Thank you DBS and thelordflasheart for your comments, Im feeling very welcome!

About the fit, I believe the main problem are not the sleeves (long indeed, but acceptable) but the chest, too roomy acording the slim waist. But nothing serious anyway. I guess I should work out and increase my shoulders and arms :))

I also have to say its a very light jacket, not in thickness but in weight. Its a very very light leather. Also, the touch is very soft, and the key is that we are not talking strictly about "leather" surface, but suede surface. Is not a suede jacket, but feels like one. I wore the jacket under the rain a few times with no damage, any spots or marks.

The point is that same way as happen with suede, when you fondle the skin, you can see the finger trace; when you fondle in the opposite direcction, the trace dissapears (this not happen in all the jacket surface, just in the more distressed areas), this gives the jacket a extremely soft feeling.

I have some vintage jackets, 50s originals and 60s, and I know the difference between good leather and bad leather. This is (contrary to what some think) a good leather jacket, not just a pre-distressed famous branded product created just to be "cool". And when you touch and feel the jacket on you, you can understand the price (anyway, could be just a little more cheaper, for the good of us :)) ). Just not a traditional-facture leather jacket, lets not forget LVC its a luxury brand, and have to sell luxury.

By the way, sorry for my english!

anyone interested In buying a Levi Menlo in Brown size medium. Same as the bond jacket. Bought from Peggs and Son In Feb 2013. It has the levi label removed from the back. I removed this as I didn't want the missus tracking down how much it cost otherwise she would have gone crazy. I have the original receipt. Asking for £450 + P&P. Jacket has only been worn 3 times. UK Only.

If I didn't already have one I'd be all over it!..... Nice idea with the label by the way! I'm going to have to try that.

yeah took a while. I had to unstitch it. I would be in serious doo doo if the missus found out how much it was.

Wested has their images up now of their version. It looks pretty good actually, minus the long back length.

I think the leather and especially the distressing is a long way off the real deal.

Oh definitely no distressing done, and it's lamb instead of sheep. But I think with some wear and tear it would look pretty good. Def a good alternative. I've always had good experiences with Wested products.

    Hi Guys

I had a chance today to check out the Skyfall leafher jacket from Wested. Have to say its very nice. On line pictures do not do it justice. They have had to make some very mjnor changes for copy right reasons but end result still great. Leather distressed and closest match i have seen to Menlo not shiney no real distressing like scuffs or scrapes but you can add your own. Only had one in store size 42 (med) and it fitted like a glove lucky because I am a 38 to 40 (70kg 5ft 8ins 39 chest and 30 waist) so I was going to go for a small. Remember this is a fitted jacket! My order is in due in a couple of weeks :D

They also do Casino Royale but they are revamping design so watch website for further details

I will post pictures on receipt

    Cheers

    Great work Bond44!

I am a 42" chest so I was going to go for a medium, I am thinking a large will be a better fit now.

    Hi

The Small would probably have fiited very snugly for me. Only issue I saw was because its fitted any smaller than a medium and the tailored waist (32ins max i would say on the med) would not have fitted when it was done up. For further fitting advice feel free to call them they are most helpful. I tried one on in store some lucky punter gets theirs this week but I dont mind the two week wait. As they are a new line They are making to order at present so be prepared for a short wait if you do order.

The Casino Royale jacket they had in store looked nice but was two sizes up for me. I will get one of the new ones when they are back up on line.

    I hope this helps

    Cheers

Guys , I know nobody cares about the problem of weight and size of the new batch. But me I'm concerned and I contacted LEVIS about this problem, first I complain about the quality and after I joined the jared_nomak's pictures where we can see the differences. They sent me two answers and I want to share the second message :

    Hello ......,

Thanks for sending through the images.

I am really intrigued by these jackets. Are they both yours? Could I inquire about where you purchased them?
Also, we never released a new batch in 2013. It would be great to see these jackets in person, where are you located?

