Hi all fellow Bond fans, please take a moment to see what we are up to the weekend that Skyfall is released in the UK!
Welcome to The Watchers Cancer Research Wales Charity Bondathon 2012!
Who are The Watchers?
The Watchers are two movie buffs, old school friends, who share a passion for film in all its forms. From blockbusters to art-house, we'll watch it and give our honest opinions on it. To see what we do, take a look at www.thewatchersfilmshowblog.blogspot.co.uk
What is a Bondathon?
A Bondathon is a test of endurance for movie buffs, to watch all the official James Bond movies in a row.
Official James Bond movies are those produced by EON Productions (so Casino Royale(1967) & Never Say Never Again do not count). The new official Bond movie Skyfall is out in October, which brings the total number of films in the franchise to twenty-three.
The challenge is to watch all twenty-three movies over a three-day period, starting with Dr .No at midnight on Friday October 26 and culminating with a cinema screening of Skyfall on the evening of Sunday October 28.
You may think that two guys sitting on a sofa watching movies for three days straight isn’t much of a challenge. We agree. So, for each of the twenty-three movies, we will be writing a retrospective blog piece and recording a podcast which will be available online. If you consider that this equates to approximately forty-six hours of movie watching alone, the scale of the challenge should be more apparent.
So why are we doing it?
We are raising money for Cancer Research Wales. Both of our fathers are currently undergoing treatment for various types of cancer and we both wanted to help raise vital funds for research and treatment.
We are looking for help in raising the profile of our geeky fund-raiser and any support you could offer, would be greatly appreciated.
More information about the Bondathon & content will be added over the coming weeks so please keep checking the blog; www.thewatcherscharitybondathon2012.blogspot.co.uk

Many thanks - we are busy scheduling the weekend and will be running blog post items over the next few weeks - hoping to get online attention and we are getting great support from Cancer Resarch Wales in regards to press coverage.
If there is anyone who is reading this and wants to help us in any way - or if anyone does there own blog we would love guest bloggers etc?
Please contact us?
Last year I did a Bond marathon with a friend of mine, and it was a great experience! I look forward to your blog and podcasts. When I did the marathon last year, we did a video where we reviewed each film after watching it. We also invited friends to join us and they also reviewed the films that they watched. If you're interested you can find the videos on Youtube:

If you want guest bloggers I would be keen to help out. I have a Bond blog, although I haven't written anything on it since reviewing Quantum of Solace... http://golrush007.blogspot.com
I'm just curious though, watching movies for three days straight, does seem VERY tiring... It's only natural that after say, a dozen movies you will start to loose a lot of focus, and start to feel tired... You guys are human after all... - How do you guys feel about this?
Anyway, once again! Great project!
@Golrush, I've watched several Bondathons on youtube, I also stumbled on yours a while back! - Always good fun to see people doing that!

Golrush007 thanks for the support and Ill take a look at the vids - great to hear from a vetren of a Bondathon.
We have a plan of what we are gonna write about on the blog during the countdown! - but please email me with a few ideas of what you would like to write about and then we can make sure we don't have a clash? Guest Bloggers are welcomed on this project - so please get in touch?
We are reviewing each film - one of us will do a written blog piece while the other will do a podcast of each film - we will alternate on every film and the starting positions on Dr No will be decided by a toss of a coin!!
So we are trying to make it an event that people can drop in over the wkend and see how were doing - we of course will blog entry how were feeling too lol
Never fear we are human after all - our schedule (so far) is at stroke of midnight on the 26th we will watch Dr No - then rest and press play on FRWL at 4am then every 2-3 films we take a small break, Friday should finish at 12:30am then sleep - the saturday (27th) we get started at 6am and go through the same upto 12:50am - then the final day we start at 6am and finish at a screening of Skyfall at about 23:00 - then a rush to get the final blog entries up before midnight and the challenge will be completed!
We are already seeking advice on our diet etc for the challenge - just like you said - the challenge is to watch and be focused and not just veg in front of the films - so we need to intake the correct food etc - any Drs on here please feel free to give advice?
Thanks again for the support and the numbers of views of this in one day has made me very happy - I hope you fans will continue to support us and donate ( www.justgiving.com/thewatcherscharitybondathon2012 ) and join us over the release wkend of Skyfall for the Bondathon and of course during the countdown with our planned blog items?
