I saw a DB5 today!!!

So, I live in South Florida, the Ft Lauderdale region. I was driving home from work in pretty heavy traffic on Federal Highway (heading north from the Port Everglades area) and there was an honest-to-god damned DB5 (or perhaps DB4GT, but that's quite unlikely) going in the other direction. Due to the slow traffic flow I got a solid 10 seconds to gaze at it, but unfortunately not long enough to get my phone out of my pocket and take a picture (not that I bothered to take my eyes off it and attempt it). I've fantasized about that car for 20 years or so, and I was not prepared to randomly see one actually being driven and not in a museum. I pretty much flipped my top and dropped my jaw, something that almost never happens. I would love to know if anyone has any information about the owner, and knows about the car. It was a darker grey than the 'silver birch' of the Goldfinger car.

Nice man! A very rare sight indeed! Proberbly especially in America!
I'm not expecting you to have noticed this, but on which side was the steering wheel? :) - Proberbly on the left side, since it was driven in America, although it could have been imported and had a steering wheel on the right side...

I for one have always fantasized about having the Lotus Esprit, beautiful car!

I really wish I would have thought to have noticed that fact. I didn't think about it until your post and now I'm kicking myself. I was too busy being shocked and trying to figure out whether it was a DB4GT, DB5, or DB6. I only had about ten seconds of clear visibility so I was comparing against a mental checklist of features like cowled headlights, shape of taillights, etc. I didn't even consider whether it was left or right wheel drive because I was looking at the headlights, grille, taillights etc. Sorry! I tried to find a turnaround so I could get a long look at it but traffic was so bad that my efforts would have been fruitless. :(

That's awesome. Only thing I can think you can do is just start talking to people about it. A car that rare is bound to catch some eyes. Perhaps other people have seen it and know what area it is from. Perhaps a car collector that goes through a rotation of cars. Were you near a wealthy area? I only ask because I work near a wealthy area and some of the cars I see near work are no where near the same car near home.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

I see the DB6 on a regular basis as it's a very popular wedding car for the
    groom to arrive in. ;)
I keep meaning to ask the owner to let me photograph it with me behind the
wheel in a Tux, looking all hard and Macho or as close as I can get. :))
    Beautiful car.

I saw a DB5 with its right headlamp smashed after getting caught by a reckless driver in Leigh-On-Sea five years ago.

I have seen 3 different DBS's in Bristol, A grey one, a black one, and a red one. (Such an odd colour for an Aston!!) Nevertheless, lovely cars regardless of the spectrum.

Been a very long time since I have seen a DB5.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I saw a DB5 a couple of years ago filling up. I meandered over and tried to have a chat, but the guy was an arrogant tosser. :# Which was a real shame. But he pulled out and put his foot down, so I showed him what my then M3 could do passed him and was probably at twice his speed within seconds. More fun was showing him how crap his brakes were at the roundabout. The look on his face as he thought he was going to rear end me was priceless. His anecdote is probably about the arrogant tosser in the BMW, but there you go... ;)

That is a great story :)

I can't believe DB5's are still being driven about in the UK. I has to be one of the iltimates cars for any man to have. It is an awesome car. I can't believe you have seen it in America. I also never realised that the DB5 was available in America.

Hmmm...perhaps this is the DB5 from Goldfinger/Thunderball that was stolen from a hangar at Boca Raton airport some years ago! :o

    Red a strange colour for a DB5?

Are you aware that BMT216A was originally Dubonnet Red when tested by the likes of Autocar magazine?
