Unfortunate Sun front page today. You can understand their wanting to stick with the death by drone of Jihadi John, rather than the breaking news of the Paris attacks. Sadly, with the headline 'Jihaddit coming' and the bloke himself brandishing a knife, it does rather seem like he is taunting us from beyond the grave, presumably not what the sub editors had in mind.

No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. ~ Nelson Mandela.

I think they must have published too early for the full news of the Paris attacks - "20 dead" mentioned in the corner and the actual story is tucked away quite far into the newspaper.

It's all so sad, you feel so helpless, all you can do is sympathise .
I'm certain France will be working out ways to bring justice to
    These cowardly terrorist groups.
I think it's about time the west adopted some of the Israeli militaries
Tactics, admittedly some will have to be carried out as " Black ops"
and never documented, and here in the UK, any protesters in support
of ISIS, or extremist Islamic views, or protesting at the funerals of dead
    Soldiers, Should be immediately deported.
If you don't want to live here, with our freedoms. Then find somewhere else

    ^ Very much agreed, TP.

The French people and nation have my deepest sympathy. France is one of the UK's oldest allies and we here see this as an attack on us and our shared values as well. This terrorist detritus will not win, no matter how many they kill. We need to regroup as the West together and remove this terrorist blot on the landscape with renewed vigor and resolve.

The reasons for these brutal and cowardly attacks on Paris?

It's the hatred of the Western world and its liberal democracy values. This terrorist detritus cannot be reasoned with; they want nothing less than the complete destruction of Western civilisation. They will therefore never be satisfied and cannot rationally be reasoned with. Their reading of Islam is false as they have been radicalised by hate preachers and other extremists. Ordinary peace-loving Muslims are not the problem here. It is the false doctrine of the extremists that guides their actions, not a true reading of Islam or the Koran.

Watching a recent debate on extremists, an expert on the Koran stated
These terrorist views are actually against the teachings of the Prophet.
To kill an unarmed civilian, is a sin which will prevent you reaching
    Paradise.
These terrorists have bastardised the religion, into something far removed
From the Koran and have in fact have killed more Muslims, than any other
    religion.
If any government wants to secretly implement a " shoot to kill" or similar
Operation, then that's fine with me.
I'd use every power we've got Military, intelligence, financial, against ISIS
    and their supporters.

One has to wonder if the terrorist attacks will lead to more votes for the nationalist National Front party.
Also, I just heard that one of the terrorists came to Europe as a boat refugee (via Lersos in Greece). Will atitudes to the migrant wave change because of this?
How will this influence French interior and foreign politics?

One of the terrorists had a ticket to the football match. Three bombs exploded outside of the stadium. Thankfully the bombs did not explode inside the crowded stadium. The French president was among the audience - was he a target?

Before someone starts bashing on refugees again, one has to realize, that these refugees have suffered from the IS terror on a daily basis.
They are the victims and come to seek for our help. Rejecting them for whatever reason is simply not right.
And if IS managed/s to transport someone thru these masses of refugees, this can hardly be a reason to let the others suffer for them and to close our doors.

If the Paris attacks show one thing, it is that terrorists will find their way to their targets - no matter what.

Like number24 says, one of the terrorists had a stadium ticket and tried to enter 15 minutes after kickoff. The security discovered his explosive belt and the terrorist tried to escape and ignited it on his run. That was the first explosion which could be heard over the tv.

I don't want to imagine what could have happened if he'd managed to get in.
I don't think that he main target was Hollande or the other guests, unfortunately these people want to kill as many people as possible, regardless of sex, nationality, religion or status.

Unfortunately these terrorists who hate people play in the cards of these right- wing parties of 'worried patriots' who basically don't stand for freedom and human rights as well.

Stopping all the migrants because one of them was a terrorist makes no sense. But I think I can say the volume of migrant is a problem and no matter what you think of the migrant crisis - this will change Europe.

    My beef for today:

AJB posters who find it funny/intelligent/relevent/cool quoting dialogues and/or song texts from the Bond movies outside of the "quotes" thread.
    Particularly without any further context!

I mean, we all know th text from "Do you know how Christmas trees are grown" and the salt corrosion line we all know well, too!

It's a bit like teaching us the melody from Yellow Submarine or how to operate the light switch! X-(

No, Barbel, these one- liners have at least a context to a previous comment.

What annoys me are dialogue repetitions just from the discussed movies as if we haven't heard those already a hundred ( or in your case thousand) times.

I don't really listen to the Steven Nolan radio show, as it gets all
The local nut jobs phoning in. 8-) but today he had an interview
a local man who had been at the music concert in Paris when the
    Terrorists began shooting everyone.
What began as an emotional heartfelt story about a bloke, using
Himself as a human shield to protect his girlfriend, soon turned into
The usual shouting match as the as mentioned local nut cases began
Phoning in X-( , as usual Paris was soon forgotten as one side here,
Blamed the other for all the troubles in the world.
People over here really do think the world revolves around us, when
quite frankly, the world has bigger problems to deal with !

While people all over the world grieve the Paris terrorist attacks, very few seeme to have noticed the ISIS bombings in Lebanon on Thursday. This small war-torn country that's taken far more than their share of refugees was hit by terrorist violence again.
Let's remember that the overwhelming majority of ISIS' victims are muslims in the Middle East.

I agree ISIS is so distorted in its view of the Koran, that basically
Everyone and everything is a legitimate target. Including children.

I've had heard an interesting argument re. ISIS and Syria.

If we are taking the position from a Syrian citizen, WE in Europe do export terror and terrorists to THEM. So far over 15.000 Europeans joined ISIS - mostly to terrorize the citizens of Syria.

So the fear, that terrorists may be "imported" thru the masses of refugees recently probably puts that into a perspective.
Besides that ISIS has the financial ressources and knowledge to put their people to Europe thru all modes of transportation - which doen't mean that we should all be getting better checking people who come into our countries.

I remember making a point recently about how we don't need the trident
Missile system at around £160 billion. When that money would be better spent
On the Intelligence services, the army ( more soldiers and better equipment).
As the threat these days come from terrorist groups, either domestic or
foreign. Not from traditional enemy governments.

As silly as this seems with the recent events in Paris.

I get annoyed when you mention in passing that you like Star Wars/Trek. Then someone says "are you into that stuff?"

It's not a bloody drug. I hate the stigma they get from certain groups of people. The same guy at work called Darth Vader, "Dark" Vader. I just shook my head.
