The misapplication and the misinterpretation of religion, yes.
No. I mean all religion. Full stop.
Now that's a bit harsh, to say the least of it. Can't say I agree as a person of faith. A gross oversimplification I would argue. Religion does a lot of good and some bad. It is man's application and misinterpretation of religion though, and not God's.

Agreed, but let us not tar all peoples of faith with the extremism brush. We need a sense of perspective to return ton the debate here. There must be balance lest we throw the baby out with the bathwater.

If you take solace in religion - that's fine, who am I to argue with you ? But religion has been at the centre of practically every war in this world - great acts of horror have been committed in the name of 'god'...imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try...
As we are on the subject of religion the great Bil Shankly once said football is more important than that Now this total farce with Big Sam has again made English football a laughing stock ,now I like big Sam ,after all he did play for Millwall ,but in my book ,he was too old (im old) ) This it what happens when the man who used to run the BBC ,now runs English football , Well Bernad Hogan-Howe is jacking it in ,perhaps the chairman of Siansburys could run the Met

I agree with the sentiment historically, but it's been a while since a fanatical group of Christians slaughtered innocent people.
Although over here, we've had organised child abuse, slavery and the selling of children
To middle class Australian parents , the constant fight against having to treat gay people
As equals. As well as the historical killings and the churches involvement in the slave trade !
( Not the fight against it ) ..... So in my opinion, not a great track record. as Ghandi once said
"I like your Christ but not your Christians "
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Though to be fair tp are those religious issues or the acts of zealots, pedophiles and small minded people hiding behind religion? I'm not sure Buddhists do much harm? I basically disagree with religion as a whole, the Bible was rewritten by the Romans, the profit Muhammed by today's standards would have been classed a pedophile and no one can explain the dinosaurs existence
Only my opinion but, I believe religion was used to explain things before we developed science.
Also the Bible is technically wrong in so many points. One example .......
Woman was made from man's rib ( obviously setting man up as the superior sex)
When infact at the early stages, we're All female ( that's why men have nipples)
Even the Bible is happy with slavery, " slaves obey your masters" not " slavery is wrong, and you
Shouldn't do it "
If any Christians do want to kick off, there are plenty of passages to fuel the fires.
People who work on the Sabbath ........ Are to be Killed
Teenage pregnancy ..,.......................... Girls are to be Killed
There are loads more.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
It's an outdated model for sure, but I can never get past that the Bible is a work of fiction and was designed to further an agenda and appease many different factions which is why it encompassed beliefs from many different groups from pagens to barbarian it always tickles me how the pagen festival of Christmas is celebrated!
I did some reading on pagan religions, and found them very interesting. With only one
Commandment " do what you will, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else " ( I am paraphrasing )
I accept we all need a rock in our lives and if religion does it for some. Them I'm happy for them,
But. I don't see why they should get any special treatment under the law, or have a say in the laws
Of the country.
Now Football. ... I know nothing about the game, but with all sport that generates huge sums of money
Some people will be out to make a bit " on the side" , it's regrettable but part of human nature. I'm sure
Many see it as a perk of the job and nothing more.

Like you TP I know little about football really other than England are crap but the players are highly paid, and the back half of most papers is full of football frustratingly for a rugby fan while there were 20 pages of why England are crap the England Rugby team trounced the aussies in a record breaking series win and got a quarter page during the euros! I suppose shinto is more your thing though?
Sickening to see the storm hitting Haiti almost seven years after the terrible earthquake. People STILL

I told my wife yesterday ( before the government's decision was published ) that it was a
Foregone conclusion, as the government wants fracking, not just for gas, but to give them
Another board to join on leaving office

I'm still undecided about fracking, living in an area where it's happening I see no real reason for it not to happen, I don't take the arguments of the naysayers particularly well especially as the leading voice in the recent protest on the American ship bringing franked gas to the UK in Scotland travelled there from London in her new v8 Mercedes! The fracking sites I've seen are very small unassuming and surrounded by trees planted by the company, it also means that area remains green and undeveloped by housing developers who buy the land off farmers already rich from subsidies!
I too am undecided about it, my complaint is how government can ignore or even over throw local government !
Because then, what's the point of local councillors and politicians ? Why not save some money and have ALL
Decisions made in Westminster.

I think the quote you are referring too is about life and death - not religion.
Who ? Greg Clarke ? When did he run the BBC ? ?:)

Greg Dyke was Director general of the BBC I don't know of a Greg Clarke
But Greg Dyke has nothing to do with the FA anymore - he left awhile ago -{
Greg Clarke is the FA Chairman.
