    Cheers Andy.

Taking a while to nail this one but will be worth it in the end.

    MILK TOP?!

i think CJ's eye deceive him again. it's not a milk top, but a cast from a pattern i turned and knurled myself after I could find anything close enough for the job.

and seriously ed, I'm nothing amazing, there are people, yourself included who can do the same, and better than me. i just enjoy showing to you guys that it is possible to make stuff from the films, and it doesn't have to cost the earth.

ok, so it's not something little johny could afford to make with his pocket money, and i must have thrown hundreds of pounds at my hobby, but it keep me reletively sane, and i've met a whole bunch of cool friends through it.

cheers for now, i'll post an update when this is finished in a couple of weeks time all going well.

I know its not...but it DOES look like one as you cast it in the same colour as one. :))

When I saw the original at Eon it looked exactly like your version. I was surprised to see the jack plug connected to the top when I pulled it out.

I'd stick to turning it from ali then anodise to the perfect metallic red. Looking really good, how goes it with the display?
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
Well although the original was Ali, it wasn't anodised.

I've actually been staring at the perfect 'donor' for weeks without realising it. What's the phrase about not seeing the wood for the trees?

Anyways, I got a good colour match for the knobs, plus when you've got a few to do, turning everything by hand can be an un-necessary laborious and time consuming task.

As for the display, the stand was made weeks ago. Next revealing will be on completion.

I actually meant the LED time display Jeff, my bad on the anodised, that's what it looked like to me :#
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
Well from what I've seen, the paint has flaked off, I've not seen anodised Ali do that.

Anyways, as for the display, not much to report as yet. When I know anything I'll report back here.

    Funny you should say that....

I'm working on something else right now, but while waiting for filler to set, glue to dry etc I've done this bit by bit.

I'm afraid that there's no time to be doing a run right now, so these are for my personal collection only, but there is one planned for the future...

Must say, I'm really rather chuffed with this one, and the circuitry has been made to a real high standard.

    Enjoy guys
