Bond and Beer...

Having read the various reactions to Bond being said to actually drink a Heineken in the upcoming movie Skyfall I was interested to read this article on potential hops and barley based bevvies for 2012 Bond.

Personally I don't mind a Heineken, but prefer (as I think Bond would) a decent real ale, preferably hand pumped.
Having travelled extensively myself though, this is, as in Bond's world not always an option. Therefore, one has to rely on some bottled brews and the Germans with their Reinheitsgebot are always a safe bet, as are the good old Belgians. Or if sticking to the tap, a Guinness always delivers, wherever you find yourself in this world.

Anyway, like Austin Powers it seem JB feels the need for a Heiny… well I for one say "CHEERS" to that… or Proost, or Gezondheid {[]

I don't get the whole Heineken thing. Not my favorite at all. In the 70's when I couldn't afford it I thought of it as one of the best. Now, I just wouldn't even look at it. Perhaps the interest is just carried over from the days that JFK drank it. Remember the picture on Air Force One, JFK is gazing out the window and he has a bottle of Heineken in front of him? In the early 60's a foriegn beer was considered very exotic.

Today there are so many choices of great beer, why choose a Heineken?

Heineken is gnats piss. Bond would drink a good beer/lager, get sloshed, go for a curry and wake up with a massive hangover next to some old slapper. Ha )

There are many more ways to go than ONE for good Dutch beer… how can you possibly neglect Hoegaarden?

As a point of fact, he also almost had a beer in LTK. Pam Bouvier orders a "Bud with lime" and Bond asks for the same. He's in a seedy place, and he's following her lead, but he does order it just the same!
