back after a wonderful weekend in London.
Thanks for the kind words - now that Pete changed sides and teamed up with my wife :v I need every friend that I can get - so I'll not be picky
Thanks for coming over Donk. I know, that Pete and me have been embarassing you more than once by not behaving along the exhibition rules.
Singe: I can now officially confirm, that you are taller than a cat
Not familiar with british traditions, I don't know exactly what it means, when someone brings a tombstone for the first date *
Glad that you enjoyed the time, but you have missed the best part: Pete getting overloaded by the chinese food.
And btw. these 9 black watches, that we've seen at the watch store: They are only sold as a set and are running for 5.4 million pounds. Sterling! Maybe you should make watches
Regarding the exhibition:
Besides of the overload of clothing there are many nice set sketches by Sir Ken Adam and others and the quantity of non-costume props is still stunning.
The broad variety of props that MR gives us is still amazing and I know, that MG also enjoyed them :v
* It's done marvelous, very well done, mate and thanks again!
How did anyone manage to pull off getting all those pics when no pics were allowed? I managed to sneak in 3 on my phone just to pee them off. I loved the exhobition, best display of props ever seen, really annoyed when told no pics were allowed because its Eons policy. I went on Thurs 19th so i misssed you guys by a whisker.
Aceshowbiz.com photo gallery for Designing 007 Exhibition. Not quite on a par with the stunning Core77 photo gallery however there are a couple of unique shots here.
Just 2 more days left in London for those still sitting on the fence whether to attend or not then it's off to Canada for the start of a planned 3 year world tour.

The schedule is yet to be published however from the horses mouth the exhibition will take in The United States and Asia. When a detailed tour schedule is finalised I will post it on AJB.

you on commission donk?
Yes, I'll be getting a free Aston Martin DB5 tea towel with the spinners on the front wheels...Nice! )
must admit, i was umming n arring about whether to go.
if you're on the fence and can make it, go to it. its not the best exhibition by far, BUT it won't be back for 3 years, and there are some pretty cool pieces in there which i hadn't seen on show before.
just don't take any germans with you. security guys get jumpy around germans..... i can't imagine why
Just got back, I have one pressing question regarding the LTK Dunhill Unique lighter exhibited in the Bond personal effects display. According to legend, the lighter was part of a 'unique' run or order and was smooth front and back, not lined or engine turned as the commercially available models are. If we are to believe the archive ( and there were many mistakes in the captions at the exhibit) then the lighter shown was the screen seen one. This lighter has the engraving on a flat silver plate either glued or soldered on to a lined Dunhill Unique. IF this is the original then it makes replication 1000% easier, personally I think this is just a mocked up one for the exhibition. Does anyone of our learned clan have any input on this, would love to hear it.
On a side note, as it was a Bond exhibition and I hate the idea of not being allowed to take photos, I took my digital pen camera and managed loads of photos in every hall without any suspicion being aroused. If they're any good I'll put them up on here. Ya boo sucks to Barbican and EON, I'd love to know whose behind that stupid rule in truth and the real reason for it, my guess is that it's the Barbican in some inane attempt to keep the feet moving through.
BTW I did enjoy it and now know where all the real Casino Royale plaques are, with the odd exception of some members here.

Can't help you on the lighter question but I'm sure there will be an expert here on AJB who can. Congrats on your spy shots. Hope they come out. No it wasn't the Barbican who came up with the no photography policy, they were just the poor buggers who tried to enforce it. I made the mistake of requesting permission to take photos in advance & was told special permission would have to be made with the Bond production company & regrettably it was unlikely that permission would be granted. Thank all that is or is not Holy for the Core77 photo coverage which were simply stunning. Amazingly of all the exhibits no one appears to have been able to take any photos of Jinx's costume along with a number of other costumes within the Villains exhibition space.

I know exactly what you mean mate.
The LTK dunhill unique, so I thought, was a one off that never got picked up. The unique is of course normally either a barley cross hatch pattern or the striped lines. The LTK light is different as the 'shoulder' sections are smooth, but the flat sides are still straight lines BUT a panel has been layed on top, giving a flat surface to engrave on.
So I think the one on show is the 'special order never picked up' one, but it was never totally smooth all over.
Just had a look at the LTK Wedding scene, the Dunhill on show at the Barbican is definitely NOT the one on display, the hero on screen prop is certainly not a badly fitting over plate.

Blimey!
Bit odd though, cos the one on show at the barb had smooth shoulders if I remember rightly, making it still a bit unusual.
Yeah, well worth a look if it comes to a city near you.Thoroughly enjoyed that!Highlights being the original attache case,a little worn but priceless and awe-inspiring with the film playing the clip next to it,the Lotus models,Rosa Klebbs shoe and the Action Man Moonraker dolls. All the artwork too.Shame the 007 bar was shut was looking forward to a properly mixed Vodka Martini.
Hope that if they do the show in Asia (Hong Kong please...)
- they allow pics
- the Octopussy egg will get a better place
-{ Donk has already informed the Hong Kong Inspectorate not to let you get anywhere near that bloody egg. I've warned them that a strange European guy intends to get his eggs out near one of the exhibits....ewwwwwww!
If anyone did get any photos and doesn't feel they can post, please pm me as i couldn't get to go in the end and there are a couple of props that would be useful to know more about.
Cheers in advance....
