Q Branch Scenes

I must admit to not being a huge fan of these moments. Many fans like them for sight gags, gadgets, etc. I always feel, in general, they get in the way. That said, there are one or two I have a bit of time for.

GOLDFINGER - The first & best. It doesn't outstay its welcome & both actors play nicely off one another.

THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN - I like the interplay between Q & Colthorpe when they're discussing the golden bullet Bond has 'passed' to them. It makes a change from Q & Bond just being exasperated with one another.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY - The Identigraph scene again allows for a bit more substance between Bond & Q. I also rather like Bond's "Stinging in the rain" quip.

THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS - I like Dalton's playing in this. Bond seems a little less condescending to the old gent than other actors have been. And of course I love the line, "You don't find many normal people in this business, Q."

Goldeneye was good too with the background jokes. Maybe a future flick could show Q branch with a portrait of Des on the wall by the entrance, like the one of Bernard Lee.

Wow Big Tam, you start a lot of treads! I love the first Q scene in Dr. NO (maybe this doesn't qualify as a real Q scene) where 007 gets his PPK. I think I like this one because it is almost exactly how Fleming wrote it in Dr. No. Of course in the novel you know why M wants Bond to switch guns. For some reason I also like the relationship between Moore's Bond and Q. The Goldeneye one is classic too.

His valedictory in TWINE I liked a lot.

Yeah Peppermill, I have noted my own eagerness for canvassing opinion. I'm just fascinated by fellow members' thoughts. It's a problem of having only one of my friends who is actually a fellow Bond fan.

Loved the Q Branch scene in Thunderball, some great interaction with Bond and Q. :))

I'm with you, Big Tam - the Q branch scene in Goldfinger is my favorite ("I never joke about my work 007!)

The Q scenes are always a highlight for me too, but for interactions I also vote for the Q scenes in GF, TLD, but I must admit the bittersweet moment of TWINE for me has nothing to do with the main plot.

Bond - "You aren't retiring anytime soon, (beat, realisation hits) are you?"
    Q - (Doesn't say anything.)

On a brighter note, Also YOLT and TSWLM, as Q in the field himself introduces us to Bonds best vehicular toys besides the Astons, - Little Nellie and the Boatus! :D
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
