In all, this is looking like a fun entry into the Bond game franchise...and I'm glad they did choose to create levels inspired from the different Bonds (although imposing Craig's image into each level seems to defeat the purpose). I'm somewhat surprised to see Goldfinger as the Connery choice...in a way, Goldfinger was revisited a bit in the Rogue Agent game (along with Dr. No). I would have preferred some type of Thunderball level, but I can see where YOLT would be well-suited.
I'm not one for rushing out to buy games on the release date, but this one might just fit the bill for me right now.
PS - I dont hate OHMSS, i just think its not video game material
I do agree with this.
OHMSS is one of my top Bond films, but it doesn't have a whole lot of action compared to most of the other Bond films; while the mission looks like it will be really good fun in my opinion, it is worth noting that all we've seen of it seems to be based on one scenario, the climactic battle at the end (although the snowmobile chase will probably be the game's take on the ski chase earlier in the film). All of the other missions (especially Goldfinger) have showcased more variation in the scenarios.
1- Doctor No
2 - Goldfinger
3 - A View to a Kill
4 - Living Daylights
5 - Tommorow Never Dies
6 - Skyfall
Although Goldfinger looks like it'll probably be the best mission (somewhat unsurprisingly), I do find it bizarre that Dr. No wasn't selected, since the game is celebrating the 50 years since its release. On the other hand, if any Bond film is to be considered a "legend", it is undoubtedly Goldfinger, so missing that out would have been fairly criminal as well.
I don't think it would have been appropriate for them to miss out Lazenby's film, but maybe they could have just not had such a strict idea of only one mission per Bond and upped the roster to about 10. I'm happy with the current 6, so my additional 4 would be:
*Dr. No
*Live and Let Die
*A View to a Kill
*Tomorrow Never Dies
Even if films like AVtaK are a bit lacking until the final act, most of the missions look like they're only taking scenes from the last half an hour or so, in which case AVtaK would be ideal. LaLD is one of the most classic Bond films for me, so I'm a bit disappointed that it isn't in there already, although I suppose it would be quite difficult to pull off in keeping with the current games' semi-realistic tone.

I'm sorry - but that is the funniest thing I've read for awhile )
Have you honestly seen the movie ?
It's PACKED full of action, with a FAR higher action quota than any other Bond film !
I saw it a few months ago :L
Honestly, I don't remember it having much action. There was the ski chase, the car chase before the barn scene, and the battle at the summit at the end, but what else was there besides that, other than the brief fight in the hotel suite??

Then you are due a re-watch
It opens with a beach fight - and then hardly stops until the end....I have heard lots of things levelled at OHMSS but NEVER a lack of action )
As for the 007 legends, i'm not in a rush for it, like i wasn't with previous games, but i'll certainly want to get play it.
OHMSS would make a great game itself, personally i think Barry's soundtrack is awesome (and Best), but look at it when it has different soundtrack innit - Lack of action? where? Check this one out by AJB member WordsAndDreams:
Here are the missions I would have chosen for each actor:
Connery - YOLT (I think the little nellie sequence and the volcano lair would suit well for a game
Lazenby - OHMSS (Obviously his only film, but I'm on the side that thinks it suits well for a game)
Moore - AVTAK (Close with LALD. But I think AVTAK's mine, blimp, and golden gate fight would work great in a game)
Dalton - LTK (Although either would work well I think)
Brosnan - TWINE (Would say GE but it's been done. TWINE's PTS is made for a game IMO)
Craig - Skyfall (Just because)
I have no idea if any of these have already been used in games before btw.... so permission to slap me if they have )

The only one of those I'd really disagree with you on is The World is Not Enough, because it had its own game when it was released, like GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies before it. Die Another Day didn't get the treatment, so it makes sense that it'll be in the game, and I reckon it'll be great fun as a video game mission anyway
Though if Goldfinger is one of the missions as it appears to be, I'm stumped how they will make that work without Mr Frobe.
It's worth noting that Fröbe didn't actually perform the English voicework in the film; apparently he was too slow delivering the lines in English, as he could barely speak English before being cast in the film, so English actor Michael Collins had his voice dubbed over Fröbe's. However, the film's German release featured Fröbe's voicework, although it had to be dubbed in.
The point is, though, that they won't really need him to make it work. I'm pretty sure some of the voices are already just going to be lines taken directly out of the films and edited into the game anyway.

What I heard of Goldfinger's voice in game was bad. So they do need someone closer. I thought Goldfinger's voice in film was perfect. I didn't know it was a dub. Nor any of the other actors and actresses for that matter when I originally watched the movies.
I like it but I feel they over use Goldfinger theme as it where but I'm liking what I'm seeing and hoped that they could do a film into for ever mission as it where
Uh... was that the whole thing? It felt mostly like a Goldfinger and Die Another Day mash-up. The lack of vocals for some reason made me feel like I was watching the transformation of James Bond into Spider-Man, having just been bitten in the PTS.
Is Skyfall going to be the last mission? It has to be, the other Craig films were in the QoS game. I´m really happy with this but why are they releasing the game earlier than the movie (oct. 16) it would be a big spoiler. If so, I´m not playing that level until I watch de movie. X-(

