The first run was only 1000 jackets worldwide

Not sure how many for this second run.

    Folks

Bugsy mentioned the Barbour Stock jacket a page earlier. If you havent seen it here it is

I had a X TO KI TO sports jacket and have since sent it back and I purchsed one of these. They are half the price, look almost identical , although the Stock is a cotton sports jacket and not wax obviously. Its like a "Summer" Lodge jacket. The fit is slim, it has the rear poacher pocket, similar colour and is very light, meaning instead of wearing a great jacket in just the winter you could wear this all year round. I am 6" 44 chest and got an XL, perfect fit.

    £185 in postage in UK

    Check it out

The XL Barbour stock jacket Stefan is approximately 46-48" in the chest. Mine is having the sleeves (working sleeves) taken up by my Tailor (not THAT perfect a fit I know) but in the body it is perfect. I did order a Large first but it was very snug, a bit too snug. I am well built, if you are of equal height but slim it may be perfect in a Large but the XL, for me was a great body fit. If you zoom in it has a very similar collar mini flap with button. Personally I think you would love it, its very similar to the Lodge jacket but for me it will get 10 times more wear.

Thanks for the reply, yes it is a very nice jacket, have been looking for something smart, for travel, and dinners in the evening. It's just that I am in between sizes, of a S and M, since I wear jackets in the 40-42 range depending on cut. Not sure what to order, must check with the local Barbour store if they have one to try on.

Did anyone get a quote from Barbour for doing alterations ??
  • jared_nomakjared_nomak Posts: 1,943MI6 Agent
I asked Barbour and they stated they did not do alterations at the factory and you would have to do these yourself :(

I had the sleeves shortened, buttons and zipper removed by my tailor. $90. I normally wear a 38-40 jacket and the medium is very snug.

WTF. I asked Barbour HQ and they told me they did. Whoever told you they don't do alterations is full of ****. Did you ask a store or talk to HQ? Don't ask a store.

$30 to have the hood zipper and buttons removed. I contacted them via the repairs / alterations section on their website.

Welcome WANZ, nice to see you on another forum!

i just had sleeves shortened, 60.00 USD. i called in US to new hampshire alterations and repairs and there wasn't anything they wouldn't have done. remove chest placket, 15.00. add buttons, remove zipper. quotes seemed more economical if you do all at one time.

PM me if anyone has specifics.

Thanks! I've been lurking here for a while. It's dangerous... not sure that I really needed another source to encourage the purchase of additional jackets and boots :)

This is what I got back from Barbour Website e-mail

I am not aware of what customisations the movie costume department made to the jacket apart from removing the detachable hood.   Any customisation you would like would have to be made by yourself.
Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards

Looking forward to getting mine all the same :)

As many posters out there have already said, if you must make the alterations to your Barbour Lodge jacket...er sports coat, you really do not need to send it to Barbour.

I had the buttons, zipper and chest flap removed for $50.00 and did it was done in 24 hours. They even used water proof thread on the zipper area. And I resealed it with the wax which I bought from the Barbour store. The wax was really easy to use, and in the Fall atleast in the DC area, Barbour does free re waxings if you want to get the whole jacket re waxed at the store. The only real problematic area was the chest flap, according to my tailor to remove. It's a great jacket, I think my fav from the lot but I have not recieved the BR peacoat as yet, so that may change, but as for now it ranks number one from the jackets of Skyfall.

Well I had placed my order for a size Large through Goodstead on Wednesday and received an email yesterday stating that they had to offer me a refund because they had sold out and that their automated system didn't update that on the website. :# So If anyone isn't entirely happy with theirs and they would like to sell it, please let me know.

I was able to try on a medium, and boy am I glad I did. If and when I decide to purchase, that's the size for me. The coat isn't "VERY SLIM", its just a fitted jacket. I am 6ft, 158lbs, with a 38" chest, and the medium fit me perfect.

Have just ordered the last XXL from Jades24.com. Its a German site and I had to pay £70 over the odds to get it, but glad I've pulled the trigger.

They only have size L left. Not sure how many they have left in stock though.
