Rant time ! X-(
After all the miss sold PPI calls, lately I'm getting a few calls about making a claim for
A car accident !
Our car was damaged in a car park by an old lady, but nobody hurt and everything
Settled. So why I'm now getting calls to make a claim for injuries sustained, when
No one was even in the car in the first place. No wonder car insurance is so expensive. X-(
I had an accident driving a works vehicle. A guy pulled out of a side road and T bone me. Christ that sounds a bit ginger beer don't it? Anyways, a few mates at work said I should claim compo as I twisted my back in the crash. I got in touch with a local law firm and had a preliminary meeting with them.
After things had cooled down I actually sat back and thought. Taking this guy for every penny could ruin him, he was driving a works vehicle too, and the chap was getting on a bit. With the prospect of this guy being let go because of the high pay out I was 'dead certain to get' (about 5k) I just couldn't have that **** on my conscience. Besides, I could work still, my works didn't give a stuff about the van as far as I was concerned, it was an honest (but admittedly stupid) mistake. The guy who hit me was in bits after the crash as well.
Anyway I digress, the point I'm getting to is that when I explained my change if heart and instructed the solicitors to cease all proceedings it virtually took me to threaten them with harassment to get them off my case. Daily calls, at least 2 letters a week they even 'offered' to come round in person to discuss 'my options'.
Part of me wishes I had sued, just to get the solicitors off my back )
Subsequently my back is now shot and it can take a couple of days to recuperate from lifting a heavy tool box ) yep, some ya win....
Any pay out would come via the vehicles insurers not the man himself. I fear all you've done is 'let off' the company he works for insofar as protecting them against any rise in insurance premiums.
I didn't give a stuff about his company, I was more concerned about the repercussions on the guy from his firm.
And before anyone says that it shouldn't/wouldn't and doesn't happen, yes it does.
He didn't see me because he simply wasn't looking in my direction. I remember very clearly that as he pulled out of the side road he was looking away from me.
God knows why, but there ya go, we're all human.
And I prefer that instead of letting a maniac killer driver go Scott free, I left a hard working guy to get on with his job without his boss sacking him for a major hike in insurance costs.
It might be your prerogative to assume the worst in people, and with you being an ex copper I understand that, but while I can be quite guarded and cynical myself, I try to see good people before making wild assumptions about people.
Sorry mate, you misunderstood me. When I said about making wild assumptions I was really referring to myself jumping to conclusions. It's easy to stereotype or judge at the drop of a hat.
Yeah I get what you say about possible scenarios, but there can be positive possible scenarios in life as well as negative ones.
"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" as they say.
Another situation I was in was when I had an accident that was caused by a parked and marked police car. The police car was parked illegally, was facing the accident it caused and then when the driver realised what had just happened they duly drove off without checking if anyone was hurt.
Now you'd assume that all police officers are law abiding sensible people with a sense of pride in their work and a care for the community they serve.... how's that for a wild assumption? :v
I've just seen on Twitter the hashtag #cut4zayn encouraging people to self harm in a bid to get Zayn Malik back in 1Direction ....
I've seen posts saying 'the quicker you cut the quicker he'll be back'
Words fail me and this is what parents have to contend with on a daily level with social media
That just beggars belief...I can't believe that these tweets can't be removed...perhaps the Police would care to chase up the perpetrators of this instead of hassling Clarkson...?...oh no, that wouldn't make the headlines would it ? :v
I love the internet and hate it at the same time. It brings about the best in people (fund raising, knowledge sharing, literacy, creativity etc) and the worst (trolling, threatening, mocking, inciting hatred, encouraging violence etc etc etc). I just don't know what to think when things like this happen.
I had learnt over the years ( stand by for a bit of wisdom ) ) while walking
to hold back passing large puddles in the road, until the traffic has passed.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I had a right laugh this morning. I was driving down the road & saw someone walking on the pavement, timing my move perfectly I ensured he got a soaking as I accelerated through a puddle. I'm guessing he went onto the internet to complain!!!!
