I received my large coat and I was really happy with the quality and fit besides one issue. There was a very noticeable and large scratch on the leather strip on the collar. Like a lot of people on here, the leather is a big part of the reason I was attracted to the coat, so obviously this wasn't acceptable. BR didn't hesitate to tell me they'd send a replacement out though, so I expect all to be well. Good experience with their customer service.

Just watched the movie again and i believe the screen accurate leather on the peacoat is definitely black or extremely dark brown, much darker than brown on the BR website.
  • plecopleco Posts: 30MI6 Agent
I believe that's lighting that makes it look so dark. It looks like chocolate is screen accurate imo. The BR pics could easily be screen accurate in that light.

I agree. There is no difference besides lighting.

It is clearest in the scene where he is at the airport..... The lighting is bright but the leather really looks black.....at other times the lighting is too dark to say one way or another.

To be perfectly honest, both could be correct. There were 30 jackets right? The colour would vary on the leather anyway, from chocolate to a very dark havana would be perfectly plausable between coats.

Folks, not to stir the pot, but the manifesto to the production were the deep navy pea coats with the brown leather...not black leather. Movie lighting and even film finishing can tweak colors...

BR have replied and apparently their affiliate that posts the packages is experiencing problems ever since the hurricane.... Based in New Jersey so I guess all coats have gone to the USA for shipping back to the UK....

They have lost tracking ability and have also exp inordinate delays ???

    Hmmmmmmmm

Just want the thing to arrive now........

Know the leather is causing a lot of questions, and the quality..... I just want mine and if its got leather and the buttons fasten I will be over the moon......

even if the manifesto says that and even if it is brown leather (im not saying it isn't) the film worn version suggests different, heres all the evidence we need really....

and on BR's website, the picture showing the strip used to be very dark brown but has since been changed showing the SA black leather, or what looks to be black.

That looks like a black coat with black leather accents, and black lenses to me :p :s

I would definitely say the coat is a beautifully deep navy with black leather trim. Even if the leather was brown in real life, I think it looks awesomely black on screen and I like it that way:)

I just did a bunch of tests....

The leather on mine looked very dark when exposed to natural or soft light, but got almost a tan look in flourescent or halogen lighting. So I took some theater lighting and put some basic filters on that are used when trying to replicate indoor lighting from a certain direction. Viola!!! I got the leather to look black and the coat to look black. I'm going to put this one down as busted in the mythbusters file. :007)

Didn't Casino Royale teach us that airport lighting makes brown leather look black? :))

That is curious that BR has changed the color of the leather on the Bond coat on their website! Still tough to tell for sure what the screen coat leather color is....

Personally, movie aside, I think both trims are handsome, but I prefer the dark espresso brown (rather than black).

http://www.equusleather.co.uk/index.php/Leather-Colours.html looks like dark havana rather than jet black. That is interesting! Wonder why?

It looks like they have just changed the colour with PhotoShop! All the creases etc are the same...

Hey fellas, received my MEDIUM coat yesterday from a forum member here.
Here is my experience with the fit:
    I am 5'10" 180lbs, 41" chest and 35" waist, athletic build.
The medium fits perfectly. Fitted look but still some room for a scarf and maybe a sweater underneath. Really glad I went with medium instead of large, which would have been to roomy for the look I wanted. Only problem I see with layering is that the armpit hole area is already a bit tight on my biceps.
For more size references, I am a:
Size Medium in banana republic shirts
Size 16 (41) in Tom ford shirts
Size 15.5 in Ralph Lauren shirts
    Size 40R suit

    Hope this helps.

Has anybody posted the actual measurements of these jackets they've received? I'm looking for ACTUAL measurements from a small and a medium in inches: pit to pit (buttoned up), arm length from shoulder, back length from bottom of collar stand, back shoulders across seam to seam, waist opening (buttoned up). Would be appreciated!

I only ask because people here have VERY different opinions on how clothing should fit them, so having actual measurements helps me determine best fit for myself. I can't use, we'll I wear a so and so in a suit and this fits perfect, or I like to wear a sweater/jumper and a shirt under this jacket (or whatever) and it fits me perfect. Too many fit opinions, so any help is appreciated!

    Small
    chest ~21in
    waist ~18.5in
    shoulders ~18in
    length ~28.5in
    sleeve ~24.5in

    Med
    chest ~21in
    waist ~19in
    shoulders ~18in
    length ~29in
    sleeve ~25in

So, obviously not much difference. I measured various points across the back as well which is where it seems to vary most. The small does seem more tailored toward a v-frame. It is as wide (if not 1/4in wider) than the medium up top, but probably an inch smaller down at the waist. Now, I can only speak to my jacket, but as I said earlier. If you are a little slimmer in the shoulder and slightly taller with more of a box frame, maybe Med is for you. The jacket could probably be let out 1/4 to 1/2 inch, but it's definitely a better idea to size up if you're worried.

    Btw, I am a 32 (actual) waist but I usually wear a 30 and I'm around 160lbs.

Are the buttons plastic or horn?
  • plecopleco Posts: 30MI6 Agent
    Natural horn.
