Let's go with not! I consider myself to be both a devoted "Bond fan" and a proud member of the "current audience", and I'm sure there are many more of us out there. I hope that clears it up.
"Bond fans" are not necessarily excluded from the "current audience", you know. I have been a Bond fan from day one, and Craig's contemporary Bond works fine for me. I thought it was obvious with the launch of Casino Royale that the producers of the series intended to take us back to Bond's beginnings, although in a modern setting, and let us watch Bond evolve into the agent we have become familiar with. I guess it's not as obvious as I thought.
yes these are very good points...one would think that the Bond movies are made for the Bond fans but the 'comtemporary-izing' of Bond is cleary for the current audience.
as others have posted here, since there is a progressive vanishment of the classy, elegant and measured, it is understandable that Craig's films would show it less and less as well.

not 'necessarily' or not??
well i agree...im enjoying Craig's take tremendously and am actually a big fan of QOS.
But im beginning to find that there is an element of 'giving it slack' to his films being that its Bond in its early onset...he has to start being 'classic' Bond soon (and all this would take as Gassy Man stated is for Craig to enjoy himself just a tad bit more...or rather the whole project team needs to make Craig's Bond do this).
He has to not be a human wrecking ball. When I see a James Bond film I expect to see James Bond, not the Punisher.
I'm with you there. He's been winning his fights a little too easily so far. He needs a 'Red Grant' this time around, someone who will really put him through his paces.
I'm with you - I'd like to see Craig's Bond loosen up a bit with a clever quip here and there as long as it's not overdone. Also, a few scenes of him enjoying the "perks" of his profession wouldn't be a bad idea. One thing I like so much about Connery is that he was able to have those moments and still generate a fair amount of suspense and danger in the more serious scenes (Diamonds Are Forever notwithstanding). But it's an awfully delicate balance to achieve, and if it's even slightly off-kilter it would signiificantly diminish the appeal of Craig's version of 007 for me. I hope the producers (and Craig) can pull it off.
