I know not the real thing, but very close in style and fit and plus at on 65 quid, quite a bargain

Actually this one has no zip. It's one of the reasons I went for this one rather than the old navy jacket that is a quarter the price. From what I can tell it is almost the same jacket but in plain cotton vice waxed.

It was absolutely bucketing down on Saturday and quite chilly, so I grabbed the Barbour, slipped on my Islays and wrapped a scarf around my throat to stay warm. It was only while I was touring the Designing 007 exhibition and came across the mannequin wearing Marlohe's Skyfall dress that I had a sudden and horrible fear: what if there's a Skyfall mannequin of DC wearing the Lodge outfit? Thankfully there wasn't (although a part of me wished there had been!) but it would have been hilarious staring at an identically-clad display...as long as no one else around me noticed!

Managed to get this jacket and can say it was money well spent. If you can get one I would recommend to get a size up, as already has been mentioned, they are a snug fit. If you are thinking about the cost, look at some of the other designer Barbour jackets, the Steve McQueen jacket collection cost even more.

if you already have one, get out in the wet and windy weather and enjoy your jacket!

Can you shrink a Barbour jacket? I had been reading on a couple of blogs of wax cotton Barbour jackets being shrunk, so I thought I would give it a go, and so I followed all the "do not's" on the label of the jacket. I felt the sleeves were a little too long, and wanted to reduce it by 1/2 inch but did not want to send it off to Barbour, I wanted the sides to be taken just a little bit. So I wore the jacket, buttoned it up, stood in the shower, turned on high heat, and soaked the jacket for 20 minutes, interesting side note, though the outside was soaked, most of the inside lining was dry, crazy! Then I took of the jacket, pull it into a laundry bag with draw stings, and threw it into the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes. Wow, the results are amazing, the jacket fit a little more snug, and the sleeves shrank by almost 1/2 an inch. I will re wax the jacket next week, but I thought I would share my findings, especially if you want a little nip and tuck for your jacket, to get the perfect fit.

Yes, it worked really well. I am not sure if the results are typical but mine were spot on for what I wanted. I wear a M in the LVC, and the Steven McQueen collection in Barbour, so it sort of bugged me that I had to order a L in the Barbour sports jacket. Mind you I modified my jacket, I took out the storm flap, zip, hood, and extra buttons. The jacket brand new was stiff, but broken in a little, the hot shower definitely relaxed the jacket. But it now fits better. The sleeve is shorter which is what I wanted. I used high heat to dry it, the shower also gave the jacket that broken in look, which is another reason why I am holding off the re waxing. I like the character the jacket now has. Re waxing is super easy, I have done it myself a few times. Buy the can of wax from Barbour, and follow the instructions. Plus I have another un-modified version of the Lodge jacket to wear in foul weather as it was a bit of gamble on the out come.

Not the best pictures, but you guys get the idea.
On the left, you have a brand new still with tags, size L, Barbour sports coat, on the right you have a size L, with all screen accurate modifications expect one, and water and dryer treatment.
The only change I did not make is that I did not remove the button on the other side of the throat latch. I think this was a mistake of the costume department, I mean, why remove all the buttons and not remove the throat latch, instead of folding it over?. I mean you removed the rest and the zip. So I kept the button on the opposite site. Other than that its pretty accurate.

I have got to say I actually really prefer the screen accurate jacket, it just looks to busy with the hood, flaps and all the other stuff.

Actually this one has no zip. It's one of the reasons I went for this one rather than the old navy jacket that is a quarter the price. From what I can tell it is almost the same jacket but in plain cotton vice waxed.

i went for one of these as well and got it today .. very nice !
almost the same but not waxed as OP says !

question: can you wax an unwaxed barbour ?

I've been looking at websites that say you can. Haven't gotten mine yet as I am stationed overseas but I do have an old ll bean barn jacket I bought cheap to practice on first. I'll let you know how it turns out.
