I don't know if he is the only only one to blame (Pervis, Wade GRRRRR) for DAD, but IMHO that was an awful movie.
Yeah he proberbly isn't, but he had a lot of influence in it... In the making of DAD, you see him mentioning that he likes fancy editing a lot. (Hence the super fast to slow-motion shots in the movie.) He also mentions that Bond just has to go with his time and keep up with modern-day movies, like the matrix. And also that in his opinion CGI should take over the new generation of Bond movies.... They really felt the need to compete with other action movies at the time. In my opinion this man should just be kept away from EON as far as possible ) - He looks like a villian who could have played Eliot Carver though!
I have seen the special features of the 2 disc DAD DVD a long time ago but Lee did put a lot of "style" in DAD. So you are right, he is responsible for the "look" of the movie.
I'vementioned the Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt (aged 60 , height 6'2'') before, but I think he'd make a very good Bond villain. In a new movie he plas the UN Gerneral Secretary Dag Hammarskjold who died of a gun shot to the head during a plane crash in the Congo ....
Surely I can't be the only one who sees a Bond villain in these photos?
Willem Dafoe, but sadly he's aged out. I always wanted Luke Evans as James Bond, so I feel like if Bond ever goes up against a rival spy type villain, Evans would be perfect as the main baddie
John Saxon, George Peppard, Bruce Payne, James Woods, Gary Busy, Bruce Dern, Dennis Franz, Anthony James, Ron Pearlman, Vincent Baggetta, Roddy Piper, Marta DuBois, Vernon Wells, Sergio Calderon, Steve Sandor, Wings Hauser, Joseph Sirola,
Plenty more.

James Bond- Licence To Kill
German Sandra Hüller (46) was nominated for the Best Actress in a leading role Oscar for "Anatomy of a fall" (Anatomie d'une chute). The spiritual heir of Irma Bunt and Rosa Klebb?
She was also in THE ZONE OF INTEREST and TONI ERDMAN. She's currently filming PROJECT HAIL MARY with Ryan Gosling. Her star is absolutely on the ascent so...yeah, she'd be great.
That's what the Bond movies should do (and often have done): cast the best actors from foreign markets. Even actors who often play leads in their home country will do bit parts in Bond movies. Much better than hiring American TV actors.
I know this is "a bit" late, but i just realized who should've been Blofeld in SPECTRE and NTTD:
Stephen Fry!
When Christoph Waltz was cast in SPECTRE it was obvious to most that he was going to play Blofeld because he's best known for playing villains and the movie was called SPECTRE. Not so with Fry. He has played villains in occasion, but most don't think of him in those sort of roles. But he's charming, very smart in real life and I believe he can play threatening if he wants to. If you want to typecast and be up-front about who's playing Blofeld - cast Waltz. But if you want to cast against type and leave the audience guessing - they should've cast Stephen Fry! What do you think?
I'd like to see Fry in a bond-movie, whatever role he plays. I'd pay my $15- for bond26 if he was only seen for two seconds as the drunk doublechecking his bottle of wine as the zany chase scene rolls by.
are there any examples of him playing a villain? I know he's played pompous bullying authority types, he was usually an antagonist to Rowan Atkinson on Black Adder, and a running gag in A Bit of Fry and Laurie was him humiliating Hugh Laurie with a witty putdown and Laurie doing a pathetic sadface to the camera. his characters are wellspoken charmers and nobody else can get the last word when he's around.
now you mention it, I would like to see Fry telling Grumpy CraigBond "I am the author of all your pain", he'd definitely drive Craigbond into violent fits of frustration! imagine Craig seething while Fry purrs his witticisms because he cant think of a good comeback!
Well Fry is very English and Blofeld is meant to be foreign really, even though none of the actors in the 60s era were - English, American, English. The character has never been nailed by the series, though it does touch on the idea that Fleming's Blofeld was a shapeshifter, so casting different actors went with that.

Roger Moore 1927-2017
Fry knows a numberof languages and I'm sure he can use some vaguely european accent as Blofeld.
