Donk, did you see an Octopussy egg?

Yes, the Royal State Coach Faberge Egg is on your immediate right as you leave Q-Branch and enter the Casino section.

Just spoke to the Barbican Box Office and they have confirmed no photography. Having read the review this was the make/break factor for me so probably won't bother, missed out on the Bondstars Xmas party as well so all I can look forwrad to are the Blu-Ray set and the Skyfall ..... all I can say is that this movie better kick ass :(

Just out of interest, GM, why is the issue of photos so important? I'm sure some will pop up online.

Mind you, no book to accompany the exhibition that I know of...

There is an exhibition catalogue @ £30 but this was not available at the Media View.

Not interested in the clothes, mild interest in the vehcles but really wanted some cose ups of the props on display, if that is not to be the so be it. The catalogue sounds interesting though, wonder if it will be available online.

    Cheers for the write ups and info donk -{

I'm with Andy on this, clothes have never been my thing (ie TF suits and mentally priced cuff links, not clothes in general, I'm not a total perv) and props is obviously my interest, so the no photo rule is totally annoying. However, does this 'no pics' rule include sketching??

Also, any advice on a good quiet time to go? End of the day mid week perhaps before the brats break up from school?

At the moment its a very good idea to book ahead. When for example the 2pm slot is full the doors are closed until the next timed group are admitted so in theory you should not get swamped as you would in a free for all. As for content its a good mixed bag & if you view the link I have just put up you will see just how good the presentation is:

£30 for a catalogue seems a bit steep. I assume it is hardback for that price. I'm holding off going until the 13th, when my other passion (The Rolling Stones) celebrate their 50th with an exhibition at Somerset House. Should be a good day!
  • Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,468MI6 Agent
I had a look passing today, no it's not hardback, and the pages aren't glossy either. All the same, it has a stylish, rough-hewn kind of look and it's got loads of colour pics. That said, not quite as impressive as Donk's link a few posts previously, which is so good you almost don't need to see the exhibition frankly, it should almost have a spoilers link attached!

Oh, around 11.30am a big queue of around 100 patiently and morosely waiting to go in for their booked phase of the event, so maybe hold off for when it's less busy.

So what was there from OHMSS? I see what is possibly the blue ski suit in one of the pics, but it looks incredibly faded.
  • Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,468MI6 Agent
They do say they used a blue suit because of photography at the time, or special effects or something, meant they had to use that... They have Tracey's dress from the casino, otherwise not much but come to think of it, not much hardwear in that film. No bobsled however, they could have had that. Maybe Lazenby's suit is there, not sure.

They used that colour blue because it was the same colour as the blue screen, meaning that it prevented the production from cheating and making sure all shots were authentic.

Here's one I was hoping someone would get a good shot of because it's simply stunning in the flesh. EON had 3 of these in different sizes archived. One is at Beaulieu, this is the larger miniature constructed of fibreglass & aluminium & there was a middle size one which got lost apparently!
Other exhibits yet to be snapped at the exhibition are a pair of SFX Seamasters from TND & TWINE, TND stun prod Ericsson JB988 Gadget Phone & some amazing props from Moonraker to name but a few.

Think my high ticket charge had something to do with the price of coal these days.

And markus, I'll be wearing my steelies, so I hope for your sake you'll be wearing a box :))
