Hunting for whisky in the novels! Help?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to track down which Ian Fleming Bond book features the whisky
Talisker in it.

I know that Bond drank Talisker in the some of the books, but
I don't which titles specifically.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!
Chris

Here's a link to James Bond lifestyle.
Not the novels but it has appeared in two movies, TWINE & DAD.
also in the comments Johannes writes, that a bottle of Talisker can be seen
    at the bar in CR.

    I'm sure someone will be along with more info on the novels. -{

Thanks TP, I saw that post too after some exhaustive Google searching.
It's specifically the books I'm after and I don't have the time or money
to go through them all as I'm on a short deadline.

    Hopefully someone will know.

    Great name BTW!

Maybe ask same question on mi6-hq.com, they're more hardcore than us. We're fairweather Bond fans in comparison, we're not really experts on this site. :)

I believe that the book you are looking for is Diamonds are Forever. JB and Felix consume lots of Whiskey and Branch water! Great story!

Talisker is the Whiskey that James drinks in the movie "The World is Not Enough"

    Hi!

There used to be a website called "Make mine 007 or Atomic Martinis" that had an exhaustive analysis of every beverage James Bond consumes in the books as well as in the movies.

Alas the site is no more.

Anyways according to the Atomic Martinis James Bond did not consume Talisker in the novels. The only Scotch brand mentioned in the books is Haig & Haig "Pinch" bottle, which can still be found quite easily. In some countries (like here in Finland) it is sold as "Dimple". Most often James Bond drinks bourbon, or just "Scotch".

    Cheers

Wow thanks so much 0073, that's the kind of website I've been looking for
    for weeks!

I guess Talisker is a no go in the novels. I did scan the whole of the book DAF
    and found nothing.

    Thanks for the help :)

I don't remember any Talisker in the books.
He drinks Old Grandad bourbon, and Pinch scotch.
Talisker is a movie thing as far as I know.

Over the past two years I have re-read all of the Bond novels and as Talisker has long been one of my favourite scotch whiskys, I think I would have noticed it if it had been mentioned therein. That said, I have checked Stephan Kurr's "007 on the Rocks: A Guide to the Drinks of James Bond" (foreword by our own Mantis) and according to it, cinema Bond has a Talisker on the rocks in M's office in TWINE, while in DND "... in Havana Bond enjoys a scotch on the rocks with a Cuban informant (probably Talisker scotch whisky)..." This comprehensive study makes no mention of Talisker in any of the books.

Talisker only appeared in the films, it was never mentioned in any of the books. Bond drinks the following whiskys in the novels:

    Black & White (MR)
    Haig & Haig (LALD)
    Jack Daniels (OHMSS and YOLT)
    Old Grand-Dad (LALD and DAF)
    I.W. Harper (OHMSS)
    Suntory (YOLT)

    Probably I've missed something.
