The London Olympics is heading towards the finishing line and thoughts will begin to turn to the Closing Ceremony. The musical director is very well known to us all, David Arnold: "To me, this should be the greatest after party in the world." The show will feature 4,100 people including 20 household British names performing 30 numbers. Amongst those performing are expected to be George Michael, Brian May, Pet Shop Boys, Annie Lennox, and The Spice Girls who were pictured rehearsing standing on top of black taxi cabs.
Just want to take a moment to congratulate the country of England, the cty of London, and anyone else that had anything to do with the Olympics, job well done. -{
Thankfully, this time the closers The Who pulled it off and Rog seemed in good voice. Wish he'd flatten his hair for gigs tough, and not sure about his clobber.
Some of this must have been mimed, not sure which parts though. The sound quality early on was awful, Madness sounded rubbish ( I'd be glad to never hear Our House ever again) as were the Pet Shop Boys, George Michael was okay but even he can't hit the high notes of Freedom any more.

Considering how well it has managed to unite the country and the prevelance throughout of the Union Jack in all corners of the land rather than the St George's Cross, this was definitely a truly British games.
On a sidenote, I was lucky enough to be in the Olympic Park cheering on Team GB last week, and it was a day to remember. It was like a parallel universe of happy, friendly, chatty, relaxed people, from TfL to the Armed Forces on security to the Games Makers. If only we could have that level of efficiency and positivity every day.

Not a big fan of the Paralympics though, but anyone here saw the closing ceremony of the paralympics?
