the button issue thing is a bummer for sume people. You buy something and no matter how small an issue, its not what you expected. I have no shame in saying that when I opened mine, I initially thought the buttons werent SA and I was bummed out. Only after did I hang it up and stand away from it did I realize that they were and I was really happy (More than I thought I would be over buttons). SA is something we pursue, not important to some but is to others. Its just weird that button spacing would be something they would mess up on...
I equate it to putting the zipper for the hood on the wrong side or some other stupid mistake. But it may not even be a mistake (maybe it is but barbour has put out so many that they wont own up to do). If it was a desired change, weird they would change something so small.

I tried preordering the new Commander jacket today from Stuarts of London but the first predelivery order is already sold out already. Any ideas where else is taking orders?

Why did you get a second one?
Well i'm the kind of guy that if i buy something and i like it i will by another as a spare just in case i cant find it ever again but also i plan to make the first screen accurate, if something goes wrong like the slip of the scissors and a screw it up at least i have a new one still boxed in the loft. I know it sounds a little extravagant.
I was very happy to get my jacket from Kafka but it seemed different to me. The first jacket I bought here in NYC (below) had the green tint that you see in most pictures.
My new jacket has a decidedly brown tint and looks more like Bond's after he has been through the wringer. I like it but am I the only one who's jacket is this far off in color?
You know, that's one of the main reasons I've held myself from buying one. I've always seen those two colors and I wasn't sure if they were really different or it's in the lighting.
I figured the lighting and camera were the reason. But my brain keeps telling me this one is brown. I have used the same camera in the same room and can barely get a green tint. That's only if I use the flash.
If you look at these photos (taken from an ebay listing), you'll see both two of the best stills of the full Lodge outfit ensemble and a great example of how both the jacket and the pants can look like they're different colors based on lighting, angle, etc. Though perhaps he is actually wearing different examples of both in the two photos. Everything in the photo on the left (crouching) looks browner and dustier and more weathered.
I'm over that life period long time ago.
I am now more into Rolex, which Fleming thought would be appropriate for Bond and I can see private Craig to agree
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Could anyone please post some information about the sizing of the new Commander jacket compared to the To Ki To sports jacket (bigger/smaller; armholes higher/same/lower (hopefully ) etc.? Thank you so much
So after wearing my Lodge Jacket for just over a month now here are my thoughts on it.
I am practically the same build of DC and the same height 5 foot 9 . I know this because I work for a well known costumiers in London and have fitted him for various roles for TV and film ( alas not Skyfall ). I received my Large Lodge jacket about 6 weeks ago. I tried it on while wearing a thick jumper and found that the jacket fitted but was quite a snug fit. So i put a much thinner jumper on that i had bought from River Island and the Lodge fitted much better if not a little stiff. Now 6 weeks on and a least 2 hours a day walking my dog on Hampsted Heath in the drizzly wind and rain i can successfully say that this jacket now fits me like a glove.
The arms are the perfect length no matter if my arms are down by my side or Im sitting down the cuffs never rise and stay at the end on my wrists. Since wearing it in the rain most days the Jacket has managed to stretch a little in the places it needed to.
So im very happy with this Jacket now except for one particular issue which i can live with and that is
The Jacket is 100% wind and waterproof but the irony is that it get soaked from the inside from me sweating even on a dry day 2 hours of walking the dog i get home and have to turn it inside out to dry. But that's a small price to pay for a cool fitting and looking jacket
In the past I always read that Craig was 5'11" and a Canadian entertainment reporter (who is 5'9") confirmed this, saying that when she was standing beside him he appeared to be that height. However, people now seem to always say that he is 5'10". Perhaps he got shrunk after being in the water so much in SF?
So the general consensus now seems to be that Craig is 5'10" and 180 pounds when he's in shape for Bond films. Which means for my height (5'9") I need to be 177 pounds of lean muscle to look like him...off to the gym now... ;-)

He may be 5'10 /11 in heels but last time i met him and measured him he was 5'9 bare footed
In SF i noticed that other then Judi and Naomie, just about everybody else in the film towers over Craig, and its not even a subtle difference, they're like a head taller then him. when i met him in person this kinda took me by surprise.

He is short. In the tube chase sequence when in the crowd, he is walking along a platform higher than the floor the extras are on, you see him step off it as he enters Temple platform.
I had the privilege to see his suit and tux from SF at Christies and was surprised how small they were, by small I mean normal size. I think they were 40 inch chest and 34 waist and certainly no taller than 5' 9" I would say. For some reason I thought he was taller must have been the camera angles or all his co stars were midgets in his films
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!

They want you to think that the heroes are tall and statuesque. If you didn't, then you wouldn't look up to them and want to buy the related merchandise. Whatever his height is, it's probably still taller than the average height in the U.S or England.

As I understand, there will be no more ToKiTos, which is a real shame ... I love mine (the one I am keeping!)

That looks like a good fit...looks like a nice dog too.
PM sent.
Who cares though. Tom Cruise is shorter.
