What is your favourite Bond car?

chrisisallchrisisall Western Mass, USAPosts: 9,062MI6 Agent
My very first theatrically viewed Bond film featured a 1971 Mustang Mach 1, to this day it's my favourite Bond car ("Lean over."). :))
After that is the DB 5 & the Lotus-sub.

Yours?
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

Aston Martin DBS, from either Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace (although unscathed please).

I do also have a secret admiration for the Lada Niva 4x4 as seen in the hands of Russian bad guys in some of Pierce's outings. . . much more in my price bracket right now, although lacking in the street cred and reliability of the big Aston I fear.

I love Astons, of course and to be honest love all that have appeared. But the Toyota 2000GT from YOLT is gorgeous and one of my favourite all time cars. Especially the hard top.

The Bentley 4½ Litre Blower, of course. The one that Fleming's Bond drove in the novels.

They should put Bond back in a Bentley.

Though I love the Aston DB5, and unlike thesecretagent I don't see myself as particularly short :D , you need to be a six footer to drive it imo, it's a big car, not some zippy little thing. It looks to me like an estate car, but you don't always get that impression on film, except perhaps at the garage in GF, when you see it reversed away and Tilly M is left standing with her case.

So I suppose the Lotus for me, but I wouldn't kick Bond's FRWL Bentley out of my garage for having a leaky exhaust pipe.

I am ashamed to say that I named the wrong car as my favourite Bond car. IMHO the Citroën 2CV (FYEO) is BY FAR the coolest Bond car ever! It also features in one of the better car chases in the series, although some part are played for laughs (it is a Roger Moore movie after all) most of the action is pretty serious. I might be biased of course because when I was young my parents had several 2CV over the years.

    Other cars I like:
    -As said before, the Lotus
-Some of the villains cars of the early movies like Lippe's car and that of Viona Volpe in Thunderball.
-Can't leave out the DB5 of course.

-Worst Bond "car" in my opinion: The Moonbuggy from DAF!

No the worst bond vehicle was blofeld's bathosub. What the hell was it meant to be anyways?

Anyhow, back on cars, for me, as previously stated, the DAD vanquish.

The worst bond car? The 'shoehorn that bastard in there or ford will sue us' 2 seconds on screen time and way too much publicity gut churning coloured piece of 'retro' cacky guff, jinx's DAD ford thunderbird. Useless.

I've got to say, I don't think the Astons you mentioned are very big. True, the DB5 looks big, but largely because its actually quite high and very narrow by todays standards ( about the same as a Ford fiesta), the modern DB range are not much bigger than the new Porsche 911's. Inside, the seats rack up close to the wheel and pedals for both shorties like yourself and girls too. :v The new Rapide is a lot larger, but that's four door. And quite horrible up close.

But I do think the new lotus' are more Craig.

Do not buy a DB7 for this sort of money. I had a low mileage six cylinder one that set me back 30k about five years ago. It cost me another 10k on annoying faults. It was a good car to drive, but always going wrong. Maybe the later Vantage models were better, I don't know. It also creaked a lot. I felt with every journey it was literally wearing out! I know they upped their game with the DB9, and I'm tempted to trade in next year, but I don't think I could take the unreliability and huge cost of repairs again.

Hey, if you can fit in, it can take the weight.

Actually, using the the DB7 every day was kind of like putting a bone china tea set in the dishwasher. Sooner or later it's going to break. I put 40k miles on a Porsche 911 (993) taking it over 80k miles, and it was as tight and perfect when I sold it as when I bought it. I only changed the oil once and it sailed through two MOT's!

I use my BMW M5 every day, have owned it a year and have only changed the oil once (although it needs topping up a lot - its a 5 litre V10 after all) and I've done 11k miles in a year. Once again, it's just gone through its MOT and didn't need anything. Some performance cars (and let's face it the M5 is as quick or even quicker than a Vantage, DB9 or DBS) can be used every day, and some can't.
