Only because Peter Sellers could do no wrong
its actually very ridiculous and a poor film but I like the Idea of David Niven as Bond which I believe was 2nd choice behind Cary Grant but ahead of Connery for Dr No, but would have ruined the series and there probably would have only been 1 film and we would not be on this forum and would have missed a lot of enjoyment over the years.
I rate both Dalton films very, very highly indeed. They don't make my top 5, but they are 6 and 7 on my list, ahead of both Casino Royale and Skyfall. While neither of the Dalton films are perfect, Dalton's portrayal of Bond is the closest to the original Fleming vision of the character. That alone makes me want to keep watching the films over and over again.
Be careful using that language around here, Paul. People at AJB almost bow down to the God we call Timothy Dalton (me included)..Though I adore Roger Moore to,pieces and he is my fav Bond with my fav film FYEO and Craig is awesome, Dalton is the man and is the closest to Flemings masterpiece of a character.

I appologise if I offended anyone, Timothy Dalton is probably the best Actor out of the six, and I have no problem with him as Bond, I think he was let down with the production of the films he was in, the quality of the picture is poor compared to other films.
I think if he was Bond in Live and Let Die he would have been better than moore and more convincing in seducing Solitaire, as I always felt Moore was a bit cringeworthy in his seduction of of the girls. Dalton was Excellent as Prince Rupert in Cromwell and I don't think we have seen enough of him on Screen in other things.
To be honest I have probably done The living Daylights and Licence to Kill a massive dis-service as I am sure we all have our favourites that we have watched many times, and those that we haven't, and as I have previously said I haven't seen Licence to Kill all the way through and I should before slagging it off and have only seen Living Daylights twice.
But in Reality all 23 films are superb entertainment, I am reserving judgement on Never say never as I haven't seen it, and Casino Royale 67 is something on it's own, all 6 Actors are good although now Daniel is in the role I have changed my opinion on Connery being the Definative bond
You have done the 80's Bond films a massive dis-service in general. Especially since you haven't even watched some of them "all the way through" yet still condemn them as a low point in the series. All hail Roger Moore. All hail Timothy Dalton. All Hail John Glen.
My current 10 favorite:
1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK
I'm surprised by people condemning the eras of certain actors. Having now seen all of the films in the franchise, there isn't a single actor that I thought did only bad, regrettable, or poorly developed entries. I think every actor has at least one film that made them worthwhile and they all seem to have helped keep the series alive because no one actor has caused the franchise to shut down.
While some of Moore's films are sickeningly campy, he has a few that are great and adventurous with less humor, ranking in the top half of the entries. Plus a couple of the most beautifully shot films (I think there is a lot of gorgeous scenery footage in The Spy Who Loved Me).
Lazenby himself wasn't particularly appealing, but he fit enough to make OHMSS one of the best productions in the series, in my opinion. I agree with some critics speculation that had it starred Connery and everything else went unchanged in the film, it would likely be frequently considered the best of them all.
Dalton, who I had never watched until recently, really made me wish he had made a couple more. His films had good production value, he was both charming and determined, and the films just had something that made them much cooler than the average 80s films.
Connery, Brosnan, and Craig seem to usually be most accepted by the mainstream, and I certainly agree that they are all excellent.
1 skyfall. I'm big DC fan I'm afraid
2 casino royale
3 licence to kill
4. Live and let die
5. You only live twice..... Just loved the commando raid at the end as a child!
I think all the actors bring something different to the role that I enjoy. Pierce Brosnan is my least favourite but I love Goldeneye..... I'm not sure if that has something to do with the supernintendo game I played for hours and hours!
I am really surprised how much people on here don't appreciate Diamonds are forever (DAF getting the hang of it now)
But it goes to show the effect of the first Bond film you see, this was mine and apart from the stupid alleyway scene in the Mustang it is one of my favourites, sure they could have had a better end for Blofeld, you have everything, the best looking women, great cars, the 2 quirky killers, great action sequences, all the Bond motiffs, great soundtrack and the Moon buggy chase,
Ok to everyone else when compared to others it may not be the best but to me it is, Just watched Tomorrow never dies (TND) and was comparing it Casino Royale (CR06) and Goldfinger 2 films at opposite ends of the cannon, and to be Honest Brosnan gives a better acting performance than Connery, but not as believable as Craig, you have everything you want in a Bond movie, the fight scenes are better choreagraphed with each film, although I have seen it before this had never occurred to me, as instead of just watching the films for entertainment I am analysing them now.
Obviously different things appeal to different people but there are other reasons that we chose a certain film over another, it could be that Diamonds are forever evokes certain memories from my childhood, I know I love the end of the PTS in Goldfinger and the opening bars of the Song and Shirley Bassey's voice and the Screeching trumpet evokes some deep emotion within, like the first time I heard Joy divisions Love will tear us apart, at the end of CR06 When Daniel says Bond James Bond, is very emotional, but why its just a film.
I would also in the next film like them to kit Daniel out with some sort of head wear, and place a coat stand in Moneypenny's office, so that he can casually throw it with a bit of spin straight on to the stand.
DAF is okay sometimes I struggle to watch it because you have to be in the right mood for it. Been watching DAD, and I'm surprised how good it is, I take back my previous comment Chrissial, Brosnan acts really well in this, GE is fantastic and this film is pretty good SO FAR (I haven't reached Iceland yet)

Funny how people can watch the same scenes and have totally different reactions. While I also thought the climbing of the Whytehouse was a pretty terrific scene, I thought the moon buggy chase was one of the worst scenes in the movie. It seemed extremely silly, and what's worse is that it was slow-moving and boring.
