Last year I asked the question, what was your first Bond film? Then i asked you the question what Bond film got you into liking James Bond, that topic is still alive. Then there's the question was Bond film was the first to appear on your shelf? What one did you buy the dvd/video/blue ray first? Was it a luck of the draw as in you grabbed one you hadnt scene or did u buy it coz u liked itin the first place?

Mine was FYEO, at random my father was there and he said 'buy a moore' and picked up OP and FYEO funnily enough I hadnt seen OP till much later but loved it....

Well, it's the first time I've seen this one asked. . .or I'm now so senile I've forgotten the last time it was. Anyway, the first Bond film I bought was back in the '80s--a VHS tape of Goldfinger, back when the prices of tapes had been cut down to a low, low $40. There were only about four Bond films out at this low cost, and it was the best of the lot. Ah, memories. . .

Good lord, if I wish I could remember the first Bond movie I owned. I know I had a few VHS tapes, so it had to be Goldfinger of View To A Kill or even Live and Let Die. I just can't remember which I bought first. Doesn't matter now because I own the Ultimate Edition DVDs up to Die Another Day. Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and the soon the be purchased Skyfall are all regular DVDs.

Like HB (and a few others on here) I'm old enough to remember the days BEFORE VHS/Betamax :#

I remember when we got our first VHS recorder and I'd tape all the Bond films when tv showed them - I still have a few of thoses tapes around somewhere....
As HB alluded too...VHS tapes of films were VERY expensive to buy when they first came out...so I remember waiting until the local video shop sold off their old stock....I remember buying FYEO and GF first....the next one I bought from the video shop was actually LTK - I knew the guy that owned the shop and he sold it me cheap (before he should have done) and he gave me several LTK video-posters too....again, I still have those...

Kids today don't realise just how lucky they are that they can buy their films pretty cheaply (and quickly) after the films initial release !

I now have several different versions of the Bond VHS releases (including some Japanese ones)....

Another oldie here. I bought myself a Betamax recorder in 1981. Like Sir Miles I taped the Bond films when tv showed them - but none of those tapes are around now as I had a clear out some years ago.

Alas, I cannot remember the first one I bought. It has to be one of From Russia With Love, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever or The Spy Who Loved Me as they are the only one's I own on VHS.

I suppose I taped them first, it was a revelation when we (belatedly) got a colour TV and could watch them in colour.... ;%

Didn't immediately occur to me that later films were in widescreen and had the ends lopped off. One reason why the early Connery films might have come off better.

First one bought? Prob Goldfinger, but when the widescreens came out on VHS I went through all those, was double dipped by the 'widescreen' GF, such as it was, and then the digital remasters. I was a sucker for all that, though the remasters weren't always that sharp, so I had to take them back, arousing the HMV owner's suspicion.

My first purchase of a Bond movie was the first movie I'd seen theatrically- DAF. VHS, if memory serves.

I had my first tape recorder when I was around ten years old. I'd say it was just over half the size of the one pictured above. The cassettes were either sixty or ninety minutes long which meant they were not really suitable for recording films but they were for TV programmes like The Persuaders, which was (and remains) a big favourite of mine. When it came to recording I would get the microphone with it's lead and then connect to the recorder. I would then place them on a chair close to the speaker of the TV, but not too close otherwise there was a loud buzzing noise. I would tell everyone to be quiet while the programme was on and would then stop the recording for the adverts and would start again when they were finished.

I still have those recordings and cherish them, even with my father coughing and my brother laughing in the background on occasion. Kids today have got no idea how lucky they are. :))

On the other hand, each time a Bond movie was on TV or re-released for a week at a theatre, it was an event!
    True story: When I was 16 DAF was going to be on ABC while my Dad & I were on vacation in Las Vegas. Our motel room was a cheapie one with only B&W TV, so I took my allowance & rented MY OWN room across the street at a nicer motel that had colour TV's just to see it! My Dad thought I was nuts, but I ended up happy! -{

That one by chrisall about renting a room to watch DAF in colour is priceless!

I was at RAF camp when, would you believe it, they chose that weekend of all in the year to show DAF, when I doubt I'd even seen it in five years, I only remember it being shown on telly in 1978, and this was 1983! :o

I wanted to head off to the TV room in the mess, but a c*** of a bloke in charge with a black country accent (I think) said we had to stay in the billet block until further notice.

This I did. But wandering around, I heard the murmerings of a familiar voice from the telly. The airmen upstairs were clustered around a small colour TV, watching DAF as they polished their shoes in that meticulous way, in small circular movements with a white hanky.

I asked if I could join them, explaining my predicament, and they readily agreed. It was up to the scene where Bond was escorting his 'brother' in a hearse. One of the RAF men recalled Bond's classic rejoinder before Bond said it... 'small world'.

Later, smug C*** thought he had me when I said I was in the billet block. "You were NOT in the billet block."

    Pause.

    "So. Where were you then..."

"I was with the airmen watching the movie.... in the billet block."
"This is where we leave you Mr Bond."

I started taping the 007 movies in cinemas back in the 80s.
I remember how annoyed I was about silly comments from my neighbors as I knew, that I'll hear this over and over again.
To turn over the 45 minute tapes, I set my digital LCD countdown to 44 minutes to find a pause when something not so important happened.
I also remner revisiting some Bonds because the cuts have not been clear enough.

I purchased my first VCR for the hefty sum of DM 1000, you coild get a brand new Rolex for 2000 in these days when the first Bond movies came out in Video.

We had 3 competing video formates here and I went with Video 2000.
As the 007 movies where only abailable for rent and on VHS, I rented them and taped them from the VHS recorder from a friend
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

The first 007 film I saw in theaters was Goldeneye. Loved everything about it. After that, I was hooked. I remember watching "15 Days of 007" on TBS back in the 90's. That's where I saw most of the films. I couldn't get enough. For a birthday one year, I received Part One of the VHS box set. Best gift ever. Wore out the tape of From Russia With Love. Now, I have all the Bond films on DVD in the 4 Part Box Sets. Thank you, Goldeneye.

Dad took me to see LIVE & LET DIE at the Odeon cinema, Birmingham in 1973. I'd be just short of my 5th birthday. I was transfixed by the poster (still am). From that point on I was hooked. Curiously I never actually considered Moore's & Connery's films to be made by the same people. Moore was the Bond of cinema, Connery of telly. Happy days.

"Goldeneye" was the one that got me into Bond hardcore, too. When Brosnan was announced as Bond, I thought he was the perfect choice. He is still my favorite Bond. I wish he had been able to start with TLD.

The first Bond film I ever saw was The Man With The Golden Gun. It was shown on TV at the time.

The first copy of a Bond film I owned was Thunderball, way back when it was released on VHS (yeah, I'm old).

The first Bond film I saw in the cinema was GoldenEye. I didn't like it at the time, and to an extent I still don't because of its radical departure from the early classic Bonds.

Dalton was one of the best Bonds, ever. I wish Dalton had done more films. His portrayal of the character was closer to the original Fleming vision of Bond than any other actor.

I would have to agree that Dalton played a very good Bond but I must admit that Brosnan looks the part, escpecially in GE. I love that pic of Brosnan with a gun, wearing a tux with fire behind him.
