I don't like this commander jacket.

Why make the buttons non SA and keep the throat latch and triangle thing?

I thought the point of this jacket was to issue something screen accurate!

I have finally pulled the trigger and ordered the XXL for me at Kafka.co.uk
Excellent service, free shipping to Germany and they still have some of the sizes available.
    Ask for Robert or David.

    Price is GBP 385,--

Anyone know how much shipping is to the US? I couldn't find it on their site and I'm sure there is customs too. I was curious in case I want to go with a medium. Interesting, the price in £ is the same as the Tokito but conversion to US is off. It's less, which I don't have a problem with but I wonder if those other fees make up for it.

If there are any larger gents in the US who don't mind paying USA retail, this shop in SF still has XX-L up on their site for $799:

Oh no the button placement continues to mystify even on the new bond commander! They state it's a release to look like Bonds jacket in Skyfall, and then get the button spacing wrong, I really don't get it?

can someone tell me what the spacing should be compared with this photo please?

Go one page back to the pics that NorthShields posted (post 1,655 I think)

The first pic shows the correct spacing. The space between the middle and bottom button is closer than the spacing between the top and middle button.

ok so on my To ki To jacket has even spaced buttons ..do i take it there are To ki To ones out there that were different out of the factory?

Minor thing, but if you want to be pedantic (like me), then you notice these things.

Thank you. I knew Dept B wasn't branded as To Ki To (which is either ending or on hiatus after SS13) but I was wondering if any other Dept B items were similarly "inspired" by To Ki To items. I see from the label in your photos that Dept B is under the Beacon Brand umbrella so, as you say, it should be their highest end stuff.

According to the stuarts site Tokihito Yoshida (To Ki To) is mentioned when refering to the new jacket

"Showing our 2 Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida (To Ki To) Barbour Commander Jacket MWX0007 OL71 Dept B reviews with an average rating of Excellent"

Stuart's mentions To Ki To, which will probably help them sell more of them, but the label only says "Dept B" and "Beacon Brand" as per the photos we've seen. But it's all semantics, we know the Commander is "inspired by" the original Sports Jacket. No more To Ki To in the AW13 line, however, pending further developments.

So i took my two jackets into a tailor today (the Large is quite 'snug; while the XL far too big on me). On the tailor's advice I'm going to hang onto the Large and see how it stretches, what with it being cotton and all and it looking much better on me.
Anyway, I now have the XL going spare, which I have the option to return, put on ebay or sell to a pal. That said, I know a lot of people here are dead keen to get one of these so I will listen to offers.
I'm in the UK but ordered these from a European store so have paid a lot of additional fees and taxes and Bank charges (anyone else get stung for 'swift' charges?) as well as quite a high store price.
I think in all I paid well over $600 Euros for the jacket including shipping and fees, but please make offers in Sterling.
It's brand new, all tags still attached and, from what I've been told, one of the last ToKiTo versions of the Barbour Sports jacket before the 'watered down' version is released in the Autumn.
I can email or put pictures up if anyone would like, although I know everyone here knows exactly how cool these jackets are...particularly if you've read through nearly 70 pages on the subject!
Anyway, the offers there, let me know if you're keen.

Greetings, I apologize if this has been covered already but this thread is getting so long I don't know where to begin. I wanted to see if any of you have had your Lodge Jacket modified, i.e. had the zipper and buttons removed? If so, how did it turn out, are you happy with the result? Did you have Barbour do it or did you take it to a tailor?

Also, have any of you tried to get it tailored? I just received mine. Second generation. I find it fits well in the shoulders but is roomy in the body.

    Thanks

I removed the buttons myself and then rewaxed those areas.

Me too. If you have sharp scissors and a steady hand you'll be fine.

Thanks, what did you do about the zipper for the hood?

Anyone tried having one tailored yet?

I cut mine off with the same scissors. If you are very carefully you won't damage it

did you unstich the piece of material that surrounds the zipper. I have a unpicking tool that tailors use Im thinking of doing myself. I used to work as a costumier for the TV/Film industry so I'm pretty confident i will achieve this. I'm thinking once i unpick the strip of material the surrounds the zipper it will be lighter then the rest of the jacket so will need to rub some wax onto it.. any thought ?

It's not obvious the zipper was ever there once removed.... I just reproofed the spots where the buttons for the hood had been.

    While I didn't have it done, my tailor who's the best in LA (and resonable!) could do it for the $18 minimum charged for any work, and I know it would be perfect. I'm sure there are few other good tailors out there in the world! -{

I just went at it with a pair of scissors, can of wax, and a dram of The Macallan.

Save The Macallan for afterwards... that's my advice.

You can then drink it to celebrate or drink it to drown your misery, depending on how it works out.

I can tell where the buttons where and I can see where the base of the zipper peeks out from under the fold of waxed cotton, albeit ever so slightly.

    That said, nobody else can.

I think under normal wearing conditions... you'll be the only one who knows what modifications you've done.

    I'm happy with the results.

... and, if every I become unhappy with the results I have more of The Macallan to help me get over it.

Sorry, if that has been previously replied.

I am reading about screen accurate button spacings and non-accurate ones.

Am I correct, that this refers to the low 3 buttons at the front?

And am I correct, that screen accurate means, that the space between the lowest button (1) and the next higher button (2) is smaller than the gap between the (2) and one higher (3)?

Not accurate means that the space between (1) and (2) is the same like between (2) and (3)?

    Thanks!

Some (not all) of the reissues are equally spaced which is not SA

    cheers

I have ordered mine (XXL) yesterday from Kafka clothing after End clothing left me alone in the dark (very annoying story!) before.

As it is already packed, they (think) that it has the irregular spacing - will see how it arrives here ;)

    received this to my question:

    "Hi Markus,

Your order has already been packaged up but I am fairly sure they are both the irregular spacing.
This was the original spacing which most people desire."

    Sounds good ;)

How's the spacing on your jacket, Welshie?

My xl from kafka had regular button spacing. I ordered it 4/12/12. It seems to be prevalent in that size for some reason. Doesn't trouble me. I've been happily wearing mine blissfully unaware of SA buttongate.
