Didn't come with the tow truck - just a nice box
Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious!
I always wished the Esprit turbo had played a larger part other than simply blowing up to make way for the slapstick clown wagon of the 2cv.
Don't get me wrong, I'm quite fond of roger's bond (except that daft lasers in space crap) but felt that the 2cv chase could have been far better executed using the lotus.
Welcome to ajb Lex, make yourself at home and hope that your stay is a long and productive one -{

DG
"People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." Richard Grenier after George Orwell, Washington Times 1993.
hi,, nothin!,, the GD is a good replica, i was looking for either a GD or a DAX, the dax came 1st,, do you have a GD ?
Don..
Ive submitted new post in EVENTS,, have a look fellas,,
Afraid not pal, I'm what you might consider the more erm... 'frugal' kind of member (ie thanks to them government types, expendable income is now a long lost dream)
But that doesn't stop me dreaming. With cars playing a part in my family, whether it's been selling, racing or rallying, I've been brought up on axle grease and celly thinners.
However, with the dax and the GD427, there's a commonality with my favourite car. I'll give you some clues, see if you can work it out.
1959, 90"
Ring any bells?
I went to see Andy Burrows about it and sadly I got one figure wrong on my plans and the idea folded. I never had the balls to go back and point out my mistake, something I've always regretted and a situation that's always left me thinking what might have been had I got my sums right.

i bought mine last sept,, only used it for 5 days since,, when im home next month, its coming straight out of storage,,
Well a car I adore made headlines in 59, although it was made in 57. It shares a dimension of 90" with the gd427. I had the idea of making something if the two, but I got the internal dimension of the cockpit mixed up with the external dimension and it was decided it was too narrow to work. It actually WOULD work cos the dimensions are very close to the gd427 but I never had the face to go back and explain

I'm guessing MG's dream car is 1957 Aston Martin DBR1 [ it's wheelbase is 2286 mm (90 inches) ] and the year was 1959
when it was driven to victory by Roy Salvadori in 24hrs Le Mans B-)

Tep, you know me too well.
Yeah, of course it had to be an aston didn't it?
I went to see this car and took many research pics, and even got to have a sit in it, in the same seat that many greats, (Stirling moss, Roy salvadori, tony brooks, Noel Cunningham-Reid to name few) have sat in.
Beautiful and priceless car. :x

i was told someone (who'll remain anonymous) offered the current owner £30m and got turned down.
the original engine that powered the car to its win in 59 now resides in a glass case in the study of the owner, so he paid the company that looks after it to make a new engine from scratch.
