decent price!

Does anyone own the TF Marko yet?

Mantis, I know you tried them on in the TF store - any thoughts? They seem a bit larger than the QoS sunglasses but I like that the temple pieces are plastic instead of leather. I think the shiny frame and lense combo look great. They sure matched that suit and tie you were wearing! I suppose that's the benefit of one-stop shopping! :)

Just curious if anyone can chime in on what they think. Going to try and find them at Saks or Neiman's to try them on...

Bond himself would be wearing the non-007-branded versions, no? Thus more screen accurate to buy the original release?

    Yes.

Should they be 100% confirmed and should I decide to buy a pair, I'd prefer to geth ones that didn't have "James Bond" or "007" plastered all over them.

Ive held off just incase there is some tiny minor difference on the "official" ones, very unlikely but you never know.

Also not bothered about the 007 thing as it will be on the inner arm if anything like the QOS ones, also 20 years down the line they might be worth a boat load (check out the QoS ones on eBay selling for 700-800 dollars, hardly vintage yet are they?)

Well, if all I was bothered about was making a huge profit - as you're giving the QOS shades as an example - Id' buy a suitcase full of the impending SKYFALL special edition ones and put 'em away.

But I'm talking about screen accuracy and personal preference for things not branded JB/007. :D ;)

Ha - don't get me wrong I'm not buying to sell!

We will never know what is more screen accurate, for all we know his might be customized with Mr Daniel Craig on the arms instead of James Bond.

I guess they are going to look identical apart from inner arm writing which is impossible to ever know or see hence I would rather buy a pair that might be worth a considerable amount more in 20 years time

True. We will never know. Maybe he DID have the name "James Bond" imprinted on them, so he didn't get 'em mixed up with anyone else's. In the same way as Aunt Charmian would have sown labels into his clothes before sending him off to Eton.

Indeed, I'm still convinced DC wore the Sunspel polo in QOS and the Oliver Peoples shades on screen. Before Tom Ford elbowed his way in.... :o ;)

To be honest I hate the 007 branded stuff however on the sunglasses the branding is hidden so not quite like the Omega 007 editions :)

I personally don't think he wore Oliver Peoples in QoS, although the TF is a blatant rip off, having both pairs side by side I find they are easily distinguishable though you could be right about Sunspel polo!

Im intrigued about the cufflinks in this film, one pair certainly TF however the other pair could easily (and hopefully) be St Dupont. Would they dump St Dupont after all these years? They seem to have licensing for a lot of products per film hence imagine pay a hefty fee. Would be a shame for the brand to be ditched

No, I don't really think DC wore Sunspel and OPs in QOS. Just being cynical. But while I don't think either brand made it as far as on screen, I'm pretty sure both got as far as on-set.

I have managed to end up with two pairs of the Marko 18V sunglasses due to a misunderstanding with my wife I am willing to sell for what I paid for them and eat the shipping both ways. $200 shipped.

I think Mantis & some other members have had them confirmed by Tom Ford employees. But we're still waiting for the official press release, which will probably come with the announcement of the Tom Ford Skyfall line of products. In any case, DC has been spotted wearing the Marko sunglasses on the set multiple times, so I'm pretty sure they will used onscreen.

My issue in not getting any is I don't see any stills from the movie where he is actually WEARING them...so maybe, like the Penfield Vest, he just wears it behind the scenes...

The lenses on the TF were nice in person I thought...

Does this picture confirm the TF Marko sunglasses? They look spot-on.

I think its 110% Markos however believe most people are waiting for the official press release and 007 launch from Tom Ford

The question isn't whether they're TF Marko or not, the question is if they're in the movie at all. So far, no screen caps. Just set pictures of the Persols, TF Marko, and another aviator (ray ban?).

I thought the Turkey market pictures were proof enough that he wears them on film!!

Those pictures look to me like he's only wearing them in between takes.

A new photo from a French article highlighting Tom Ford sunglasses. We have our confirmation - The Tom Ford Marko's will be the Skyfall sunglasses. I know for QoS - Tom Ford created the sunglasses on licence from EON hence the limited production. However these are in the Tom Ford range so they should be readily available.

James Bond chooses the Tom Ford glasses for Skyfall

Even though they are currently out, I imagine a James Bond 007 packaged version will surely be released very soon!! Tom Ford shirts and Ties are already hitting stores marked as James Bond

Are we sure the bond branded ones are even going to happen ???.
There still hasn't been even an announcement of their existence or production and no stockists I've spoke to have heard anything of any new items even being sent too them or released.
Don't get me wrong I really hope these happen but I could have been sure the QoS were out for a while before the films release.
  • mudz112mudz112 London, United KingdomPosts: 130MI6 Agent
They may not have a James Bond version. Remember QoS sunglasses were on licence from EON and therefore not a Tom Ford product hence the limited number. The Marko's are a Tom Ford product and in the existing range so they will be just like a Pair of shoes or jeans in the film. If you want them then you can snap them up now. Just not sure on the lens colour

I'm positive we will see them rereleased and rebranded as James Bond - looking at press releases for The TF108 they appeared to come out in Nov 2008.

Selfridges and Harrods are starting to release Tom Ford James Bond branded products the last week or so hence they obviously have a licence from EON to sell 007 branded merchandise (check out other threads) hence its a no brainier in my opinion and will happen in the coming weeks

Which products have been released under the 007 Brands at Harrods and Selfridges?

James Bond shirt (somebody scanned a Tom Ford shirt leaflet showing a shirt called the James Bond shirt ) and a few Tom Ford Ties. Seems they def have the licence to use the James Bond print (name)
