I love these videoblogs, because they don't give too much away and also, they give you a good look on the each subject. I think, that this is the best one next to the "Costume Designer" and "Production Designer" videoblog.
I saw this video last week, I wondered what Sam Mendez was talking about when saying the last part of the movie "deliberatly, very consciously could have taken place in 1962." If you take that to literally you would almost be scarred that the newest gadget of the car is a 'Flux capacitor' that allows time travel! :P - Bond I'm pretty sure EON is smart enough not to go there! )

Yeah, it was an interesting thing to say. I'm guessing it's just a way to pay homage to the older films. But if it is to be taken more literally, then maybe it's meant that Skyfall actually takes place just before Dr. No and is basically meant to lead into the original Bond. I highly doubt that, but the only thing that sort of makes me think that is that Mendes specifically said 1962 and not something just like the 60's (or any other general time). Obviously the movie doesn't actually take place in 1962, but since Bond takes place in a sort of shifting timeline it would still work.

Uh oh... here goes the 'continuity' issue again if these hunches are right...

just told my unborn nipper about this...
There is no reason to take what Mendes said literally, I made that comment just to explore a "what if" scenario, with the acknowledgement that it has a 0.000001% chance of actually happening.
mendes just meant that skyfall was so classically bond it could have been made back in 62, not the film is set in 62, or any of the other mental 'restart the series' ideas.

forget the continuity ideas, please
oh and you percentage is 0.000001% too high
Agree 100%. I think what Mendes said is a real good thing, especially if you are a fan of the more "classic cinematic Bond".
It looks like the last part of the film will be more like the last part of FRWL. Bond, outgunned and outmanned, using his cunning, wits and brass along with anything he can get his hands on (antique guns, his classic antique car, etc) to defeat a purely evil villain.

Always nice to see the DB5. Interesting comment from Sam Mendes regarding the last part of Skyfall.

Didn't notice it on screen, but it was certainly there on the car at the barbican. Don't get too excited though, it's just lining tape )
