That makes financial sense too. The Budget for the Bond films is huge, but also has to be tightly controlled. What's the point of casting a well known actor if you will only be able to afford their salary for one, possibly two films, when you can get a relative unknown locked in for double that, at a percentage of the cost?
In the end as always, I leave the casting to Debbie McWilliams, the speculation to the press, and focus on enjoying the films.

Another screwed up former child actor.....not too many seem to make a gracefull transition to adulthood. While Bales carreer as an adult has flourished, he appears to be quite the trainwreck as a human being.
One of the few child stars/actors I can think of who has been both a success as an adult and appears to be a really decent person is Jason Batemen.

Wasn't her claim to fame she shagged Liam Neeson? Before he moved on to Julia Roberts. When he was like, er, unknown, bfore achieving fame as a "serious" actor, turned Bond down cause he didn't want to do action films, before "disappearing", and then coming back in, erm, action movies....
Not really a fan of BAle myself or his work, although I loved 3.10 to Yuma, IMHO probably
The only remake that I can think of that is better than the original(never could take to Glen Ford).
Yet it was not Bale that stood out in this film for me or even Russell Crow, it was the guy who played Crows psycho sidekick IMO who stole the show.
Anyway to answer the question NO I do not think Bale would make a good villain as I believe he would be in the same vien as the last two who to me are rather tedious.
Take a look at him in Shaft as a racist murderer IMO he was so boring.

I'm just watching "Sherlock"on DVD. I can't help thinking Denedict Cumberbatch is a better fit for Bond than Bale at this time. He is a rising star, unlike Bale who is an established star. He is very close to the height of the Bond in the novels (6 feet). He is a very good actor, he is atletic and moves well in fights. He has dark hair and striking looks and a wonderfull voice. At 36 he has a short window of time before he gets too old to be a starter Bond, but that is his major drawback as far as I'm conserned.
That and the fact he looks nothing like Bond whatsoever....
You mean like Craig, eh? Perfect photo-fit for Fleming's Bond.
When Craig goes, I think EON'll look for a very different twist on Bond again, and I'd have thought Cumberbatch could well be taken into consideration.

Cumberbatch has that louch, insouciance down nicely. And, while not quite Eton, he was educated at Harrow....
