Do you look forward to the day when Craig is no longer James Bond?

IMHO DC is how bond is supposed to be. a brutal hardfaced licensed killer..fact.
Roger moore with his fake karate chops did Bond no credibility favours at all.
I know 00 killers dont exist in the real worled but if the did DC is how they should be portrayed.

From what i remember from the books , Bond wasn't a brutal hardfaced killer . Timothy Daltons bond was the closest to literary bond . Craig is a modern day take on Bond - a very good one and the stone faced killer approach works but i dont want to see craig become a sylvester stallone ( thick makeup..a bit of plastic - craig would end up looking like vladmir putin ! )
I hope DC realises this is an acting project - move on to other less profitable work but still have a good career and a good legacy to look back on.

He looks okay in the movie clips so fair enough. I do agree that this parallel universe Bond is a bit odd however, he just can't be the same guy who fights Dr No, Oddjob, Klebb et al, so on the basis that it's his experiences that define him, he's not Bond as we know it. But then neither will his successor be if he's following on from Craig. :s

It's as if you can clone somebody and then say, hey, technically it's the same person, what's the problem?

However, if Skyfall rocks I'd hope Mendes can be persuaded to do another, or maybe Danny Boyle, to keep up the momentum. With Craig back too. In fact, Skyfall could make his whole tenure look better, even QoS - which like DAD, was a bad film to be leaving such a long aftertaste.

i'm amazed why so many people dislike quantum of solace - yes , on 2nd viewing i lost interest but there were still some very good sequences in it and a certain flair . I prefer it to Casino Royale which was just a 1-gear crowd pleaser to me . I think they tried to add new elements to QoS which either didn't work or the crowd didn't like - maybe on 3rd viewing i''ll hate it like everyone else but i'd still prefer it to ( the second half ) of die another day

Indeed, Skyfall is likely to define Daniel Craig's tenure as Bond. It's certain to be a box office hit, what with it being Bond, the four year gap and 50th anniversary etc. I suspect Craig will return for Bond 24 (and likely final film) whether Skyfall is a critical success or not. Danny Boyle would be a good choice for director if Sam Mendes is out of the equation for whatever reason.

QoS - which like DAD, was a bad film to be leaving such a long aftertaste.

Surely you can't compare the two. Robocop suits, face diamonds, invisible cars that shoot rockets at each other, and CGI windsurfing off a glacier (while escaping a space laser that's melting an ice palace!)

QoS might not be Casino Royale, but DAD makes it look like Oscar material by comparison.

I love the older style Bond films and would love to see a return to that at some point but at the time Die Another Day left such a bitter aftertaste and Casino Royale was the perfect antidote to that. Personally, I like the direction of the new films and can't say I'm in a rush to see Craig depart. I think that with DAD, it all went a step too far and became far too self referential and too over the top.

What I do look forward to though is the anticipation during the lead up to the announcement of the new actor to play Bond and then the run up to the first film; I always enjoy that :)

Judging by the all-star cast SKYFALL will have, I think this movie is going to kick-ass. I believe Daniel Craig will be asked to do one more.

Having watched Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace over and over again the last 4 years, I have gotten used to seeing Daniel Craig in the role and I like how he makes James Bond so physical.

I wonder if they will ever get a brown-eyed James Bond actor again.

Yes, I would like to see a new actor play James Bond, but I don't think the producers are ready to let Daniel Craig go.

My second thought, this James Bond actor is around my age and I like seeing James Bond be middle-aged and into his 40's and 50's like Roger Moore did. Sean Connery also returned and played Bond again at the age of 52.

If the producers do want a new actor to be James Bond, it would probably mean yet another break of 3 years and the new actor would probably be 10 to 15 years younger.

Whether they stay with Daniel Craig or not, I want my James Bond movies every two years.

Michael G. Wilson has already mentioned he wants to take some time to see how the public reacts to SKYFALL, before beginning Bond 24 .

I would like to say, start on a new screenplay when you are done with the previous one. The first 10 pages at least.

I thought Casino Royale was ok, I thought QoS was very poor. I am hoping Skyfall will be an improvement. As it stands at the moment I look forward to a better Bond.

I'm not quite equating them, though there are comparsons - ineffectual, young villains who host a party with a public address, Bond going AWOL or on his own pretty much with a grievance, general embittered tone. But it's mainly that neither film were much loved by fans, and became a long aftertaste thanks to no quick follow up movie, both becoming 'the latest Bond film' for a while.

Ha - I would have this the other way around lol

    Only kidding!

DAD is a shocker but look at the money it generated - I bet EON were happy!

And they would be even happier when they banked the bigger cheque brought to them for QoS ;)

No im not...Craig has made the character his own...

and although he's still missing some elements (acting them) his Bond is very interesting and has not been yet fully exploited.

not ready for a runway model Bond again just yet...

Thinking about the Bond future, I can see them changing actors but still keeping the Craig era tone to the next generation films. So unless it's just Craig himself that you don't like, I think some of you may continue to be disappointed for awhile.

I agree 77007, even when DC Leaves the tone of the movies will carry on.

No, I don't yearn for the day when Daniel Craig gives up the role. I don't understand people who want the years to roll by quickly. Cherish what you've got. Daniel Craig's interpretation is his own & good for him in finding a new avenue to explore within the limitations of the character. One day Daniel Craig will be no more. But even as an admirer I'll probably welcome it, thinking he's had his shot & left his own distinctive legacy. Who will take over? I neither know nor really care at this point. That'll be part of the fun for the future.

As long as Daniel Craig doesn't start acting like Vice President Joe Biden did in the debates last night, I won't have a problem seeing Daniel Craig in 2 more James Bond movies.
I thought Joe Biden was a cocky, arrogant, son of a @%+!#

I still enjoy Craig's Bond, so I'm in no hurry for his era to end. (And I thought Biden was terrific last night!)

I like DC, completely, but I do recognize that the series must have change. It always has, and that's one of the things that makes it great.

I'm actually watching Prometheus as I write this and I give my 100% support to Fassbender as the next Bond. Oddly enough, if EON manages to hold together the time frame that has been bounced around of Bond 24 in 2014, and Bond 25 in 2016, Fassbender will be about 38, 39 - right around the age to take the Bond role IMO. :D

Kind off...I like Craig though I do like the handing over of the tux which doesn't happen often.
Henry Cavill is my next choice...

They'll have to dust off the old Connery rugs for Fassbender to wear.
