Inane, piddly, SkyFall Props
The Bond Experience
Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
OK, let's turn this into a little fun thread...what seemingly inane props/items can we find from SkyFall...so far we only have stills and trailer to go by and some blog videos. There is the literary magazine that supposedly M has....I am sure there are others.
For any computer knowledgeable folk out there, at 12 seconds into this trailer we see the back of the computer missing its "card"...my question is, is this a piece that can be purchased separately from this model of computer? If so, where?

These HDD usually look like that:
That would also correspond with the spoken text: " 3 months ago you have lost the drive containing the identity of every agent...."

Personally I could never go back to a "normal" hard drive for hosting my OS
You can delete traditional HDDs much better and safer than SSD drives plus you can physically destroy them much better.
Not sure what SSD Sony is using, Apples SSDs are far smaller than the gap on that Notebook from the trailer.

You could contact Sony to get a replacement hard drive for a Vaio S if you want it on your collection. But the question is, how much memory does the HDD in Skyfall have.

EDIT: Hosting screenshots is a sticky legal issue--we've decided to avoid them. Please click the link if you want to see it. HB
Edit: Be fast - Mantis might find another "treasure" floating on ebay :v

Sure it's a nice shelf filler, but it's stretching it a bit thin ain't it? A golden gun, sure, a walther ppk, certainly, jaws teeth, but of course, a hard drive..... I'm sorry, a what?
Luckily, SF will feature some proper kit.

Only in Black...
Don't panic, you'll not be disappointed. Plenty more cool stuff than mere laptop hard drives.

What does "technology" mean?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Re the Laptop - I agree with Arbogast777. Seems odd to waste time smashing open a perfectly good computer, when it would have been just as easy to half inch the computer itself? If they were worried about tracking devices, the drive itself would surely have a small GPS tracker inside it, since it has the critical info? (Looks confused).
Mantis - If you are going to get the drive, I suggest getting a separate laptop as well. That way you have a prop that can also double as a spare component if need be! :007)
Made my day!

(Owt to do with Q really. We wanna be JB, right? Oops: internal monolog transcribed...)

Agree. It's encouraging me to start a prop collection and make a Skyfall display. -{
