The new jacket is basically the same jacket with out a hood and the To Ki To name to it. Not a fan of the Barbour Dept (B) on the pocket flap, it's a bit too much. It also doesn't say "limited" in the image from the booklet shown a few pages back. This is jacket may be "limited" from a season stand point, but that may be it. Either way, I'm glad I have the To Ki To version, as I like the hood that comes with it.
Northshields, where did you get the pics of the jacket?

I think he may be somehow related to Barbour? Clue's in the name.
"Department B was a special area in Barbour's South Shields factory that specialized in customization. Attentive clients would order additional pockets or reinforcements: the new Dept B collection pulls focus to these specials details. Launching for AW13, Dept B is an intricately tailored line of beautiful products that mines Barbour's history with modern-authenic results."
I could be wrong here (cant be bothered checking) however I thought we were simply told the jacket was in "limited supply" however not touted as "limited edition" or "exclusive"?
If it was an ornament or collectible it would perhaps be seen as irksome. But we are talking about a piece of clothing that is going to be worn. Who is going to wrap one of these up in a box as a collectors item and not wear it? That would just be daft. You are going to wear it, it will become dirty and worn out. Then it's worth nothing anyway. When first released it had no Skyfall connection. So the Limited label wasn't ever aimed at us. The people complaining vigorously about it seem to like the fact that they have something others don't and would deny those others of ever getting one as it may ruin their elite status as an owner. Well, in any case, that isn't true as this is labelled differently and has none of the extras the original had. Get a grip, it's just a damned coat. The price makes it unavailable to most anyway, and the re-edition won't affect the originals price. There's nothing to gripe about. Limited could mean ten or ten thousand.
I second this, i dont understand the obsessiveness over this particular coat, I own one and dont really see whats so great about it, as you said "its a damn coat" having it or wearing it wont make me special or isnt going to turn me into Daniel Craig but i think some may be disillusioned by that fact.
No hood, no zips, much more fitted around the chest and shoulders. It's coming out AW13. Was informed not to buy the current Sports Jacket, as this one is due later in the year.

I think the issue is more simple than that.
When a company states "Limited Edition" and even has this written onto the product, it is saying to the customers "this is an exclusive item, that there will NOT be a re-issue or production re-run". Some people actually buy these products because of that very fact - in order to have something a little bit more special.
So if a company then decides, hold on, we can make much more money by producing more of these items as there is so much interest, it is a very bad reflection on the brand and cheapens the brand perception.
If every company did this "Limited Editions" would be worthless.
I have a new Medium To Ki To jacket to offer. The one with SA buttons and not Made in Bulgaria.
Before it comes to the price, I have explain something. I live in Germany, where the Jacket is sold for about 550€. That is 90€ more than in the UK. There is a onlineshop in France, where you have to pay 628€ retail price.
At a time, no one knew if there will be some more stock on the marked, and nobody believed in, I wrote a lot of mails to Barbour and shops around Europe. Everybody was quite unsure. After a long time, I've got on the waiting list of two shops here and I was lucky to get a jacket from each. There was no plan to sell one, but for my own safety, to really get one. One shop got 6 and one 20 pieces, so you see, how limeted they are in Germany. I think that's why it's o.k. to ask for more. Because of the effort, the time and the shipping costs I had.
So, I ask for 650€ + whatever it costs to ship it. (the average price on ebay is above 700€ at the time)

Wonder if it has the storm flap or not.
The storm flat is an irritation ... has anyone had there's removed?

In a nutshell. Stating something is limited edition and then redacting that is akin to calling food beef when it's actually horse.
With the new commander jacket its not truly sa either. From what i can see it doesnt have the piece of material running around the back of the neck where the zipper was attached. I know its picky but it makes mine truer to the screen version. Im glad they are issuing the new one as it gives people the chance to buy one and save up to get it. I was lucky enough to be able buy it then but some people need to save for a while for something like that.

Craig is wearing an adjusted ToKiTo. Period. All that comes now, is just "inspired by". The storm flap makes total sense, because the jacket is just buttoned and has no zipper (and as we saw earlier in the mirror scene, is not removed in the movie). I doubt the practical value of the commander.
Pretty happy with mine. The commander just looks cheaper and too light of a green in the patches. But that's just me insulting something that I have not seen in person to make myself feel better. {[]
Just dropped mine off at the Barbour store in NYC to get the zip and hood buttons taken off. Also asked for the throat latch one to come off ( the one on the other side, not the one the thing doubles back on ). The guy in the store seemed clueless as to why I was doing this, seemed really negative about the results, had no idea how much it was going to cost, or how long it would take ( may be 6 weeks ). I'm hoping the people at head office know what they are doing coz this guy made me fear the worst, but we'll see... Will be interesting to see what we are up to in this thread by the time it eventually comes back.
The staff at the Madison Ave shop are cool. SoHo not so much. Next time just bring it to my place. I got some old scissors lying around here somewhere. Even take that flap off for ya. Just gotta burn the edge with a lighter to keep it from raveling.

That's an interpretation of what "limited edition" could mean, but it's not necessarily true. It's certainly not a "fact." "Limited edition" could very well mean that there's simply a limited amount confirmed for the original batch. It doesn't exclude the possibility of an unconfirmed secondary batch sometime in the future. It certainly doesn't exclude an altered version of the original.
If you're one of those who buys an item because you're expecting to have a 1-run collectible, then you should do a little more diligence beforehand. Assuming things and then whining online doesn't solve anything, but it could make companies less willing to oblige you in the future.

I love this jacket just the way it is! Where did you get these pics???
Now THAT'S what I call 'Limited Edition' )
I guess you could tell us where you got it from, NothShieldsTwo, but then you'd have to shout us?
You bugger you, 5 posts? You have this jacket? You work for Barbour don't you?
come clean! Cheeky monkey. )
Sequel!
