I stopped off at a men's shop called The Hound this afternoon and the salesman there showed me an advance internal catalog showing the Commander Jacket, described as "inspired by" the AW11 Sports jacket. Not the best photo, but hopefully good enough.
The price of these jackets , ultimately, make ownership prohibitive. They won't be everywhere because your average Joe won't be able to afford one ... and by AW13, the Skyfall fuss will be over.

Not that many of them ... I see tonnes of Barbours out and about but I've never seen another Lodge jacket pass me by.
Ive never seen anyone wearing Bond clothing if im honest regardless of price
My point was that cost is not the factor here with regards to ownership as they sell out near instantly with each batch. Limited availability is prob more the factor here as price point is not affecting them selling (they are shifting them easily)

But isn't that the OLD Commander jacket? I'm sure what they're taking pre-orders for is going to be the correct one, but the pic itself isn't right. The picture I took was from a Barbour advance trade catalog.

After spending hours ringing stockists over the last week trying to find the superb 'Skyfall' Barbour jacket I got through to a very helpful young lady at Barbour who confirmed that it would be impossible for me to get from an official stockist (you guys already knew that) but went on to say......... Barbour are releasing a new jacket called "commander" in Sept and it would look more like the Skyfall jacket than the current Beacon jacket due to the amount of changes they had to make to the Skyfall jacket for filming (her words), so I just thought I'd support what drugtest had seen and pass on the news.

Now this poses an interesting question. If the new Commander is more SA than the TKT Sport, then is that more canon? Technically only the name is changing....
i would argue no. Presumably this jacket will have a different labeled interior (wont be part of the tokito range) and the one bond bore was an original tokito release customised. Barbor didnt specially custom make jacket for the film, the production design took ones and altered them. The originals will have a better pedigree as being closely linked to the film (because thats what bond wore) I wish they wouldnt market it as what he wore on screen because technically, its a copy of an original...as for it being more SA, we might have to wait and see. Again, just what I think
Guys for the purpose of this post I'll call the young lady I spoke to at Barbour 'Miss Moneybarbour' or M for short as she's on the inside at Barbour...
M said that it would be about June before stockists were announced for the new jacket.
My first question about the new Commander is: will it be sized just like the current jacket, that is, slim and with the probable need to size up, unlike the standard Barbour line?
Also, will it be possible to add extra buttons, a zipper, and a hood to make it Un-Screen Accurate? -{
I was able to try on both a medium and a large. I'm 5'10 170 with a 40" chest and 18" shoulders. The medium was perfect for the length and sleeves, but my arms were pretty constricted. It felt very tight and my ability to cross my arms in front of my chest was constricted. Shoulders sat maybe 1/2" high but that looks to be about where they sit on DC's jacket. He wears a medium right?
The large seemed to be perfect in the shoulders and I could cross my arms and wear a sweater under it without constriction. I would need to have the sleeves taken up about 1" and the waist slimmed 2" or so because its too boxy as is. Can barbour or a tailor do those alterations? I was thinking about having the one I get sent in to be SA anyway. I think I'm leaning toward the large as it will actually be comfortable to wear vs the medium.
I've heard these stretch out though. Anyone know how much?

I have a large barbour and a medium menlo.
48 chest, 36 waist. 6'3"