The black leather jacket was from our Spring Summer 2012 season, I have checked, and we do not have anymore of those in stock nor am I showing any available in other retailers.

    Best,

timiblade - Did Levis ever get back to you and confirm if they did make another batch of the LVC Menlo Jackets? I will be gutted if I've spent 625 notes on a non-genuine jacket.

Levi's Vintage contacted me yesterday and they asked me to find someone who have this new batch and who lives near Amsterdam. They have an office in Amsterdam and they wanted to check this new batch to figure out what's the problem. I'm not sure but I think they contacted Mr Porter.

Well they need to contact the Levi's Vintage store in London too as that's where I bought mine!

My guess is that both batches are genuine, but there are two different manufactures in Italy. Or maybe, two different contracts with two different houses/factories who made those jackets for Levi´s. Dont forget Levi´s dont made the jackets by itself, they work with houses like Aero...

I can say, according all the pictures Ive seen (original home made camera pictures, not magazines), mine -from Bench&Loom- is the same as the old batches from final 2012, but Im pretty sure that other jackets from the new batches are thiner, and with different pattern.

Ive made 2 samples. First one are pictures, from what I know and suppose, the original batches, including the Skyfall model and my own jacket (top right), or at least, one of the two suppliers of LVC. Look carefuly at the sleeves and the texture. The rest of the pictures were taken from jackets I saw in ebay couple of months ago.

    lvcsample.jpg

The second sample are all pictures from the same jacket (also ebay), and I believe, from "the other" supplier. For me, the texture is not the same. Looks more thinner and also look carefuly the different distance between the pockets and the bottom of the jacket. But maybe Im wrong and its all about the different pictures and lighting and perspective...

Thanks timiblade. I bought my jacket from Mr Porter. As CRB bought his jacket at the LVC store in London then hopefully all these jackets are genuine Levis, though probably not the same sizing or quality as earlier jackets judging from people that have handled both. I was at the LVC store in London last November and they were sold out of the jackets at the time.

They seem to have this jacket style every year with subtle differences in sizing and colour. I'm sure you're jacket is genuine.Due to the distressing no two are exactly the same anyway.

Hey guys, new poster here! :)

I've been searching for this jacket for the past week or so and I'm slowly going insane. No one seems to have it. I've contacted Mr Porter and they told me to tell them the size I want and they'll put me on a waiting list. I've had a few emails back and fourth between Peggsandson and I, and I've been told to wait for a little while for more stock to come in, specifically in the size I want, which is a small. Peggsandson did say, however, that the jacket was to be in stock this week just gone as their website indicates but I haven't heard a peep from them email-wise, and their site still has no sign of having it back in stock.

So yeah, I'm kinda desperate right now to get this. I've even called the LVC store in Carnaby street in London, and they sounded like they hadn't had it in stock for a while. They recommend I call in a month or two. Which sounds pretty pointless.

I'm out of ideas, is there anyone who can help me out or is this really as rare as it gets? :(

    Thanks

Edit: Is this the colour Bond wears in the movie or is it more Brown?

I purchased a Wested replica of the Enjoying Death jacket that should hopefully be delivered sometime next week. I've seen a few pictures doing the rounds, but does anyone have any experience with this jacket, its quality and its likeness to the original?

Funny you mention this ...........I was in Swanley yesterday , and stopped into see them . I have the original Levi's jacket , and wanted to do a comparison . Its MUCH thicker and heavier than the real thing, and will probably last a lot longer too if Im being honest . The details all seem fairly close , although it runs slightly on the large side . Not distressed leather at all , but the colour is nice . I've considered getting one as a more ''heavy-duty'' alternative to my Levis one . The lady that works there , Gemma , is really helpful , and easy to work with ..............as well as being quite easy on the eyes too :D

I bought the Wested version and love it. Others have weathered theirs and I am plucking up the courage to do the same. But have to say leather is great and fits like a glove. Colour is a good match to original as well

    Enjoy!
