I just got an email from Barbour by David Wood. My pre order large that was suppose to be in a month ago has finally cleared customs and made it to them. It's ready to ship but I doubt it will arrive before my trip to Portland, OR on Friday night. It would have been a nice addition for the rainy climate there. Still really excited!
I am sure that you will love your jacket .
I have just received my order today. I ordered a small and a medium, because I was not sure about the right size for me. The jackets are great! The small is snug, not too tight, but the armholes are too high and a "little bit" uncomfortable. The medium is more comfortable, but also more roomy in the chest and waist, and not "very" form fitting. Now, I have the luxury problem to decide which I should keep (haha). -> Maybe both!?
Regarding the recent kerfuffle here, let me just say that, as this is a site for James Bonds enthusiasts, I always assume that we all might have various secrets and undercover operations underway at any give moment. And obviously information shared publicly here has been used by people buying jackets for re-sale, such as the time someone posted that there were three size Smalls available at Selfridges in Manchester and I rang up to get one and found that someone had just called to purchase all three (though I'm still not convinced that the buyer wasn't Sir Alex Ferguson getting jackets for his grandsons).
Anyway, information on this forum has been very helpful to me and I'm glad that I've been able to reciprocate and share information that has helped at least one person secure one of these jackets at the retail price. It often just comes down to timing; one of us posts some new information and hopefully someone else can take advantage of it while it's still relevant. So yeah, people will make money from these jackets, but I think it's still better to share information and try to help each other and hope that everyone who wants one will get one in the end.
Here is my Barbour Lodge Jacket, fresh outta the box.
Quick breakdown
My stats; 5’10, 160lbs. My jacket is size Medium
Gear: Sweater; Calvin Klein Tipped Merino Crewneck (featured in the budget alternative thread)
Cords: Levis 511 custom dyed (got the Iggys but have been so busy haven’t had a chance to get the dye treatment yet. They fit almost exactly as the 511 slims though.
Here is a compare pic, the cords are size 31s and the Iggys are size 32 but both pairs have the same leg opening measurements and same slim fit.
The reason Im mentioning this is for the people on the hunt for budget alternative lodge cords. If you want the same fit/style the levis 511s are the closest you can get.
Henley (which you cant see): an old one of mine
Scarf: custom dyed J. lindeberg silk scarf that I cut into length. Not happy on the color of this one (still too light), gonna re-dye it soon.
Boots; Stafford Camlin Wingtips
The gun is my old Ruger .22 Carbine hunting rifle. (not an Anderson Wheeler by any means lol)
These pics are not the best but my girlfriend was losing her patience so I will post more tomorrow as well as actual measurements taken off of my jacket to help peeps with sizing.
Button Placement
These buttons are SA (thank god) as they are in line with the hand pocket (not the flap cover line, the actual pocket line). Interestingly here are some measurements I took of the lengths between buttons (measured from the center of each button where it is stitched onto the jacket)
From top to Bottom
1-2 Distance: 7.5 Inches
2-3 Distance: 6 Inches
3-4 Distance: 4.5 Inches
I know, I know its anal to do this but figured I would post it. Also I paid NO IMPORT TAX which was cool. Ive never paid one before and I dont want to start up lol. Was delivered a day early by FedEx too!
Looks nice. You should do one similar to the cover of the Skyfall Behind the Scenes book.
Can't afford the To Ki to sports since I am considering the BR. Got the barbour highmoor, too bad it fits big even after shrinking. Anyways, great finds!
That's a nice fit. It's a good in-between jacket; it's not too casual or too dressed up. Enjoy -{ I haven't worn any of my coats yet. I should probably pick up the pace.

I'm sure I will. Glad you have two sizes to choose from, hopefully the large works out for me.
I just received mine yesterday, and I'm amazed by the quality and fit. Did anyone else remove the triangle neck piece on theirs? I like keeping the top unbuttoned, and it seems to flap around if I leave it on.
I hope everyone who ordered their jackets through Goodstead gets them. They today announced they have ceased trading. Another victim of the recession. Very sad.

That is crap-hope anybody who has ordered them gets them.
Hmm, doesn't look promising. Did the people who ordered their Barbours from Goodstead pay when they ordered it? If you don't get the goods, surely they will have to give the money back, no matter how dire the straits they are in?
here are some more shots of my jacket in action (have the morning off so...)
measurements of my jacket size MEDIUm taken off of the jacket laying flat
chest (armpit to armpit across): 20 Inches
Note: This is not the seam to seam but the actual pit to pit smoothed flat
Sleeve Length (from shoulder seam to cuff); 26 Inches
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam across back: 17.5 Inches
Back length (base of collar down back): 29 Inches
I just have to give a shoutout to the folks over at Cultizm. They were kind, prompt and VERY professional. They shipped my order out the day after they had recieved the shipment in themselves via FEDEX and it only took 3 business days to travel the pond and arrive at my doorstep. Maybe one of the reasons I didnt have to pay a duty is that on the customs form that unit value is just 140.00 (GBP I assume) and it clearly states that jacket is for personal usage and not for resale. Interestingly enough it also states the jacket was made in Italy and I couldnt locate the Made in Bulgaria tag.
Dammit all. After a month long delay, my order from barbour by David Wood was sent ground. I don't really remember what shipping said at the time of order, but I wish I would have thought to ask yesterday when they finally came in and I might have seen about speedier service. Ground will take forever to get to AK from the east coast. Weak

Unfortunately not, in these cases you just join a long line of customers, suppliers and lenders picking over what monies are left, if any! Fingers crossed everyone got their jackets!
I ordered mine around December 10, so yours should go out before mine (you ordered a little earlier, right?) if they're sending them in proper order.
He did say something about sending them "to Scots first, then to Ulstermen, then to the Welsh, and last to the English" -- not sure what that's all about, but it sounds discriminatory.

Well i guess i'm extra lucky then that i got my pre-order a few days ago. Is anyone still waiting on theirs?
Hooray! My November 22nd order form North RIver Outfitters is finally shipped! Promised to be here on Friday. Think I'll sit by the mailbox starting now.

I've been waiting months for this damn coat!!
The fit seems perfect to me, just over my today's standard outfit.
I'm 6ft2", the coat is a large. I'm amazed with the sleeve length.
Perfect

"We have actually received all the jackets and I am currently getting them all shipped out as soon as possible.
I will try to have yours shipped out this week."
He also said that they use UPS for shipping to the US.
Awesome!! Hope mine ships soon!!
