Has anyone heard from Kafka regarding their February pre-order? I placed an order on December 5th for a medium to be shipped to the US.

Mine arrived today (UK), ordered around the same time

I ordered at the end of November. Robert at Kafka nuttersaid that there was a slight delay with my medium. I suspect that it may be a coupwe getle of weeks before our jacket

I ordered same time. They seem to be only shipping to UK addresses at the moment (bit worrying)

    Hi,

Im 5'8' and 84 kg of a athletic muscly build. I bought a large from reading the reviews as I worried the medium would be to small. my build would be a broad upper body, but obviously a little on the small side I fear now that the large maybe to big! hopefully it will be ok when it arrives. I am really looking forward to receiving it. I may have a large to swap for a medium in the next couple of days if it happens to be to big!

Damn predictive text. I had meant to say my pre-order medium from Kafka has been subject to a delay. I ordered in late November. I understand from Robert at Kafka that there is a delay at Barbour's end so my jacket in medium may be a little late. If my jacket is too big, does anyone in London have a small which I could try and potentially trade? ?

    Thanks,

    James

I emailed them this morning, they got straight back to me saying they've got them ready to ship.
I then got a FedEx shipment email saying it should be with me by the 8th. I'm in the UK

Exit, when you did you order yours? I ordered mine on the 16th of November but I havent gotten a fedex update as of yet (although mine is going to the US).
I pre-ordered on Nov 14, at like 830am EST, the day they started the preorders.

Hi Ross, who did you talk to get this sorted?

    Thanks,

I just sent the email to Barbour customer services and then sent them about twenty photos of correct and incorrect ones. I'll let you know what I get back in the next couple of days

    Hey Ross

Did you have any success with this?

Good question. Screen accuracy aside, I feel like the closer spaced buttons look better. It's perplexing and disappointing that Barbour would re-release this jacket with this one part of the design changed. Do all the new coats have this altered button spacing?

I also emailed them and they said send us your jacket to look at, after I refused based on the fact I did not want my jacket bodged by cutting out new buttonholes and moving the buttons. I've sent a chaser email to see what the position, quality control is severely lacking here!

Received a Large from Aspecto on Monday with the correct buttons.

I have got a Large and an XL at the moment. The Large is SA, the XL isn't and I suspect this has to do with sizing...

I am annoyingly inbetween, the Large is a little snug, the XL a little loose (in my opinion although my wife thinks it's much better than the Large).

In terms of the buttons, the XL seems more loose (is looser a word?!) at the base of the jacket and I wonder whether the button spacing was deliberate in the XL to accommodate this.

    Latest from Kafka.

    Thanks for getting in touch.

At the moment Barbour have been shipping the jackets to us a little later than expected.

We are currently expecting a shipment in the next couple of days but I am yet to know how many jackets it will contain.

All the jackets we ordered have been guaranteed, however Barbour have not been delivering them in the expected order.

I would hope mid February is still an accurate estimation, however there may be some delays.

Mine loosened up after a while so yours may as well.

Regarding the looseness at the bottom mine is from the original batch and is quite loose there as well. I presume that's because it's needed for when the poacher's pocket is filled up, likely with a bird...

So, my jacket arrived yesterday from Kafka, ordered on 5th December. :)

As I have found this site so helpful in recent weeks (that's how I found Kafka) thought I would add my observations for anyone still trying to order :#

I originally ordered a large, but had second thoughts and emailed Kafka to change it to XL. I am 6ft 1 (185cm), 34 inch waist and 193 pounds (87.5kg), but big(gish) across the shoulders. Have been worrying about the order since then...

I am glad I ordered the size that I did - the shoulder fit is snug, but not tight, wearing a sweater and henley underneath. In an ideal world it would have been interesting to compare a large, but I am pretty sure it would feel too tight across the shoulders and I couldn't afford to order two jackets!
The XL is slightly roomy across the small of my back but my "Bondgirl" likes the look and has said it wouldn't look right if it were smaller.

I don't think my buttons are SA, but not in the least bit concerned as it is a superbly finished jacket, and life too short

    Regards

Do you mean Barbours are worn OUT of town? Never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life.

How long did your large take to 'loosen'? Not sure I can keep both :( ...

This is where I tried on the medium. They jacked the price up. Previously it was $875 there in the late summer.

I still feel the best bet for North American buyers is to try and get it from overseas. I saved a ton of money getting it from Cultzim, easily over $500 instead by buying overseas instead of domestically.

$935 Canadian! Is there a "sticker shock" emoticon?

at least it has SA buttons
  • TheExit148TheExit148 Posts: 563MI6 Agent
Don't be so sure. That's the same pic they used when it was for sale in the summer.

Is the button issue really that bad when you've got to remove the hood zip and remove buttons to make it SA anyway?????

It's really just a bad oversight in the design. I prefer the SA buttons because the bottom button is actually in the proper position for a sports jacket style, where the other two are slighty off. Not many sports jackets have the top button up that high due to the lapels.

got my tracking info from Cultizim. yeah! Almost here!
  • TheExit148TheExit148 Posts: 563MI6 Agent
Well, spoke to Fedex this morning and taxes are due... $46 CDN. What a pain! I may try and dispute since Cultizm sent as 'replacement'. We'll see how that goes. Should be delivered today, or Monday at the latest. Problem is, weather is terrible out, so I'm not at the office! Now I have to wait!
  • ReturningsonReturningson Posts: 560MI6 Agent
$46 aint too bad. How do they try to charge you? I mean, its a first for me to ever get taxed on anything coming from the UK to the US so I have no idea how it works...
  • TheExit148TheExit148 Posts: 563MI6 Agent
They charge tax on the declared amount, and then whatever their handling fee is. Don't have the paperwork in front of me, but got the dispute form in case from fedex via email and paid the amount due over the phone so it would be delivered without a problem to front desk.
