I have a medium of the commander jacket and it's a bit tight in the shoulders, but good everywhere else. I am worried if I get a large it'll be too baggy in other places. Anyone else between a large and a medium?

The great thing about these jackets is the more you wear them, the more they form to your body shape. How long have you owned your medium for?

The fit of the lodge jacket probably divides people here more than anything else. I'd doubt you'd get consensus on what to do.

In my case, I tried on a small (my regular size) and was shocked at how tight it was. I tried on a medium but I was swimming in it; it was too large everywhere except that it *still* felt tight in the shoulders and armholes. I thought that it just wasn't for me and went away.

A couple months later I tried one on again and the shock factor wasn't there anymore. I realized that no matter what the shoulders and armholes would feel tight so I got the small. After time it felt like the shoulders have loosened up a lot and I get loads of compliments on the fit. In theory I could have gotten the medium and paid for lots of tailoring, but that would just be for a little bit of extra room in the shoulders which would still have started off tight anyway, so why bother?

All about the shoulders in my opinion where this jacket seems to be ultra fitted in that department, if your not broad you can get away with smaller size. If you are very broad you will need a higher size even if small chest / waist etc

Hi - all new to the forum but just wanted you all to know an answer i got from Barbour regarding having the commander jacket fitted with a hood and a storm flap - heres what they wrote in respons and a respons that is totally illogic to me ?:) ?:) Is it just me but i should think, the jacket being almost identical to the skyfall barbour x to ki jacket, that it should be and easy task to fit the hood and the storm flap... well heres the answer.:

    Thank you for your message.

With reference to your enquiry, unfortunately we are unable to carry out the alterations you require due to the construction of the garment. We are sorry we are unable to assist you on this occasion.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards

I've been going back and forth with Barbour myself. My middle button came out, and I've been asking about having a button added in the proper-bottom-button location and the representative seems to be insisting I'm asking for them to move the current bottom button hole. I probably confused them by asking if they could mend the current bottom hole, but even after i gave up on that they still didn't seem to understand me.

I'm not really sure how to be any more clear about it.

    Edit:
They don't have a machine to make holes with. Nuts.

Oh, by the way, what does "having the back let out" entail? I've had a lot of tightness in the shoulders/back lately. Is a medium. I'm 5'9", about 160, 38R, ~32" waist; the thing should fit, i would think, but clearly if I'm pulling the button out, there's an issue.

Just adding my two cents, these newer commander jackets do have an improvement over the older ones and for that matter the original heritage sports jacket, in that the sleeves do NOT have the tartan lining. This is to me is HUGE improvement, no more lining sticking out of the sleeves, or a bit of a struggle getting your arms in and out, especially since the narrow arm holes. The new lining helps your arms get in and out like butter, like what WESTED did with their indy jackets that had a cotton body and satin sleeves. However, these are not satin sleeves, but a waterproof type material!

    Hi guys,

Kind of lurked on this site for a while and cant claim to be anywhere near as enthusiastic as many of the members here but still appreciate bond and especially this jacket. Basically I am just looking for opinions on the fit of my jacket as I have been reading through and looking for a while. Eventually went with a Large as I am 5'10 and about 180. Found the points about the shoulders and across the back to be true enough as it is tight and really not sure I could fit in a medium and layer etc. You guys think this fits alright or could do with a bit of tailoring? I am pretty happy to be honest like I say tight across the back but only downfall for me is the sleeves being a bit long and the front maybe being a bit boxier than I had hoped but then again I am not Daniel Craig.
    Thanks for any thoughts!!

It fits you well mate.... I certainly looks like a medium would be too tight across the shoulders and chest.

    The fit looks good, and while the sleeves are a touch long, they're a bit long on Craig in the film as well -{

I had my sleeves tailored slimmer from the elbow to the wrist. It makes a huge difference to the look.

Out of curiousity, did you get Barbour to do that or a tailor? What did it run you?

Barbour don't alter sleeves. Most tailors can do it, but just to be safe ask if they've worked on wax cotton before.

It cost me £30. You can probably find cheaper. But I used my regular tailor who I trust.

Is anyone selling the tokito hood? I have the commander jacket but would love to add the orginal hood to it so that I can wear this otherwise gorgeous jacket more often in the rain. Would be really appreciated. Max

The hood is zippered to the base of the collar on the beacon heritage, the dept. B commander does not have this zippered section, just the strip of material that hides the zipper. I guess you could add a zipper and the buttons to fasten the hood in theory though.

The Commander doesn't even have that strip.

That woudn’t bother me. My tailor said he could add the strip and a zipper anyway.
But finding that hood is the difficult part.

    Hi all
I have an original limited edition Barbour Tokito jacket (size S) I bought in 2012 from Selfridges (model number MWX0364OL71). It has sat the last 2 years sealed in its box (I've been travelling on business). Anyway I opened it the other day and it is lovely. But I was wondering if anyone would know how much I could sell it for here or on eBay? Then I could maybe buy a Barbour Beacon jacket.
This is just a "hypothetical" question as I am rapidly falling in love with the hood and wind-flap!
    cheers all
