Remakes? No thanks. Leave that to Marvel and DC! (Comics, not Mr Craig!)
Each of the existing Bond films are a piece of their time, reflecting elements of when they were made. To me it would be a waste of expectation to go to the cinema to see the exact same story done again, even if the cast and locations are different.
However, it would be good to do the storyline of the Moonraker book as a new, modern film. After all, the story would fit the modern Bond era very well.
The irony is, the films have got to appeal to a wider audience than the books do. - Financially, there is too much at stake not to.
I still think a period piece mini series, such as a BBC style period drama, is the answer to depicting a true to Fleming era Bond.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

The remakes would not be the exact same story. That's precisely the point. The original film versions do not use the story, either internally or externally. The point of remakes is to use the stories Ian Fleming wrote as a basis for the film, instead of the just the title and a few of the names.

They should all be done as new, modern films. If you understand that about Moonraker, why do you not see the same point about Live and Let Die, Diamonds Are Forever, You Only Live Twice, and Casino Royale?

I'm not sure that is feasible, or desirable. One can still be faithful in a modern adaptation.

The top 7 Bond films: 1) Dr No. 2) From Russia With Love. 3) Thunderball. 4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service. 5) For Your Eyes Only. 6) The Living Daylights. 7) Licence to Kill.
You Only Live Twice - To get rid of the space crap and to see Blofeld's suicide garden as controversial as it would be.
Diamonds Are Forever - Include the Spang brothers, but focus more on Bond's revenge for the death of Tracy against Blofeld making it dark and serious this time.
Live and Let Die - Aside from the racism, the novel is wonderful. Shame the movie version didn't have Felix's shark attack or the coral torture scene. The Mr. Big character was completely wasted.
Moonraker - See above about faithfulness, but mainly due to the bridge game at Blades and include Gala Brand. Again, leave out the space crap which ruined what had been a good movie going overall.
Die Another Day - Make the second half of the film as good as the first half was!
Here's the thing though. If you remade them, would you give them a new name?
Personally, I like the idea that we don't know what the upcoming Skyfall is about, if you redid the novel Moonraker, well, you'd have a broad idea as to how it turns out. It just isn't original, by definition.
I definitely agree about The Man with the Golden Gun - the premise was excellent and the casting was spot-on with Christopher Lee, but the film as a whole was just downright silly. I get that silliness was in the veins of almost all the Bond films up until the Dalton era, but some of their ideas were so genuinely intriguing that I wish they'd tried to take themselves more seriously at times.
I'm a huge fan of each and every one of the Connery/Lazenby films, but I reckon it could be cool to see the whole of what I call the 'SPECTRE saga' remade - in other words, ALL of the first seven films, with the exception of Goldfinger. I probably wouldn't want to see this happening with the current production crew because some of those films do need to be treated with a reasonable amount of tongue-in-cheek, such as You Only Live Twice, but it could be really cool to see a more up to date Blofeld, and more than anything I would just want to finally see Blofeld meet a satisfying demise rather than being unceremoniously dropped down a smoke stack like in For Your Eyes Only, or swung around by a crane like in Diamonds are Forever (I actually thought the concept of Bond stopping Blofeld from escaping again before abandoning him on an exploding oil rig was a fitting one, but once again, it wasn't executed seriously enough).

That would mean a second remake of Thunderball. Also, SPECTRE is in the background, but Dr.No, FRWL and TB focus on villains who work for SPECTRE, but who could also work on their on. Not so with Bloefeld. IMO Bloefeld is a great character that wasn´t fully explored (that´s an understatement, it was actually just a caricature). Take a great actor, develop the character and make Daniel Craig confront him in a couple of movies, that would be awesome.
Rating : R for Graphic Violence,Adult Language,Sexual Content,Brief Nudity
Casting:
James Bond - Liam Nesson
Tracy Bond - Kate Beckinsale
Blofeld - Jeremy Irons
M - Anthony Hopkins
Q - Eric Idle
Moneypenny - Anne Hathaway (perfect for this role imo)
Things id change/add :
-Since the main problem of OHMSS was its out of place continuity (Bond and Blofeld dont know each other even after the fact they met in YOLT) I would a scene that would reveal Bond's identity to Blofeld, there would also be a scene where Blofeld says that Bond looks familar and asks "are you sure we have never met?"
- This would be the first Bond film to include a sex scene, rather than cutting to another scene after Bond starts smooching some chick.
- Tracy's death scene would be more graphic in my version, when the bullet strikes Tracy in the head there would be a quick 7 sec rear shot of her head and her brains splatter out, to give it a realistic feel to it. Bond would see Tracy's body, he would drop to his knees and start weeping, i would have him say something like "im sorry, im so sorry...." while looking at her corpse and crying.
- Rather than Bond quitting MI6 at the start of the movie, i would have had him announce it at his wedding ceremony with Tracy, him and M would shake hands afterwards.
