Which 007 ally is your favorite?

Felix Leiter? Draco? Sir Gottfrey Tibbett?

Personally, I like Kerim Bay. He sacrificed himself to protect Bond many times, and he also extended his friendship to 007. Would've loved to see him with Connery again, if it wasn't for Red Grant... 8-)

I enjoyed Patrick Macnee in AVTAK, yes, some real good rapport with Moore and of course, we've seen him in The Avengers too so nice in-joke. I liked, if that's the right word, his demise in the car wash, see, a touch of spooky imagination the film doesn't get credit for, it's real creepy seeing the shadowy figure creep up from behind.

'Sacrificial lamb' as critic John Brosnan dubbed them, the good guys who die are an obligatory nod to reality.

But of course, not all allies snuff it.

    Jack Lord as Leiter in Dr No is another good one, he complements Bond as in fits with him, cos Connery is a bit dour in that, and he has that transatlantic cool. -{

I really like Quarrel, especially in the novels. He is a great ally who trains Bond for his missions.

I think the relationship with Leiter is also better in the novels. I have never seen the friendship they are supposed to have in the movies. I would love to see Craig and Wright discuss the merits of British cars over American cars like they did in DAF (I believe). Although I love CR (the film) I think the scenes between Leiter and Bond lack something. In the novel they really build up a friendship over the course of the mission.

But since this is in the "James Bond Films" section I will have to go with Kerim Bay ("I've had a particularly fascinating life. Would you like to hear about it?" "Grmphfh" "You would!? :D")

Kerim Bey for me. Also like Quarel in the novels. Bonds remorse when he realises that Quarrel's faith in Bond was greater than his fear of Crab Key and that's what got him killed is fantastic, and great evidence and example that despite what Fleming may have said/believed Bond is more than a Blunt instrument.Similarly with the death of Kerim Bey he overcomes his own sense of loss and snaps the son out of despair with what could be misconstrued as rude haste but is not. Great subtlety from Connerry.

I know I'm just joining the parade, but I have to go with Kerim Bay as well. And I really enjoyed the very charming Marc Ange Draco in OHMSS. The effortless confidence he projected was quite memorable (he didn't even flinch when Bond threw the knife!), and he really came through for Bond when it was time to take it to Blofeld's lair.

I'm also on the Kerim Bey bandwagon, but, hey, he had it all--charm, toughness, his own story, some romance, and even humor. I love the moment where he says to the tied-up villain that he's had an interesting life. "Would you like to hear it? [Bound-up villain grunts.] You would?" Classic! I also think Topol's Colombo is a fine ally, though clearly he's built on the Kerim Bey model.

I'm sorry They killed Off Mathis, Thought He and Bond had a good chemistry. Could of had
some fun in movies to come.
Kerim Bey would also be near the top of my list along with a soft spot for Valentin Zukovsky.

I have always hoped that Zukovsky could at some point return (we see him get shot, not necessarily killed)

Kermit Bey too. Character is so well developed and Pedro Almodovar plays the role to perfection.

On the subject of Zukovsky, I remember reading that they did film Bond checking for a pulse
and smiling ( Showing he was still alive ) although it never made it to the movie, and given
the reboot. It's a mute point now :))

Surely in what I'm pleased to call the ' post-rebootiverse anything is possible? I was hoping that this Bond could be the same one as in TWINE, or even GF for that matter. The films have often Monkeyed around with the timeline. i suppose it depends upon if the reboot was a restart with a new timeline and if that means the films are now sequential. Of course QOS has to have taken place immediately after CR, but apart from that Skyfall and beyond could do what they want.

Perhaps I'll start a new thread...

    Zukovsky for Brosnan

    Mathis for Craig

    Leiter (Jack Lord) for Connery

    Tibbitt for Moore

Whilst agreeing with all the foregoing choices, I rather like "Tiger" Tanaka from You Only Live Twice — glib, sexist and generally good fun.

I think Tanaka and Draco were good Alleys Testro Tamba i thought was a smooth choice for Bond's ally in the far east and both he and Draco did come to bond's aid in both films

Milos Columbo for me. He was a great character, very smooth and a killer mustache :))
