SKYFALL has arrived...and the 007 Legends final mission is available in the US to download for free today on PlayStation Network, and November 20th on Xbox LIVE and Steam (PC).
Does anyone know if the Wii U version of the game will be different, as it's not out yet? I'm hoping a couple of missions are changed, like ANY Moore film instead of Moonraker would do me nicely...

Pardon me if this was posted before but the reason why James Bond's voice sounds different is ue to the fact that Daniel Craig was apparently unavalible to lend his voice to the game so an actor named Timothy Watson provides Bond's voice instead.
I'm guessing there will be a follow up along the same lines, but with TB and probably LALD among the films used. Activision will keep squeezing money out without putting much in.

007 Legends entered the UK Top 40 Entertainment Software chart at number 12 before slipping two places the following week, then slumped to 24 in the third week. Industry tracker VG Chartz estimates the game has sold 13,286 units in the USA in three weeks, which would make it the poorest performing 007 title in recent years.

I just got the WiiU version for Christmas, along with a WiiU. I have not tried the multiplayer yet so I am afraid I cannot comment on how it is. I am hoping to try it soon thought, and once I do I will tell everyone how it is.
Has Activision cancelled it's license to develop James Bond games after disappointing sales? Activision published games have been pulled from sale on Steam and Activision's own web store. 007 Legends, James Bond 007: Blood Stone, and Quantum of Solace are no longer listed.
I hope Bioware will get the license rights...
I actually thought 007 Legends was ok. But I didn't have any expectations after reading all the negative reviews.

Its looking like Activision has dropped the license as more and more game news outlets are reporting that all their games have been pulled. Good riddance if it is true as their titles were never able to rise above mediocrity and were all obvious rush jobs that relied too much on the Bond name while never taking advantage of the brand's history or strengths. Their games were always timed to be released during the holidays and the 12 month development cycles made it pretty much impossible to release a good product.
As to who might pick up the license next, Bioware is actually owned by Electronic Arts, who dropped the 007 license around 2005. The split between EA and EON was rumored to be pretty acrimonious and EA has really moved towards developing original IPs instead of licensing them.
Personally, I think Ubisoft or Eidos would be good choices to pick up the license as they've produced good games over the years without strip-mining their properties to the extent that Activision has done. Another interesting choice might be Bethesda; they acquired Id Software last year (makers of classic games like Doom and Quake) so they have access to some good game engine technology and they've also released some solid action/RPG hybrids (the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games).
So happy Activision is out. They've tremendously failed to capture the essence of "being Bond" in four games. EA wasn't that bad after all, except for the fact they didn't make Bond games for PC with the exception of Nightfire (which sucks, the PC version I mean).
Hope Rockstar could get the license, or EA again or why not Rare?

According to NeoGamr, Activision's licence to publish video and PC games based on the James Bond series has expired, which is why the PC games were removed from the download stores. The Activision license was supposed to last until 2014. No information on if a new game publisher has been brought in to tell future virtual adventures of 007.

Why was the split acrimonious? Hadn't heard that story before so am curious as to what supposedly happened.

If this news is true, then I must admit I am not surprised. Activison really did not treat the licence with the respect it was due at times. Just look at how badly 007 Legends was excuted as a game, and how fast it was discounted at most retailers as a result.
As for Rare getting the licence to make games based the films, it seems unlikely since Microsoft bought Rare years ago and if they some how got the licence than any new video games would all be exclusive to Xbox consoles/PC's only since Rare(or rather what is left of them) is so tightly controled by Mircrosoft that they cannot make games for other systems.
I hope that if somebody else picks up the licence then we will finally see good games being made again.

Totally don't understand this idea. Mass Effect 1 is my favorite game, but BioWare today is a pretty standard Blockbuster developer owned by EA. Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age III (the 3's should be a hint at how BioWare's vision has changed alongside their EA ownership who have opened multiple BioWare studios) are definitely trend-influenced and don't hold the original entries' visions firm.
BioWare is just a brand under EA now that is using similar talent and structure to all of the big publishers.

Rockstar wouldn't be likely as they don't do licensed, and they are really just a network of studios under the Take Two Games publisher who also owns 2K Games.
Rare is now a very different developer that is owned by and develops for Microsoft exclusively on Xbox 360.
EA is a possibility, as well as Ubisoft. They both are not shut off from licensed games yet.
Maybe some ACTUAL stealth could exist in the game like Splinter Cell if Ubisoft got it.

I agree that the stealth game play should be overhauled since many gamers complained that 007 Legends failed in this aspect. I am still stuck on the first level, and even though I can break stealth and not fail this level, I would rather use stealth since Goldfinger's factory is huge and they are too many places get ambushed from.

It's been a while but if I recall correctly, back around late 2004-early 2005 EA was developing another James Bond game centered around an original story. With the imminent arrival of Casino Royale, EON wanted a game based on that movie which used Daniel Craig's likeness even though that meant EA would have had to scrap most of the work they had already done and bring a Casino Royale game in under a very tight deadline. Instead, they dropped the Bond license one year early and their press release made cryptic references to preferring the creative freedom of original IP's (intellectual properties) as opposed to licensed properties.
007 Legends is one of six nominees for outstanding achievement in video game writing at the Writers Guild Awards, which will be held on the 17th February. The video game writing award, in its sixth year, honours a script from a video game published between 1st December 2011 and 30th November 2012.
The WGA nominations list for the video game category is as follows.
007 Legends
Assassin's Creed III
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation
Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
Halo 4
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
I'm curious how people feel about it being an adaptation in that award category.

If it wins this award I will be surprised since many game critics said the story's attemp to fit six films into one video game was poorly excuted, along with changing key scenes to be more action oriented( Using the minigun on the helicopter during the OHMSS level for example).
