How does this relate to 007 / Bond then??!! ?:) Or am I missing something??
  • S JrS Jr Posts: 13MI6 Agent
in the bond movie Dr.No 1962, there are some chairs made by this designer
and the Steel-Line items are like in Casino Royale 2006

Ens007 are right, how is this 007 related? Sounds more like a ad for furniture, and why show the Star Trek chair on a 007 forum?
  • S JrS Jr Posts: 13MI6 Agent
It is not and ad, as you can't buy anything on this site - you can only look
and sorry about the Star Trek clip, shall add the one with the 007 and the chairs when I can

'hi there, i've joined this forum as i'm a fan of bond and though you guys might like seeing some furniture from a guy who designed some pieces that were used in Dr No'

S Jr, sorry if this sounds like a rude welcome, but it does indeed look like you are here to advertise. If anything, your email name looks like you are very intimately connected with the company products you are promoting. Since you are actually a person who is responding to posts and not one of those computer-generated "Spambots" I will give you the benefit of the doubt and let you stay. . .but, please, if all you are trying to do is increase traffic on your family website, I will suggest you find another site.

    Dear Hardyboy,
Sorry I did not mean to offend anyone, I by coincidence ended on your site when I was searching connections between movies and furniture and got all excited that I was not the only one looking beyond just watching the movies.
I guess everyone has there own reasons for liking different movies and their setting. I was trying to link my findings, to benefit others, if you don't want me here, I respect that. Have a nice day.

Sorry S Jr but that's rubbish.

The matter is not that we don't want you here - we don't want spammers here.
Even I with my crappy language did understand that from Hardyboys post.

Welcome to AJB by the way ;)

    Thanks Bondtoys, -and noted
-to continue on positive Bond vibes and furniture...
The most known scene where Bond is surrounded by nice furniture is probable the one from the movie Diamonds are Forever from the Elrod House, designed by John Lautner in Palm Spring California, when he meets Bambi and Thumber.
Steve Rose wrote a nice article about that:

I particularly enjoy YOLT because of all that crazy architecture!
The crater set is unique in the entire movie history, Osatos buildig is futuristic even by todays standards and the office is incredibly well designed so is Henderson's home.

It is not only the 007 cars which are expensive
    The icon chair in YOLT
during the scene where James Bond meets Tiger Tanaka was up for sale in 2007 for 15.000 pounds.

I rather like the office chair tanner sits on in QoS, not sure of the make but one of the dealers in channel 4's 'four rooms' has one.

well.... yes unfortunately nice furniture designed, tested and produced in Europe is expensive. But they last longer!
there was a nice exhibition in Cologne in Germany which ran until April 2012 which was called "From Aalto to Zumthor Furniture by Architects" where all the 4 versions + 1 without the seat pads, of the Silver chair were exhibited,
    see nice photos on: http://blog.smow.com/tag/le-corbusier/
They don't have the chair(s) at the V&A museum yet, maybe they will one day...

    Dear S Jr
I would have thought your post would have been interesting to a lot of people as many people here are interested in the style of James Bond and even go to lengths to source screen seen costumes to wear etc etc. A themed house with styled furniture is a logical progression. I do love some of the furniture especially the office furniture! As a kid I was fascinated with missing buttons from the doors between Moneypenny and M's office.

As with anything there are literally hundereds of areas of interest surrounding James Bond. There used to be many more members on here talking about lots of collecting interests but over the years its just a few people now and the talk is mainly clothing or props.

MORE toys and for S Jr MORE furniture
