Some news from an Omega Rep!

I spoke last week with the Omega Rep for local watch store where I have been buying watches from for the last 12 years last week, so I thought I would share the dirt for all of us (myself) included who were thinking of buying the new Aqua Terra from Skyfall.

We are looking at an offical October release for England and November for the US for the watch. The price is $5500.00. However, Omega will have a price increase in October, between 5 and 8%. This is the second price hike as they recently increased the prices on the two toned models this year already. This is would put the watch in the range of approx $6000, considering that the new planet ocean currently sells for $6200.00, this is insane as the new PO is more watch than AT. I am seriously thinking of letting this one go.

I have every version of an Omega that Bond has worn since GE, but even I think that the new Aqua Terra is not worth it at this price no matter the Bond connection. Omega will not let you pre order so you can be locked into the current price, and there is no discounting the watch here in the States because US dealers been pretty heavy handed with their discounting which Omega views as taking the luster out of luxury purchases, what is fan to do?

i think the AT is an ok looking watch, but certainly not one that i simply have to have.

for the functions and spec, the price is, imo a result of omega simply cashing in on the bond connection. if i had a bag of coins set aside for bond stuff, i could certainly think of a few ways of spending it, instead of blowing the lot on one purchase.

i always wanted a speedmaster as it has more functions and classic looks. there's nothing special about the AT.

i rather liked it when there was the bond watch, where our favourite character would be seen wearing just one brand or make in a film. these days it seem a bond flick is becoming more like a 2hr commercial. :#

It's not a shotgun but a double rifle which is a world of difference away from a shotgun :D

Probably, but the thing to remember is Martin, that when I met you in Birmingham back in February, my memory wasn't so good and these days it's even worse, at least I think it is...

That settles it then, I'll have to go for full size.

I'd rather wear a dinner plate than a girls watch, you'd never let me live it down :))

I won't be buying it either. As much as I enjoy Bond movies there is a limit to what I will buy just because it has a connection to the franchise. I love the Seamaster PO and have one but the AT just doesn't excite me for that price. Rather have a Speedmaster as an Omgea alternative.

I'm not interested either. Might pick up one a few years down the line in minty condition or something when people are offloading them cheap like the other Bond watches