The SkyFall level will not be included on the disc. It will be downloaded at no additional cost, separately a short while after the game's release. It is expected to be available around the film's release, if not just prior to.
That said, yes, you may be able to have the mission, but not play it due to spoilers. Most film tie-in games release before the films they are based on to help promote the film's launch and because the game will sell best if it is already on store shelves when people walk out of the theatre in a positive mood about the film.
The game Quantum of Solace's somewhat inaccurate adaptation of the films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace is not an uncommon flaw. Many film tie-ins alter the plot or create a somewhat separate story on purpose due to spoilers, needing more material to play, and needing more suitably playable scenarios compared with the film they are tied to.
here a link to a artical that look clear up some if not all the reason why 007 legends is what it is as it where I still have a miner few question with the game as it where and they are Why in hell is Jinx look different if you know what I'm saying, 2 will the game on line be better then reloaded with all the games modes with out having to get from another shop just to get an item I.E the Walther ppk if you get it from game stop.
I know the game not out but I'm just speaking my mind as it where but I'm sure that this link ether give an answer to questions or questions to ask.
Athena Stamos visits Activision studios and chats with Associate Producer Dino Verano to find out what the game designers have done to mark the 50th Anniversary of James Bond with their newest game, 007 Legends.
I do like how the opening sequence features small visual segments based on each film... Jill's painted body from Goldfinger, the blizzard-struck slopes from On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the burning oil and machete-wielding Sanchez from Licence to Kill, the diamonds and lasers from Die Another Day, and finally the satellite from Moonraker.
I'm fairly impartial, however, on how the music itself is based solely on Goldfinger; if they were to base it on any one mission from the game then Goldfinger would obviously be the best choice, as both the title song and the film itself are undoubtedly the most 'legendary', but they could have tried mixing parts of all of the five title songs, or just come up with something original, like EA used to do with their Bond games.

Oops. Stupidly I completely forgot about this, Thanks for pointing it out.
The trailers look fantastic, I am not much of a Gamer (not out of choice) but this looks amazing! I think the film choices are wise ones, and I love the opening title sequence. Looks like a lot of care and attention to detail has been put into this.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
I really like the idea of 'reimagining' the old movies for the current Bond. I really enjoy wondering how one would approach the same stories if you were doing them now.
Plus it works in reverse. We can ponder what Sean Connery's version of Goldeneye set in the sixties might have been like. Replace all the torn down Soviet statues with torn down Nazi monuments maybe?
I hate to be negative but i've just got to get this off my chest. From what i've read and seen, they've just cobbled together a hodgepodge of gameplay styles based on popular gaming mediums but forgetting to underpin them with any context or depth in the story writing to justify their inclusion. From the beginning, the concept of "007 Legends" as a compilation style adventure just seemed odd and the reviews reflect that. I expected it to just be a clone of Goldeneye Reloaded but so far it seems to have fallen short of even that.
007 gaming has simply lost its charm. Gaming developers like Activision need to realise there is more to 007 than running, sneaking and shooting. What about all those cool undercover moments where you need to question a suspect? Going to the bar, asking for a martini, having a believable open level where you can really look around and interact rather than be cut off by an invisible wall. Even the briefings of the missions feel meaningless in their dispassionate single-screen overview of the mission rather than walking to M's office, listening to the banter, seeing the office environment around you to really pull you into the story. The only good that can come from 007 Legends is a wake up call to the developers based on all these bad reviews that the fans demand something FAR MORE than the approach of late.
Need further evidence of Activision's lack of innovation? Take a look at this and tell me it doesn't replicate the bar scenes from Bloodstone and Goldeneye Reloaded:
- Its surreal to see Daniel Craig's Bond with Tracy.
- Its great to see Blofeld back, but puzzled that its Donald Pleasance this time even though it was Charles Grey in Goldeneye.
- Not surprised to see Halle Berry's likeness not be used (probably asked for too much money), but not using Jeffrey Wright for Felix Leiter is severely disappointing.
- Gustav Graves still has the God damn electric suit!
- If they make a sequel, I hope to see Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Diamonds Are Forever, Live And Let Die, The Man With The Golden Gun, and The World Is Not Enough as missions.
SPOILERS!!!
Goldfinger starts in the Miami hotel where Bond finds Jill's golden corpse.
In Her Majesty's Secret Service starts with Bond already dating Tracy. She is still considering his marriage offer before all Hell breaks loose. During the Piz Gloria attack, Bond knocks Blofeld (Pleasance version!!!) off a cable car. Some time later after their wedding, Blofeld does a drive-by shooting on Bond's Aston Martin taking Tracy's life.
License To Kill starts with Bond finding Della dead already. Felix Leiter is some white guy now and he's wounded, but his leg is intact. Benecio Del Toro's likeness is kept for Dario.
Die Another Day starts with Bond already in Gustav's Ice Palace where he first meets a Caucasian Jinx. He doesn't have the vibration ring. Zao is killed when Bond knocks his car into Icarus's beam during their car battle on the frozen lake.
Moonraker starts off with Bond heading to the space shuttle before take-off. Dr. Goodhead has been changed into a less attractive Pam Bouvier. UGH! Bond fights Jaws at the space port and its more exciting than what we saw in Brazil. Bond doesn't shoot Drax with a poison dart.
Due to time constraints on storytelling from movie to game, Tilly Masterson, Joe Butcher, Lupe Lamora, Miranda Frost, and Dolly are ignored.

You could make a great game from OHMSS. Or parts of it. That was my thinking on a Bond project at least.
