Would love to see some REAL worn pics of this jacket!

Out of interest Mantis, have you bought the Levis one yet? If so what are your thoughts?

    Cheers

Yes, I have the Levis...BIG fan of it...fit and feel are great. I am a fan of vintage style clothing so this was a no-brainer for me. Will take some pics

    Who made the beard, Dave?

Where can I get one? Only thing I can get makes me look like the late, great George Harrison.

    :( :)) :D ;)

Both jackets look great! Damn, why am I only 21 and instead of working and spending money for such things I must study for some crap... :D I was born too late :( Anyway - does anybody know what kind of shotgun Bond has on the "Filming Skyfall" cover?

Is it olive, brown, olive brown? Are they all the same with just different photographers? The pics look anywhere from dark loden to chocolate brown to faded olive.

    Beautiful jacket.

Turns out there is a shop in Edinburgh that the beacon heritage range, I'll need to go in at some point and check it out. It does look so good and I imagine it would last me forever.

    Great pics Mantis.

I am able to get the VAT back 100 quid so I pulled the trigger on the Levi's in XL, if the size chart on Peggs and Son is correct it should be perfect fit!!!

The Barbour also looks great on you however I can't think of where I would wear it, I don't go out into the sticks much! :)

Only one color, Olive BUT it photographs looking brown...there are some slightly greener colors along the shoulder (different material) and arms...clearly made for hunting etc...zips in back give you unrestricted room throughout back to put pheasants, newspapers, and more ammo....or even a Q Mug when you are done with the morning coffee whilst on your morning jaunt.

JCREW folks mentioned this is a limited run (who knows what that means) and certain sizes like large may run out.

Could anybody say something about the fit of the jacket? Is ist comparable to the normal Barbour range or is it in a slimmer cut?
I´m drowning in my old Barbour quilted jacket and if i remember correctly it´s in size S.

I really like this one. The flair of a good old Barbour Jacket but with an edge. Can see me wearing it for 10 years.

Do you think it will sell out quickly? Have to sleep one or 7 nights about it :D
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
Gatsby, you may need to size up for this one....does have a slimmer frame than typical Barbour...that being said many of the places selling them have a generous return policy so you could conceivably order two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit...
  • GatsbyGatsby GermanyPosts: 44MI6 Agent
Tanks for your reply. I will consider buying one in Size M or like you advised, buy two and return one. 1,80 m and 75 kg often is a walk on the edge concerning coat sizes.

    It looks good on you.

Nice to see that i can add something to my Bond Sunspel Collection. Tom Ford is out of my price range at the moment.

    I like this forum.

How comes Jcrew are so much more expensive than the place I found it earlier today?

£633.44 at Jcrew compared to £399 at My-wardrobe

J.Crew is a US based company so wouldn't recommend buying from there if you are in the UK and can get it cheaper, check out Aspecto.co.uk they have available in size M.

To echo what DZ said you will want to size up in this one, we have M Levi's and had to get L Barbours...and we have small Y3,s go figure!

Thanks Simon, I've ordered from Aspecto in the past and they were fine.

Here's the link where you can see in more detail the different colour on the shoulder that Dave mentioned.

i dunno, quarter of a million quid motor, london town house, scottish retreat, 2k suit, 4k watch, a few hundred quid for his budgie smuglers, £200 for his sodding cufflinks, even his ties are over a ton.

this bond fella is a right ponce! :))

anyone got any decent budget versions for those of us who like the style but aren't fussed about paying £400 for a farmers coat?

Dunno, Geff, that there can be a low rent James Bond "style". Isn't the whole appeal of the character the high-end exclusiveness of top brand quality?

well don't get me wrong, sure, the aston, the nice suits etc, its quintessentially bond isn't it?

i just think that personally things dont have to cost that much in order to be nice, stylish or well made.

we'd all like bond's levi vintage to be under £150, but we all know that any manufacturer is gonna cash in on the bond connection so a sub ton price is highly unlikely for anything with a bond relation these days, which tbh, imo, is a shame.

but surely, there must be some decent, cheaper alternatives out there that more bond fans would find accessable?

if you've got the money, anyone can show it off with the suits and cufflinks etc, and if i had the coin i'd be buying more clothes etc, but i just think it would be nice for some cheaper alternatives to be suggested by you guys who know what to look out for so more of us can get involved and be included.

Fair comments, of course, though I do query how often one can get the Bond "quality" at a lower price? Sure, "you get what you pay for" doesn't always apply, and there are many cases of just paying for the name, but there is also a lot of cheap, naff look-a-like junk (where's Bondtoys on the issue of replica watches when you need him? ;) :) )

And I suspect that much of the kit debated on these pages - the Y3 jacket, LVC distressed jacket, the To Ki To Barbour, all Tom Ford's stuff, Brioni, etc - are the same price with or without Bond. Indeed I doubt some of 'em even know they were used in the Bond films....

There are those that were DO crank up their price, of course. But mostly that's Omega with their ghastly watches with 007 engraved across 'em, or Tom Ford on his cheap shades "up graded" price range bacause the y have "James Bond" written on 'em.

And hey, what's the new price of a pint of Heineken gonna be after October? :o :))

Well in my opinion so far Skyfall isn't all doom and gloom compared to what we originally thought when Tom Ford was confirmed again

Of course it isn't cheap but lets say its "slightly" better then expected

Levis Jacket 600 quid - suppose its better then Casino Royale Armani Leather Jacket which I guess was easily 1K plus

Crocket & Jones Tetbury (if confirmed) - better then anything John Lobb (price wise of course)

Orlebar Swim Trunks (if confirmed - better then the 500 dollar Tom Ford trunks that are in the shops (lets hope they don't turn out to be Tom Fords)

Barbour Jacket £380 - prob as cheap as a Bond jacket will ever get!!!!!

Im sure just like QoS there will be many High Street retailers copying the clothes from Skyfall when the film hits the cinemas and will provide many budget alternatives. Its too early at the moment except for us idiots :)

Also looks like he wears jeans in at least two scenes (Skyfall Lodge / Being a drunken bum) and also another dodgy flower shirt (unlikely to be Tom Ford) hence there will prob be more cheaper undiscovered items to find when we have more info

    i don't care, i don't drink :))

fair play dave, hopefully if members see cheaper alternatives (didn't dz do a write up some time back?) then info would of course be useful to people here.

what i'd really like is the levis vintage jacket and shirt combo from the bar scenes. i'm on the look out for the jacket, but with nipper on the way it'll more likely end up being primarni :))
